For me working in the industry with generators, the answer is simple. Set up a state administered non-profit People's Utility which would compete with the existing privatised energy retailers. If there is a cartel, such a move would break it apart. Also a People's Utility would be able to generate or purchase wholesale electricity from mothballed gas-fired plants so the capacity is there to do so.

Anyone named their pet with a Saints related name?
TopGun replied to chocco boxo's topic in The Saints
I had a cat named Whisky but it was well before George Burley's time. -
Alps, I'm the OP who suggested Lovren... I'm not feeling hounded though. It's a theoretical debate that doesn't necessarily have a right answer anyway and I hope we don't have to see the question I posed answered in any case.

The Fulham game showed that most of our players have fitted into the Poch style that is serving us so well at the moment and they're all doing well. But if one player got a bad injury who would you least want it to be? I'd hate to lose Lovren as he has been the rock that so much else depends on.

So Lawrenson is made to look a Muppet once again.

Oh I don't know. After all Bury did win the FA Cup twice in 1900 (beating Saints) and 1903. So on a Pompey view of how big a club is, based on honours which were won a long time ago, I'd say Bury are up there with the top teams.

Well played sir.

The fact remains that Fox is our back up LB currently. So people better get used to it rather than having a pop at him.

At some point in the last couple of months or so Colin Farmery (I think) was quoted as saying Pompey are losing £35K a week at the moment. Can anyone point me to that quote please?

Ooops... they've lost Alan Knight now! http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/legend-leaves-pompey-role-1-5552454

Me and all after Factless' latest piece of crap. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/opinion/balance-sheets-and-profit-and-loss-forecasts-a-wonderful-new-transparent-world-for-pompey-fans-1-5538019

Factless' latest article takes the biscuit. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/opinion/balance-sheets-and-profit-and-loss-forecasts-a-wonderful-new-transparent-world-for-pompey-fans-1-5538019 A whole new world of transparency - broken down by the man himself. But funny, no mention of non-football creditors!

Possibly a need for a new biomass plant...

Prediction: FIRST PREM MANAGER TO GET THE SACK?
TopGun replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
But the same board appointed him and let him spend cash over the summer... -
Same applies to everyone else though.

Well, that buggers the tip I took at 80/1 from the thread on here that MP would be sacked if we didn't beat Liverpool... http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/next-manager-to-leave-post Funnily enough, MP is the manager least rated to lose his job at the moment!

My IQ is 83. This is good news as the only way is up.

The News comments facility seems to be buggered which is a shame as I enjoy throwing a grenade in every once in a while :-( It's an old favourite but "You can't polish a turd" always gets a decent result!

Oops! Agent Connolly sees red.

So Champagne Iain gets off a drink driving charge on error technicalities... http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/iain-mcinnes-drink-driving-charge-dropped-by-court-1-5436257

Gamblers Anonymous - get rich quick with share tips on Saintsweb
TopGun posted a topic in The Lounge
I thought this forum could do with a share tipping and ownership thread as I'm sure many posters like to dabble. I've had mixed form recently. I bought £3K of Bellway Homes shares 6 days ago at 1411p and they've plummeted to 1345p since, largely to do with general market uncertainty among cyclical shares caused by the Syrian business. I'm hoping the underlying strength of house building with the Help to Buy scheme will ultimately turn them around again but I definitely bought at a bad time. On the upside I bought Drax shares last September at 487p and they are now at 702p so good gains there in comparison with bank savings accounts etc. Anybody else want to share their wisdom or follies? -
Apparently it's coming! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23637225 I think Asimov got pretty close to this in a couple of his 1950/1960s novels. I suppose seven of nine was not really a robot. Has possibilities though IMO.
