  1. Reasonable forward in his time and place replaced by journeyman forward. Looking forward also to Pompey's defensive tactics all the more!
  2. I think half the problem with the players is the hero lauding they get from the Snooze and the fans. It creates far more pressure on them than similarly talented players at Rochdale, Cheltenham or Morecambe. But they all refuse to recognise that they are the same.
  3. Long predicted, but still a shock. Certainly the most significant African figure of his generation (and several others). While others he will inevitably be bracketed with - Gandhi and Mother Teresa spring to mind - I hope his very real achievements and significance live after him and continue to be recognised as such.
  4. If Wilder's got any sense he'll let his contract run down at Oxford and get them promoted. Then he holds all the aces.
  5. The phew are also now debating the merits of Martin Jol and Dave Jones!
  6. Coffee is the devil's brew in the same way that mushrooms are the food of the devil.
  7. The numpties now think they are getting David James and Hermann Hreiderson!
  8. Seems to be a fair bit of Rod Stewart going on - Tesco and Nexus Google.
  9. No time for Brand or Murdoch!

I think they cleaned up because they took on JD Sports and won. Whether that makes them a Buffet type stock is another matter.

Good points there Tamesaint. I use HL also. Have funds and shares. I think they provide a good service as well as giving you education along the way with their features.
  12. No it won't. Did BMW recall all their cars yesterday because a driver crashed one?
  13. He must be mad if that is right.
  14. I wonder how many of the serious applications will stick around after they have been interviewed and been informed of the manager salary and the player budget?
  15. Blackwaterblue 2:55 PM on 29/11/2013 Probably not a common view but I think Andy's current position is more important than the Manager's job in the long term. I'm impressed that we've had 100 applications though. Would be nice if there are some big names in there or if Harry gets fired at the weekend! What can you say? They really don't get it do they!
  16. Guilty of No. 23 and No. 25.

Took a hit on Bellway today with the Bank of England withdrawing Funding for Lending but they'll be good enough to survive on their own.
  18. I guess of course Richie Barker could have been sacked today by stating he was going to breach his contract in any case. In which case I would assume that Crawley would look for compensation from Pompey if he is appointed as the new man. So that could hold stuff up. Bit of a blow for the Pompey Few though who wanted the likes of Warnock etc. And if he is Caitlin's choice, it all brings it closer to the Pompey Board of 7 HNWIs, who of course respect the pledgers, as they panic en masse in any case! It's just so much ongoing fun on this thread debating the critical mass that is Pompey!
  19. Didn't Crawley also have some minor Liebherr in any case?
  20. That's incredibly weird. I was thinking the same earlier. I had McInnes pegged as Napoleon, Whittingham as Snowball, Hall as Squealer and the fans as Boxer.
  21. Fantastic effort!
  22. The amusing thing is that Whittingham had assembled his players by the end of June as a knee jerk reaction to the ill fated previous two pre-seasons. With the full backing of McInnes and co. If Whitts had waited a bit longer, like virtually all other L2 clubs who change the playing make up each summer, Pompey wouldn't have committed one year contracts to many of the gash players the new manager is stuck with for the rest of the season. I love this thread. It has far to go!
  23. Some guy call Bucks Blue on the News site: I think we'll be surprised how many good, out of work managers will be interested in this job. Hopefully some will be more happy working for what we can afford to pay, than sat at home or doing pundit work...have a look at League Managers Association web-site...what about Danny Wilson - two promotions, LDV trophy, numerous MOTM awards, most of managerial career spent in lower divisions and rarely out of work in 20yrs. Bristol City, Swindon, MK Dons at least show a willingness to come South. 41% win ratio - and 52% in his last job. Or Stuart Pearce, Tony Mowbray...George Burley, ian Dowie, Paul Sturrock or Glenn Hoddle if we don't mind their previous...Kevin Blackwell, Ray Wilkins, Gerry Francis...we will not be lacking in good quality applicants. S******!
