It's certainly not PC gone mad. Do you like it when you get crank calls on the phone? It's true they will never be poor but without the BBC their exposure is severely curtailed. The BBC will end up sacking them and producers to protect its reputation. It has little choice. Doesn't mean they won't be back on the BBC in the future.
-
Sympathies also. Can't blame the police though which I know you haven't. Unfortunately little ****s anywhere take advantage of stuff. I guess you didn't leave anything that might be enticing visible?

Jump on any little boat (saves the effort of beach casting) from June onwards. Drop a line down 20ft wherever you see gulls with three hooks and accompanying simple lures. Draw it up and down a bit. Get mackerel by the basketload within seconds and sell/give them away. Tell the doggies to bugger off when they inadvertently bite your hooks. That's my experience anyway.

It's a bit silly really as it means jack ****. The only realistic ways to remove Lowe are as follows: 1) Offer him stupid money for his shareholding so that he and his allies agree to sell. 2) Buy out the likes of Wilde and Lowe's shareholding allies. Probably for silly money too compared with the share price. Exploiting the weaknesses with Wilde and the Lowe proxy shares is the best available tactic so that some of them cave in and effectively hand over partial elements of power over the club to somebody else. Probably Crouch at this stage. Nothing new there. But there doesn't seem to be anyone madly in favour of paying over the top for SLH share prices. Until someone is prepared to pay the OTT market prices demanded by the major shareholders we can assume that they will hang on more or less until the grim death of administration bites and forces them to sell with no profitable way out left. For those who blithely talk about administration as a way out, remember that all assets will be seized and sold before the club is released from administration. On field and off field where possible.

Bling. They might cause a few crashes at night too.

After he was whisked out of the bunker by MI5 who wanted to glean information from him, he and Eva were given new identities. They took the family name Lowe as it retained Germanic connections.

How much does it cost to run the floodlights at SMS?
TopGun replied to Window Cleaner's topic in The Saints
A spinning reserve is required whatever your primary forms of power generation. And it's a far bigger effect when a nuke/gas/coal station suddenly trips offline. I agree with photovoltaics though. They could do a job on all new buildings built, not just football clubs. -

Are there any decent alternatives to this thread? -
Use that energy to learn to cook so you can cook decent stuff in the future when you need to be careful!

Spot on. The govt so far has spent and plans to spend £85bn decommissioning nuclear power stations and storing the waste safely. -
Must be a pain in the arse to all the Norwegians who are called Quisling.

Manc City want to install a 2MW turbine. Research shows that turbines in the UK produce about 25% of that on average due to wind variance. Given that they would be using the turbine for a very small percent of the time in any week a turbine would work well for them and most other football clubs as the excess can always be sold. A turbine costs about £1.5m to install and has a planned life of 25 years. Believe me, I know these things!!! -

Man City have plans to power their lights with a wind turbine. Obviously it would be linked to the Grid so the lights would work when there is no wind and the club can sell the power to the grid whenever the wind is blowing. Some of the antis have come up with the objection that ice may be thrown from the rotating blades and will land on spectators! -

The wattage sounds plausible. The kettles don't. 436KW would be enough to power about 900 houses for the duration of the game. It is estimated a medium size house uses 470W on average. -

I think the floodlights should be wired to a dynamo and Lowe and Wilde can be whipped to pedal faster. -
I forgot to mention how I had judged your laissez faire views. That's something that I just take from some of your views over the last two years or so on the TSF lounge where you have made numerous "large government" comments. I'm fine with your point of view but thought I had better explain my perception of you! Incidentally, I once met Bernie in a pub in Knightsbridge called the Swag & Tails, which is/was apparently his local. I worked near there years ago and went in a few times but he was only there the once when I was there. Small pub and I was having a meal (expensive) but we had a quick chat at the bar and he seemed at home with other locals there! Almost friendly!

I believe that the licence fee (irrespective of how little or much it contributes to the overall BBC budget) enables the Corporation to set its self apart from any other media organisation in the world. Simply because it can claim it is not funded by commercial organisations who want a stake in what is broadcast and also because it is largely not seen as a government channel. It's an important foundation. It's neither Belarus State TV or Sky. It is like the Bank of England in effect, although its independence obviously precedes the BofE. I won't claim it is perfect either because, no doubt, in a time of emergency it would become a state channel. But it does a job and has a rep matched by no other broadcast company in the world. As for F1, ITV's stuff was clearly better despite ads than the outgoing BBC at the time. BBC had been complacent. Now I imagine the BBC will be up to the plate as Bernie demands.
-
Lol. I, for one, don't begrudge £135 a year to keep ads off the BBC. As an F1 guy, I'd think you feel the same despite your seemingly laissez-faire values. I'll concentrate on the show fees rather than the licence politics!
-
No doubt about that. But then you'd expect the Beeb to sell the Natural Planet with a higher price tag too. An interesting topic though. If I can be arsed I might dig through the BBC annual reports. If it ain't there and I get really motivated I might bung in a freedom of info request on the subject! As a guy who works in media it sounds as though it might make interesting reading in the wider media too.

I know I find it more difficult to get out of bed when it is dark and gloomy outside. Perhaps I qualify?

Cheap humour for kids. Both should know better. Radio 1 crap really.

You don't have to be a brilliant manager if you have had loads of lolly to spend. But it looks as though he has spent them into big time debt and is doing his rat from a ship trick again.
