I thought this was a thread about getting kids to read at school. I was going to get into one but now I realise it's not necessary. But was Janet and John better than Peter and Jane?
  2. My parents live in Highfield and they tell me that the area had some power surge last week one night that affected a load of people in the neighbourhood. They say that their PC is knackered from it and they have sent it off to be fixed. Is this possible? And, if it is, what's the worst that could happen to a PC? Surely there should be some fuse that blows before the whole thing fries internally....
  3. Visualise, please Tim, visualise.
  4. I think you are doing a great job with Ron Tim. Good luck to him.
  5. I have to say your concerned webmates have looked after you Scu. Well worth a fiver.
  6. Silly man DSM... It's because he owns them all. tsk!
  7. Oh well, GMP opening an inquiry into careless driving... never saw that one coming given the circumstances. More wasted tax payers dosh etc cos Ronaldo is denying he was playing with the toys. Seriously, I know that tunnel, I couldn't crash a Nissan Micra on an oil patch.
  8. Thank god Lucy Pinder is out of CBB. Now there is no reason for people to go on about it here. I also have to say she was pretty talentless. I'm sure others will defend Lucy.
  9. I guess the big difference is the planning element of project management. Proactive rather than reactive for much of the time as an IT engineer. Loads of Gantt charts etc.
  10. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7820981.stm Iceland has bought 51 of the stores but none in Southampton. I would have thought the Portswood store would have been great for Iceland as all the students would go there rather than Waitrose. Is there already some kind of Iceland there?
  11. It's being reported in Manchester that Ronaldo says it was not his fault as his car skidded on a patch of oil. How the **** can a Ferrari with massive tyres going in a pretty straight line on a dual carriageway in a lit tunnel suddenly slide into the wall because of an oil patch? Pound to a penny he was messing with his ipod or phone!
  12. I buy clothes from the M&S outlet store at the Lowry Centre at Salford Quays. My underpants are sooo last year!
  13. I know that bad luck can be augmented but we have had a poor run with CBs over the past few years. Perhaps this is the guy to break the mould.
  14. It's probable that's where the block is especially if your washing machine feeds into it. It's easy to do but does smell a bit.
  15. Echo story http://m6live.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4033777.Saints_sign_Saeijs/
  16. The blue ones are nice and so are the black barrel shaped ones. The rest are a waste of space.
  17. I believe it is because the BBC threw out all the master tapes in the 1970s as part of a spring clean to make more space available. The three episodes are ones that have been recovered because there were other copies in the hands of individuals buried away in attics and suchlike.
  18. I know that tunnel well. As you can see from the photo it's pretty hard to plough your motor into the wall.
  19. How much is your granny worth? Excluding arbitrage etc.
  20. I think you need to read the other thread.
  21. Difficult to know who they will choose as captain now. Bad job to have.
  22. They changed the counters because of thieving little urchins like you sneaking around the back St Landrew. You were the first of the breed and you owe society answers.
  23. Given that banning orders seem to be publicised in local papers so neighbours can all tell your mum, how did she manage to not know Denzil?
  24. Try and remember they were an American company originally. It will make you feel better. I'm sure you wouldn't feel too sad if McDs went bust!
