Christ if we continue with Selles I might have to tune out of next season. Bloke is a fraud, just as bad as Jones but speaks more politely and wears a polo neck. He is the only constant, from a coaching perspective, in this absolutely woeful season.
-
Usually with a young keeper you accept a few mistakes as the price of someone who has potential. Bazunu has shown absolutely nothing - a League One keeper at best - wouldn’t even want him starting for us next season in the Championship. He’s shown less ability than Gunn did during his time with us and it was universally considered the right decision to move on from him. Massive arrogant gamble from Rasmus and Co that has backfired spectacularly. Get rid.

Given the number of youngsters we've been willing to throw into the Premier League when they clearly are not ready (Mara, Edozie etc.) is seems absolute insanity that we did not try and recall Tella in January. Or is it the SR way that any youngsters we play have to be from their fancy spreadsheet?

I went to the game with a mate yesterday in the home end - he is a WHU season ticket holder - he said we were the most negative team he's seen there this season and was surprised by the lack of intensity. The way we play is really strange to watch. My thoughts, in no particular order: There's no pace (until Kamaldeen came on) and barely any attacking intent. Continuing to pick players like Moi is killing us going forward. Teams can just sit off us as they are under no threat - no wonder our passing and possession stats look great, we are given all the time in the world to knock it round in non-threatening areas. We actually defend OK 90% of the time but make some criminal errors/lapses in concentration basically every game and when you can't score that's why you lose 1-0 8 times in a season. Not really his fault but Bazunu was nowhere near the header - he looks like a child playing in goal when a shot is on target. Lavia had some nice touches but again nothing that got us going once we crossed half way. Conversely thought JWP was poor, lost the ball in some poor areas - looked off the pace. Armstrong was woeful. Our play looks very clumsy and haphazard, compared to West Ham who I thought were extremely poor, even when we come away with the ball its usually off the back of almost giving it away. Not the greatest footballer in the world but I'd start with Paul until the rest of the season and try and swing a few more crosses into him. We need goals and we won't score them with Walcott as a number 9 or even with Adams once he comes back. At the very least, the next 9 games might tell us if Onuachu can do a job for us in the Championship. Tough day all round really - hard to see how we will survive from here - on current evidence I don't think Selles is the man to get us back up next year. We need a fresh start in almost all areas.
-
I like Selles as a person (hard not to when the previous incumbent was as unlikeable as it gets) but surely we are going to need some fresh impetus to bring us back next season. If Boro don't go up I would go all out for Carrick. He's the kind of guy that might just turn us round and surely the fans would get behind some kind of project.

Is he really worse than Gazzaniga? Probably is which is saying something...

Got to question what wonderboy Rasmus saw in him.

Bazunu doing his best to lose us that game. We won’t stay up with a keeper making those kinds of mistakes. Lucky boy. Still, big win.

Was appointed in pre-season when we decided to continue with Ralph but overhauled the coaching staff. Point is, he has (at least in part) been a mainstay of this god awful season. The idea that he can now step up and save us and that he’s a better bet than a manager like Marsch is a complete joke.
-
I can’t see past the fact Selles has been here all season and it’s been a disaster. If he’s that inspiring a leader then you’d have thought he’d have imposed his views so far - he is a senior part of the coaching team - and if he has already then he’s partly responsible for the clusterfuck we’ve endured so far this season. We were also absolutely awful in that game v Wednesday that he took charge of. Honestly, how we can, on the one hand, be negotiating ourselves out of a slightly longer contract with Marsch but, on the other, be content to proceed with Selles is absolutely beyond me. It’ll cost these SR amateurs far more than even having to pay off Marsch when we go down. It’s as if we are watching a masterclass in how not to run a football club right now.
-
Might as well pack up and go home here lads - Selles will be a disaster. The Spanish Steve Wigley.
-
Happy enough with Marsch - think people have short memories. He kept an absolutely awful Leeds side up and some of the performances this season were pretty good. Is he the best manager out there? No, but this appointment makes a lot more sense to me than Nathan Jones. If he's happy to stick with us in the Championship and build something (if the worst happens) then all the better.
-
Fuck off Nathan you tosser
-
Nah will be a draw which is the worst of all worlds.
-
Typical Janny B. Once a wanker always a wanker.
-
and with the Wolves loss goes another winnable home fixture. There are only so many games we can afford to throw away.
-
Unbelievable that he is still here, especially with Leeds sacking Marsch. I'd jump at the chance to appoint Marsch, which says it all about NJ really.

Get rid of this muppet tonight. Pub team manager.
-
He got a hand on it - a better keeper would save that.

This is truly pathetic. We have some awful players, don’t we? -

Matt Cash hand ball on the line versus Villa - not given. We've had loads of dodgy ones. -
I always felt a bit sorry for Redmond - he came in after our best ever PL finish, expectations were sky-high and then Koeman left, we brought in Puel (who, at the time, was a bit of an anti-climax compared to some managers we'd been linked with) and our first signing of the summer was Redmond who seemed, at the time, like a massive downgrade on the players we had the previous season and the players we thought we might have been able to attract after finishing 6th. All in all I would say he's been pretty great for us - was excellent at times under Puel (Liverpool semi, Watford away, League Cup final) and Ralph. That said, he's one of the most frustrating players I've watched as a Saints fan. Can't help but feel as though he never quite lived up to his potential and, at times, there was a lack of application when things weren't going well. Good luck to him though.

If Potter has his head screwed on he will steer well clear. Would only end in tears that.
-
Not signing an attacker would leave us a little light (especially if Adams picks up an injury). Hopefully Edozie can step up if he comes in but he sounds a little further behind the other City lads we have brought in. Difficult one for the club now - clearly thought they had Gakpo in the bag which we all agree would have been a superb signing - I don't think we will get Gakpo in the next window now, his stock is going to be too high post-WC so we need to look elsewhere and just depends whether we've got the time to move to the next option today.

Agree - just checked as well - that screenshot is not real.
