  1. Hopefully the Bart is better than Kelvin brigade will **** off now - he's been **** for ages. This just confirms it. Hope he never plays for us again.
  2. Ok well if Lambo is out for this game then I am definitely worried. We might go into another game without a recognised out and out striker on the pitch. Barnard is not ready/unproven at this level.
  3. Is this actually fact and do you know this for certain? I can definitely see us without Chappers but was under the impression Lambert might be back.

Yeah - came up on Sky Sports that it had been overturned.

See another of his atrocious decisions has been overturned by the FA. When will this guy be given the elbow? Surely one of the worst refs around.
  6. Find it very difficult to believe that Voldy will walk away from Pompey - as has been said he has nothing to lose and can leave with his reputation in tack if they go bust as he can say its a difficult situation and all that. Either way, its neither a good/bad time to play them - they have been alright at home this season and we have been poor away. We have better quality players and if we play our best then we can win. But then again we should really have tonked Donny. I think it will be a draw if I had to bet on it.
  7. Looking at the early odds there are some big big name managers on there. Not sure I'd want many of them here over Adkins - but their fans who think they have a god given right to success will demand someone of O'Neil's stature. For this reason I can't see them coming in for Nigel.
  8. When he's good he's great but when he's having an off night he is pretty bad. Last night I was frustrated with him purely because he is so casual. His work rate is pretty poor as well compared to other's in the team. It just seems that his head drops a little when some of his little touches and flicks don't come off. Dropping him however, would be madness.
  9. The booing was completely out of order. It is a worry that when we start to have any kind of minor struggle at home the fans immediately jump on the players back. Moaning football fans are annoying but everyone is entitled to their opinion I suppose and I bet we have all been guilty of it in the past.
  10. As I said in another thread - it is obviously too soon to tell whether he could do a job in the Championship. But from what I could see last night, he won't be used as a starter. He hasn't got the strength to hold it up or the height to flick it on of someone like a Lambert, he hasn't got the skill of someone like Guly and he certainly isn't the quickest. He was clearly very rusty last night but you can at least get a sense of what he might be like up against some of the more organised championship defences. My main worry is that he doesn't have one stand out trait which will stand him in good Championship stead like Lambo and Guly have. I wait to be proven wrong though.
  11. Whilst I don't agree with how strongly Derry put it - there were a few things about Barnard which worried me last night. He doesn't have a great deal of pace or skill (not that he doesn't have any but not blessed with either in abundance) and he seemed to have a hard time holding it up effectively. The reason (IMO) why Lambo and Guly have adapted so well is because they have a particular trait which we emphasise in our play. Guly is skilful and can hold it up whilst Rickie wins it in the air and then has some intelligent build up play to back it up. Whilst I recognise that Barnard looked well off the pace it did worry me that he has no standout trait that we can use effectively. He isn't a target man and he isn't particularly pacey or skilful. For me, he will only ever be a cover option - even though he wasn't 100% last night you can usually make some kind of judgement about a player's effectiveness and he did not look like he would be particularly effective against some of the more organised/physical defences in this league. I'm glad to see him back and hope that he (as some many of our players have this season) proves me wrong.
  12. Steve changed the game - no doubt about that. But Frazer's contribution was the greatest, putting in the crosses for both goals. Looked pretty good defensively too. Cant believe how much he's improved this season! Brilliant so far.
  13. Even if Jos was leaving he's on loan until Jan so this wouldn't be his last home game. Wouldn't read into it at all.
  14. Steeeve changed it - must start against donny. Adkins said Rickie had a hip problem but didn't sounded too concerned about it. Fingers crossed he's alright for Saturday
  15. Not good tonight. Too slow with our build up. No threat. Cork off de ridder on. Strange

A lot of people jumping the gun here I feel. I'm hoping its not serious but there's no point in saying he's done his ACL and wondering if we'll see him again this season until we have it confirmed. Could easily have just been a bad jarring which will settle down. If it was cruciate then he wouldn't have been walking off the pitch (aided or not).
  17. Ah well - it did seem a bit rushed and surely if we'd have wanted him we could/would have got him over the summer. Roll on JRod or Maynard in January.
  18. I can't believe we actually have a thread open for the end of the 'Loan window' - up until yesterday I didn't even know it was 'deadline day'
  19. I think most on here are agreed that an extra striker in the squad would be a good thing. Lukas seems highly rated by most Cov fans and many on here wouldn't have been disappointed if he'd have joined in the summer. If he is the man Adkins wants then I for one have 100% faith, plus he'd initially only be on loan so we'd have a bit of insurance so to speak. The fact that he's a Saints fan should be irrelevant to our decision to sign him BUT the fact that he is means we can expect 110% from him every week and the likelihood of him upsetting the apple cart is, in my opinion, slim.
  20. Some Bristol fans I know reckon they will 'smash us'. I doubt it, as has been said their defence is very slow. Their midfield was also given loads of room by an average Millwall team - we won't allow them that. Its a tricky game but we should come through if we play like we can. 1-3
  21. Defo outside. As for the Hammond one. Was right inline with it in the itchen. Clear contact from the keeper on the man therefore a penalty in my book
  22. and if you want other commentaries like the BBC ones then you can get TuneIn radio app for free and use that.
  23. The team are doing brilliantly but for me the 2002/3 and 2003/4 squads were better (the best I have seen in my lifetime) It's an impossible comparison though because it is all relative. This team is top of the Championship but the 2002/3 team finished 8th in the Premiership. So for me, we can't really compare because we don't know what the current team would do if they were playing in the Prem. Although I don't think they'd finish anywhere near 8th. Also, as much as I like Rickie anyone who thinks he is better than Beatts was then is sadly misguided. How can we possibly say that a player who has never played above Championship level is better than a player who scored 25 goals a season in the top tier of English football and was called into the England squad? Of course, given the opportunity Rickie might emulate Beattie but to say with confidence that he is better than Beattie at this point is madness.
  24. Got it yesterday. It's definitely a step up from MW3 in my opinion. The addition of Survival mode is great fun if you've got a few mates round. The online stuff is much the same, but to be honest people love it so much that why would great changes need to be made? I'm enjoying this year's maps a lot more than the MW2 ones at the moment (maybe its because they're new). Haven't tried the campaign much yet, but I don't really buy it for that - I buy it for the online and the offline multiplayer.
  25. He was also garbage when we played Preston at home in the cup. I thank him for what he did against MK Dons and for being part of what may prove to be a huge turning point in our recent history. But, the fact remains he is far from good enough to play at this level. Good for him that he's off out on loan, but if it became permanent I doubt we'd miss him too much tbh.
