Atmosphere in the Chapel (and in general)
EssEffCee replied to niceandfriendly's topic in The Saints
Decent atmosphere at this end of the ground now, can't really hear the Northam which says it all. Definitely considering moving my seat further back after the Ipswich game. -
I seem to recall there being quite a bit of trouble in the home ends for the L1 promotion game. Didn't the match confirm their relegation too? Understandable that they weren't too happy at loads of ours celebrating in home ends!

Was definitely good to have some atmosphere down that end of the ground. I'm near the front of block 15 but will probably move further back whenever possible or might even try move my ST if they let me. -
I'd sooner ditch zombie nation after the goals. Horrendous.

Pretty sure one of them related to an offside, want to say it was Arsenal involved? The league obviously felt they were wrong enough to publicly apologise. I agree with your point though, one of the reasons var doesn't work is because many of the sports rules are subjective and not factual. My mistake it was PGMOL not the league - https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-var-premier-league-apology-29203162?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target

Pretty sure we do still get howlers. Didn't the league have to apologise to 2/3 clubs in the space of a fortnight last season due to blatantly wrong decisions?
-
Think some Northam blocks will be empty too as they weren't on sale early on.

Will season ticket prices be released now and will you renew?
EssEffCee replied to Paul Chuckle's topic in The Saints
When was the last time we took more than 3k to an evening league match up north? You're expecting this be our best away attendance in years? Before the fixtures were released I'd have fancied us taking a fair few up there based on similar reasons but if you think it being played on a weeknight on Sky will make no difference to the numbers going then I don't know what to say. We never travel that well North of Midlands, especially if the ko time makes it hard to do in one day. Absolutely no chance of us taking more than 3k. Half that amount would be brilliant tbh but I don't even see that. Not even sure if the top tier holds more than 3k now since the capacity of LL has been reduced. -

Yeah there are bound to be some who will go regardless, particularly if making a couple days of it, but there'll be others bound to be put off after paying 30 quid for years being asked to add best part of another score to that. If the tickets are mid 40s plus then I certainly don't see us taking a thousand. -

If we're in the top 3 categories I can't see anymore than 500ish paying about 50 quid to travel to Sheffield on a Friday. -

Nah its a new ticket. Will probably stay where I am as I imagine I'll be able to move up to the back most games if I want and it'll be good to try and get those nearer the front involved too. -
My first ever derby. Will never forget the level of anticipation and buzz in the air on the way to the ground. Nor the amount of hate that seemed to spew from every corner of the ground. I also recall finding it odd that so many around us had left their kids at home and some STH's didn't turn up at all. Forgot how short the 'silence' was cut the horrible scumbag cunts. Couldn't even have been 30 seconds. It definitely raised the temperature levels a bit. One of the top 3 games at St Marys easily I reckon. I certainly can't recall more noise at kick off for a game. Almost forgot to mention but Beattie cupping his ear to them cunts after scoring the opener is an iconic celebration.. Oh a slightly unrelated note hearing Peter Brackley's voice makes me unbelievably nostalgic for Pro Evo 4 😂

Block 15 for me albeit not near back. Would be great to get some atmosphere down that end of ground though. -
Doubt we'll take even a quarter of that to Preston seeing as it's midweek. Presumably those clubs can both accommodate smaller areas and open up tickets for home fans too as those figures are the entire stand.
-
Where did you get this list from? Surely clubs with 30k+ capacities will have to offer 3k in line with regulations. Not that we'd be taking 3k to the likes of Sunderland and Boro of course but we've taken more than those quoted figures to Leeds and Norwich in recent seasons. Cardiff too on our last visit there I believe. Think Wednesday can offer more too although again not likely to affect us. They did have a capacity reduction on the Leppings Lane earlier this year mind.

'Goal' celebration was brilliant, probably best I've been part of years I reckon. Typical it was disallowed!

We don't have enough supporters willing to sing to have a proper home end. Where the away fans are whilst annoying isn't the main cause of poor atmosphere at the ground imo. It's only a huge problem for FA Cup games and that's also on the club inexplicably offering more tickets than we have to. The idea that moving away fans to a corner or trying to create a home end is going to turn the ground into some sort of bear pit is for the birds.
-
Knew this would happen. Bet they didn't want loads of Saints fans going down on the drink all day on a Saturday when we've already been relegated.
-
Same as Aribo has a song despite being a dreadful footballer.
-
Not difficult to see why we don't score many...
-
More Saturday 3pm KO's. Better home atmospheres. New grounds to visit. For those saying no VAR then there's a very good chance that the championship brings in a watered down version next season unfortunately.
-
Those few seasons tend to all blur into one for me. Don't think I could recall more than a handful of matches from that whole period and I had a season ticket for all bar 08/09.
-
Yeah that rings a bell actually. BWP got both?
-
Don't think Reading's record point total was the year we went up with them (as it was still fairly close up until their 3-1 win at St Marys towards the end of the season if I remember rightly), think it was the first time they were promoted. Our first season in championship post relegation perhaps?

You've obviously seen me at London away matches before!
