Bramall Lane 16/12/14 revisited.

Indiana? Casey? Jack......? Very confusing.

Yep, Merson needs one of these And this needs one of those

It's the perfect day and setting to reintroduce the infamous 'Alehouse Brawlers' to the world. Edit: before someone else points it out, realistically we'd end up with around 5-6 players left on the pitch - on both sides for different reasons.
-
OK, someone's got to do it it was a happy time for us all bouncing up and down the terraces!
-
Perfectly understandable that eyebrows were raised when his name was first linked but some of the reactions have been bordering on the hysterical. I’m onboard now and my vigour has been revigged! Now looking ahead to, no doubt, drawing Luton away in the FA Cup and, if he’s proves a success here, will probably be linked to the Wales job in a few years.

Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread

We’ve got just the man joining today to sort that out -
Was mostly tongue-in-cheek, hence the last sentence

We're clearly slipping down the pecking order with each new acquisition. But 'joking' aside, maybe there is an element of truth about this - both the Turkish and Irish clubs (Shelbourne are already multiple league and cup winners and have previously qualified for the Champions League qualifying rounds) could far more easily become big hitters in their respective leagues and then play regularly in European competition. At best, if SR were to progress SFC it could really only to become a regular top-half side with most realistic targets of a cup or European qualification. More seriously, I can't really believe that we're not seen as the pinnacle of SR clubs right now (despite the state of everything!) which might only change if they're buy a genuinely bigger club or the 'Big 6/7/8' fook off to some super league and take the TV money with them.

Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread

Didn’t know that. If we progress hopefully we pull a home tie, still irks a bit when nearly 6,000 of us trudged up to Sheffield midweek just before Christmas a few years back and were treated to a shocker of a journey and performance. -
Are we sure this is not some SR revolutionary coaching vision set-up which would see a Selles-Jones-dream-team? Or should we just put down the crack pipe…
-
Yep, nice welcome awaits him in the Potteries, he’ll be getting pelters from both sets of fans

Every time I hear Nessun Dorma it still stirs the emotions both joy and pain.

Although I was around for '66 I can't remember anything about it other than what I've seen on TV. 1970 was the first I was aware of and seemed so exotic, coming from the other side of the world, as you say, grainy pictures and commentary that sounded like it was coming down the telephone. But 1974 was the best for me (the famous Cruyff turn replicated/attempted by so many of us kids the following weekend in matches), I can still name so many of the players from the big teams, even some of the lesser nations! Haiti and Zaire getting tonked, 30-yard screamers, gutted England never made it. Loved them all up to the '90 but (after being shit early on) that semi-final defeat remains one of my most painful moments in football. Like the FA Cup years earlier, the 'magic' began to weaken after Italia'90 and then Mexico. I will be staunchly England during Qatar but, other than being able to watch a bit of live football on cold dark days, has about as much appeal as the League Cup at the moment.

Saints 1-4 Newcastle - Match Thread
alehouseboys replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
That was a cracker. The atmosphere was throbbing as the game wore on, and it was the vocal support, the roar, that dragged us back into it. The night the Archers stood up and never sat back down. Edit: Another game - I can also remember walking out of the Dell almost time up 0-2 down to them, by the time I'd reached Hill Lane it was 2-2. -

Wasn’t that ‘Pirate Paul’? I must have been around 30 at that time and used to stand on the lower East Terrace, think I only ever went in the ‘new’ Milton twice at best, full of 13-14 year olds 🥴 That Les Sealy was a bit of a coont too. -
Anyone who parks in Eastgate Multstorey on Match Days
alehouseboys replied to Nolan's topic in The Saints
Get an efficient public transport system up and running first then closing all these city centre roads and car parks is understandable. Pie-in-the-sky but an extensive underground network, tram system or…blast from the past…monorail, then it’s a goer! Matchdays for out-of-towners will probably become too much of a pain in the nutsack for many, especially if the trains continue to act up. -

But you’d still rather have Redknapp back. As someone once said “wowoweewah” -

Tbh, he’s entitled to have a smug look on his face (although think it’s really just his natural expression) as he’s doing a very good job up there. -
Southampton Sunak ( 1 ) v Portsmouth Morduant ( 0 )
alehouseboys replied to Charlie Wayman's topic in The Saints
I think he's a Tottenham fan but developed a soft spot for SFC as mates with (Saints fan) Roger Black and Matt Le Tiss, and has since become a club ambassador. Along with Roger Black, Tiff Needall is another 'celeb' Saints fan from the 'PO' area. -
Tbf, on another day we'd have been buried out of sight by halftime.

I think he’ll be a very good player for us and more important if we were to lose Salisu (as suggested by some) in the Jan/summer windows. Is it me or does it look like he’s wearing eye-liner in some photos?
