  1. But what does this bit actually mean, I honestly don't know, you have 'land and sea' isn't that enough water? The first time I heard Saints fans singing that was back early 80s after a trip to West Brom, their fans were sining '...and Villa' on the end, I just thought our more dopey fans just misheard it and started singing it anyway Bit like how some Arsenal adapted a Spurs chant back then to "You're just a Scottish Jew, Archibald, Archibald", because he was Scottish and who he played for. Some time later, we were up at Anfield (1-0 win, Stevie Moran again!) and some of our dopey lot start singing "You're just a Scottish Jew, Dalglish, Dalglish".
  2. I blame the Peaky Blinders.
  3. I can see the fly in the ointment here.
  4. If only Ralph had come out and said so rather than saying after the mach that he didn't know anything about an injury or why Cedric pulled out, speculation could have been nipped in the bud instantly.
  5. *sw_anky
  6. Danny Rohl must have been sat in the stands of Spurs s****y new stadium last night thinking "how sh*t must Southampton have been to lose to these with 10 men on Saturday"?
  7. Thinking about it, Foley's coaches must have been more like 40 years ago. Jeez.
  8. That youtube link probably comfirms why it's best left in the murky past. I've never heard it sung inside the ground but once, probably 30-odd years ago and on the rare occasion I went away on one of Foley's coaches, there was half a dozen drunkenly singing this. I guessed it must've been popular with the locals around Woolston but probably just something a bit strange to the rest of us.
  9. I've been going since the start of the 70s and I've only heard it attempted once a long time ago, a handful singing this strange ditty, sounded like a bunch of folk singers. It would also be a 'no' from me.
  10. I guess we have to take that as proof then, just amazed Ralph still didn't know anything about that after the match on Saturday. Drama over
  11. Tbf, you sound like a tough guy....
  12. When can you leave?
  13. It could be that Wolves will only give SFC more tickets if they pay up front with no refund for any unsold, that would probably be enough for our club to just take what we've already got. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot though if that is the case as they can't then sell tickets down that side to home fans and will be missing out on a few extra grand in the bank.
  14. Was it a black eye after he upset someone? You can't blame fans for speculating when the manager is reported as saying it wasn't an injury and he doesn't know why he disappeared from the team sheet.
  15. Well, I got the ball rolling with reference to the '70s and 80s', maybe you need to read it a bit more carefully and absorb the content and I can't really see where any others posts have suggested otherwise. Most accept those days are just history now.
  16. The problem is, many of us older fans just remember the ‘good old days’ of a more aggressive and intensive support of the 70s and 80s (tbh it could be pretty sh*t plenty of times back then too) but it’s just different now. The ‘famous’ old British-type support just doesn’t exist anymore. I’m currently watching Portland Timbers v New England on FreeSports, they make a constant racket and nearly half hour in the home support just haven’t let up. Comes to something when UK supporters could learn off the Yanks.
  17. Really? I'd think the manager would be the first to know. He stated after the match that he had no idea why Cedric pulled out, I'm sure he does really, but if it were an injury he would have said so.
  18. He was fit at 5-to-3 yesterday.
  19. There's clearly been an altercation of sorts, Ralph has said it wasn't an injury but claims he doesn't know why Cedric pulled out. Either Cedric's gone off in a huff or Ralph's sent him packing, if it were only tactical then Cedric would have been on the bench. Bit of a pattern emerging.
  20. quelle surprise...........
  21. Cameras weren't there.
  22. This all day, but a bit frustrating all the same and bit baffling with some of Ralph 's decisions today. Straight swap of Valery after Cedric's withdrawal and subs far too late but, as mentioned, Tuesday cushions the blow.
  23. Those last few went quick bu it does say 'initial allocation' on the OS. There is blocks JL9 and JL10 still possibilities on the Steve Bull Lower (aways), JL10 maybe for segregation but we'll surely take the extra JL9 block with 3 weeks to go? https://www.southamptonfc.com/matches/2019-20/wolves-v-saints-2019-10-19/ticket-info
  24. We won’t hammer them
  25. Needs a goal. Simple as that. He’s young, learning the PL - and all strikers go through lean spells.
