The only drabness will be from the home support as usual. There'll be plenty of atmosphere from them, they're so excited and they'll be swinging their Harry Haddock's with all their might. It's "not their cup final" but apparently we won't know what's hit us with their support. I'm watching on the box with the volume off.

FFS, there’s some damning statistics on this thread - 30 home PL wins in something like 7 years…and a third of those behind closed doors 🥴 FFS indeed

Just another cantankerous 'character'

...childish

It actually had a capacity of nearer 60,000 at its peak but, as you say, they only ever got 2 attendances a fraction over 50k even in that golden age when they used to let thousands of locally based servicemen into the stadium for free to boost their gates. Their crowds rapidly fell away after their luck ran out in the 50s. The blue bitterness only really took a grip as hooliganism became a thing late 60s/70s and they really couldn't handle that the balance of power had clearly shifted on the central south coast.

Well, he was doing the job of two men (and yes, the women inbetween does need a double take!)
-
Ditto - hopefully though, he’s the kind of character to keep them on their toes. Lose Saturday and no doubt they’ll be some who’ll moan “why didn’t we wait, “we’re shit again”, etc. - like everyone, I feel more positive after last weekend but still a massive job to avoid the drop even with an upturn in performance.

Yep, sad news. A stalwart of the game for many of us growing up watching in the seventies, made the sheepskin his own! RIP

Kenneth meet Peter. Peter meet Kenneth.

Can they get away with not giving us a percentage of pitchside seating this way? Thought they had to in the PL (unless you’re NUFC of course). Would think more likely they just move the divide further across. Club probably had to make a decision soon after the Wolves defeat, fans had had enough so can’t blame them not chancing more tickets. Then we beat Chelsea…

Tough game, they'll certainly see this as a 'must-win' and a fixture where they should be getting maximum points now. Like at Everton, their crowd will be pumped up, we've already sold out the away allocation but I assume we didn't take the max so will need to be up for it to have an impact. Hoping for a similar outcome to Goodison but have to be realistic and may have to be content with taking a point. Edit: Wrong thread!

They'll probably get a outbreak of some mystery virus this week knocking out a dozen players and get the game postponed...

Tbf, that wasn’t ’his’ team, he would have been taking instruction from the man in charge. Not that we’ve got time but he needs a couple of games to instil his identity on the side. All we can do for now is sit back and, hopefully, enjoy the ride.
-
Most of us liked Ralph but he was done. I get he was let down with recruitment but it had gone stale, and he was baffling a lot of us with his decisions. Plus he was, in his own words, ready for getting out of the game soon anyway. This is now about the incompetence in replacing him.

Excitable chants of “Rooney, Rooney, Rooney…” were heard ringing out from the Derby Road district of Southampton this morning as news filtered through from SaintsWeb that his name had indeed been linked…
-
Championship is most likely whoever comes in. Nobody's relegated in Jan/Feb but we look all set, but I probably won't be laying this on Marsch'/whoever's door if/when it happens. I'm also happy to give the fella a fair go.

FFS, another looker wearing our away kit! I’m onboard, good as it gets in the circumstances, just hope our more wacky fans don’t overdo the “USA, USA, USA…” stuff

That's guaranteed every Grimsby fan will now bring an inflatable something else then. No-one's safe. strange but harmless, weird decision by the club
-
Well, he's got PL experience this time.................
-
Yep, sounds fun - unfortunately 90% of our crowd are more your Vera Lynn/Glen Miller types so…..unless he could bring around 30,000 of his buddies with him
-
He may be free next week if Chelsea lose their next home game to that side at the bottom who everyone else beats.

I'm just watching Saturday Morning Kitchen and the chef on there this morning is named Nathan Outlaw. Hmmmm.
-
Right, what happens is.............we're 0-3 down at 45mins, Jones is sacked at halftime. Appeal goes out over PA for anyone in the crowd with experience of managing a Tyro League team (is that still a thing?), up steps one of SaintsWeb's finest, SFC gloriously slot home a winning forth deep into stoppage time. Could happen, couldn't it.....?

Less than 1,000 left, not too shabby in the circumstances, not sure what you’re seeing? Could even sell out before kick-off.
