  1. FFS, every time you say that, most weeks, we come unstuck.....
  2. Funnily enough, I was looking at this the other day and some were suggesting a WC 2030 south coast venue would be needed and championed St Mary's with a grant-supported capacity increase 🙂 lights touch paper and moves away....... https://www.skyscrapercity.com/threads/world-cup-2030-great-britain-ireland.2303336/page-2
  3. Probably not but hopefully he can adapt.
  4. And I think all this will improve him as a manager. I would think/hope he'll develop his tactics as it's glaringly obvious where we're going wrong on and off the pitch. Once his hands are untied and funds available to build a squad in his making then we'll know for sure. Results and form have been erratic but he's had to work with a limited and mostly average bunch of players, if he's forced out I think someone else will benefit from all this.
  5. In recent times: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg Jan Vestergaard* Fraser Forster* *hero>zero>hero>tbc Yesteryear: Lew Chatterley Paul Bennett Franny Benali
  6. Didn't it put their noses out because we refused to give them a 'guard of honour' as they run onto the pitch back in their League One glory days? Lightweights.
  7. When we did enjoy a little spat with them in the late 70s, it was not unusual to hear their "seagulls, seagulls" chant answered with a "seaweed, seaweed". It wasn't big and it wasn't clever but it happened. 😎 Always a nice trip to the seaside tho.
  8. Looks like some agree with you, just read this elsewhere.... “Southampton's winning run can't last forever - and City's losing streak has to end at some point”
  9. Managed to ignore that 'challenge' right at the end, bit surprised as they made a big thing about it on Final Score suggesting it would certainly be analysed later on MOTD. Not the toughest opposition but a good performance, particularly second half, 2 great finishes but really the three points were all that mattered yesterday.
  10. Just a few more crazy laws to change now https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56291850
  11. You say that just about every time...tbh, I won’t be taking any betting tips from you ; )
  12. ...until around 8.45pm a week Wednesday.
  13. To lighten to gloom - fast forward to 1:40 to see VAR working for us followed by a moment of magic
  14. not sure how old or if already posted but saw it linked on the UI https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/22/sign-of-the-times-how-english-clubs-are-turning-to-high-interest-us-loans
  15. Sunday 14th March 12.00 kick-off https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56188865
  16. It's the classic everyone wanting to play, wanting the ball when you're winning, but players going missing when things turn bad. It certainly lays bare the character of a player. We clearly need some hard heads in there to shake a few up - having said that, the infamous Alehouse Brawlers were still capable of shipping 7 at Leeds! I would imagine Gao is beginning to regret not taking a deal on the club right now.
  17. It would be quite hard to start tbh! It can't be far away from the point the season closed down last year where after it transformed our season. Any chance for another complete lockdown?
  18. I wonder if portsea island’s finest will all be stood outside going all weak at the knees and clapping?
  19. This made me a bit nostalgic, thought I'd take a look and see if there was any footage out there from 1978. Couldn't find anything but stumbled across a couple of interesting bits. Some photos, including Saints fans celebrating on the pitch at Orient in '66 on gettyimages (I was a bit too young to be there for that one, another five years before I started going) https://www.gettyimages.ie/photos/orient-southampton-1966?family=editorial&phrase=orient southampton 1966&sort=best# And an old thread from 2009 - with mention of Tony Funnell's iffy miss v spurs in that last game
  20. Only just had chance to watch Nordic’s first video link, good watch. I just assumed Funnell must have come from the Bournemouth area, sounded like it, surprised to see he was an Eastbourne lad on Fitzhugh’s post. Took me back to bouncing around the on the Putney End when he popped it in right in front of us. And then a great view of him nodding it in at Orient - we’d clambered up into the roof at the back as that side terrace was rammed to breaking point, the noise and scenes were manic.
  21. Yep, great memories - he only really broke into the side in the last couple of months of that season....but what a couple of months! Once he got his chance he started scoring for fun. Remember dicking promotion rivals Blackburn 5-0 at the Dell where he continued his scoring spree, the following Friday night we took 10,000 up to Fulham and he did it again. A few weeks later he was knocking in the goal that all but sealed promotion midweek up in the East End to the delight of 3/4s of the 19,000 attendance that night! 10,000 made the trip up to Luton in between those games, happy days.
  22. In your TV menu there should be an option to set up a wireless connection to your wifi. I've got Virgin so it's on channel 205, you'd just need to sign in (it gives you a code to enter on amazon.co.uk/mytv on on your computer/device). If you've had the Prime free trial recently it blocks you taking it out again for a few months. Edit: OK Totton Saint, nice one, hadn't seen your update before posting
  23. If you don't cancel it then Amazon would just take £7.99 for another month and so on. However, it asks if you'd like a reminder a few days before it's due where you can then cancel before payment comes out, you'd get an email. Alternatively, there's nothing to stop you signing up and then cancelling almost straight away, you'll still get it free for the remainder of the month.
  24. Can't really ask for a better draw, on paper, but as someone who was up in Sheffield half a dozen years back to witness us going out to a League One side in the FL Quarter Finals, I won't get too carried away. Great draw all the same.
