Unlike Trousers of course, but I think he had his tongue firmly in his cheek https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/gallery/celtic-unveil-new-manager-brendan-8032403

Simple, lose the aways in either the Kingsland/Northam or Kingsland/Chapel corner (and out of sight of the TV cameras) and just keep the fuckers in for half hour after the game like the good ol’ days. Alternatively, as Lord Ducky says.

Nutshell.

Even at 86 I think he'd intimidate a bit more fight out of our current lightweights

Despite scraping through, I'd certainly throw Lincoln at home into the mix. When you think back to how the Dell transformed into a raucous unwelcome place for visiting teams in all those relegation battles, St Mary's is just so flat...dead...reflecting these gutless players/manager/club. Like other old gits, my third relegation from the top flight (4th inc Championship to L1), just numb to it tbh.

For those interested, this city masterplan maps out how they want Southampton to develop over the next couple of decades https://www.southampton.gov.uk/media/bulfgzn2/mayflower-quarter-masterplan-c.pdf ...good luck with that, it takes an age to get anything off the ground in this city, probably not in my lifetime!

Bargate in 2024, ToysRUs was meant to start 'early 2023' it's now 'sometime in 2023'. Demolition hasn't even started yet (was meant to be last year). With the cost of building materials escalating, they're probably getting a bit nervous about the £200m completion figure. Shame, that and the failed Nelson Gate redevelopment would have significantly improved the area around the Central station. The Leisureworld, Debenhams and Britannia Road Gasworks projects also appear to have stalled.

Anyone got a spare ticket for the Newcastle game this Sunday?
alehouseboys replied to kenneth_kenobi's topic in The Saints
Looks like quite few do, think we took something like 1,800 allocation and has sold out. Surprising as live on SKY, on a Sunday and been there recently (oh, and watching us is rarely a good thing these days). Suspect a few Geordies may have picked some off once they got to general sale. We've taken the full allocation for Forest too, just under 3,000 with just a few hundred left. Another surprise really as it's on SKY again on a Monday night, fair play to those travelling. -
And I bet they'll bill it as a South Coast 'Derby' (despite us being closer to Birmingham).

Almost a full day since the last post on here with the match just a couple of days away, not really grabbing the attention. Still around 1,500 tickets available (and how many ST holders will just not bother?) - find it hard to dislike them, they're just.....well, you know.....but nice to turn them over and drag them back into it a little.

His time was done, get over it.

I would not be surprised in the slightest to see him still sitting there throughout the first 45 on Thursday too, it's what we do. Fuck the 'impact sub' malarkey, start him, if he's playing well, keep him on, and FFS try and win a fucking home game for a change.

Our moto should be 'nunca te despiertes' - 'Never wake up'

Ain't that just what Arsenal charge all aways?

Likely now they'll get loads more making a weekend of it.

Relegation - What two teams do we take with us

Golden Raspberry End of Season Player & Manager Awards
alehouseboys replied to Saint Billy's topic in The Saints
Can’t argue with suggestions so far but would just chuck Lincoln in there - we won, just, but how we set up at and performed at home to L1 opposition set the benchmark for the rest of the season. -
Optimistic Warmer…

Hopefully a few more will join in with you next time

Just been looking at a thread on the UI talking about how plans for safe-standing at St Mary's this summer could become a victim of cost-cutting after relegation. I would have thought any new rail seating would already be ordered and on their way if they were serious with only a few weeks til end of season. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/forum/296798/safe-standing/#7 https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23211571.southampton-fc-hoping-implement-safe-standing-upcoming-summer/

You're clearly not familiar with the legend that is........Barry
-
If they do keep with them, they should just do the (short) 'death march' thing out of site in the tunnel at the Chapel/Kingsland corner and burst into the upbeat version as they emerge into the stadium, it's depressing enough as it is...

When was the last time you saw St Mary's actually full? We've had countless 'sell-outs' over the years (even when holidays/poor form haven't been an issue) and it's been impossible to buy tickets, yet come matchday batches of empty seats. That must be pretty frustrating for fans who tried but were unable to purchase.
