...and STIIIIILLLLL you cant fill that little ol' ground of yours every week...:smt023

...which were then offered to home fans. No matter how you dress it up you skates could only muster less than 18,000 home fans, surely all those others than are gonna fill your new stadium (oh...) could have snapped up those seats? Top-half-Prem/Cup winners/Europ(...oops, forget that one)/crest-of-a-wave-side = 18,000 fans Bottom-end-of-the-league/worse-period-in-living-memory/losing-at-home-most-weeks-side = 15,000 ...what's more shocking?

...but Saints playing at Wembley in blue!!! Probably one of the loudest crowds I've been in particularly when we were fighting back towards the end. Every Saints attack was roared on by a thunderous noise, remember my mate's nipper in tears at the final whistle as the emotion got to him...and he was a Spurs fan! Worst thing of the day was sitting still on the North Circular what seemed for hours (before nad after), missing out on the pub before because of it and only getting inside Wembley right on kick-off.

...well it was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that it was a "kind" of racism...but...a few of us do see them as an entirely different race to the rest of the world and many of the characteristics of racism are displayed in this behaviour.
-
This is setting a dangerous precedent for the future of the English match atmosphere and why has Hants OB waited til now when the skates have been singing about "Scummers" (kind of racism?) and "...hitting 'him with a brick..." for 3 decades? You could randomly point those cameras at any stand at fartton and catch a criminal.... ...of course, I'm not suggesting there may possibly be one in this patricular random photo...

Funny chant? ...gotta be when we played Man U, think it was something like 4th Jan 2009 "ere to see United, yer only 'ere to see United..." all those Saints fans singing it to all those...er...Saints fans... Personal fave (as mentioned above) " The wheels on yer house go round-and-round..."
-
Also says on the OS that the Mancs have taken 15% which means just under 5000 (in the away section!). Nice to see they're also bigging up our greatest hour, the '76 cup triumph, on there...shame they've just taken down Lawrie Mac's photo with the cup in the boardroom...
-
Will probably mean the Mancs will have most of the pubs sewn up around St Marys long before we all start trundling into town. And with it being the first game between the two sides since the 'Battle of Golden Grove' I would imagine they'll be a hefty OB presence in the area.

Anti...Gallic...they don't like the French. Do they like northeners?

I reckon it's 'cos now their the richest club in the world he likes to rub our noses in it what with them walking the league, Loftus Road bursting at the seams with twice as many fans as us...oh, hang on... Was interesting to see Charlton fans struggled to fill only the top tier at QPR the other night...that must be an away trip of all of 7 or 8 miles...
-
A bit more amusing than the usual drivel you get on opponents...tho' that bullshi...myth about a dock strike certainly gets around...

"Fratton Park, the Gulag Archipelago of the Premier League, is situated close to the Portsmouth mudflats, in the middle of the hunched houses and tight streets of a inbred community...." :smt103

I did like... "Fratton Park, which every Southampton supporter will tell you is, spelt backwards, "nottarf krap," is the sort of stadium that encourages visitors to wipe their feet on departure" and... "Fratton Park, the Gulag Archipelago of the Premier League, is situated close to the Portsmouth mudflats, in the middle of the hunched houses and tight streets of a busy community and its distance from Milan's San Siro is best measured in light years." also... "Fratton Park now has the look of a cowshed on life support..." and not forgetting... "...Henry James, said rather harshly: "Portsmouth is dirty but it is also dull," when he visited the place in 1879 - and that was 19 years before Fratton Park was built"
-
Yeah but...if noone mentioned Lowe 'some' on here would have been going on about how "...one win and a good performance and all the Lowe haters disappear...", don't you think?
-
...but...and I do realise 'Arry wanted to manage a "big club"...if you were really gonna build a new stadium...and...you had no financial problems, then just why did he f*k orf so suddenly from his retirement home? And you must admit, Ms 'bridge too far' does raise a very good point about our more significant city status.

How to ruin a football club in less than 5 years
alehouseboys replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Not exactly true (tho' it's obvious they're a bigger club than us) most of their crowds are averaging around the low 20,000s, they've also had a 10,000 gate this season against Palace in the cup. Like us they're capable of getting 30,000+ particularly as they're getting so many Yorkshire derbies these days and their crowds now are better than when they were last in the Championship. Going into administration galvanised their support which saw their attendances jump, they are also winning most games and you can buy tickets behind the goals for as little as £16 adults, £8 kids. I reckon our gates would improve in similar circumstances. -
Cheers St L, I've actually already checked out Novatech for replacing the original 'Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB ATA' (and having looked back it's 6 years old) which I've read some pretty ropey reviews on recently. Appears Maxtors were reliable HDDs until they reached about 80GB, now it seems best avoided.
-
Oh well, guess Novatech it is then......

Thought I may be pushing me luck....or maybe you could ask 'em for me...:smt023

I bought a Targa PC from Lidl 6 or 7 years ago, still a reasonable spec machine today tho' the hard drive has just gone Pete Tong. They sound like nice people those Germans, do you think they'd give me a new one?

Are we better off than when Crouch was here?
alehouseboys replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Once the Dell went 15,000-ish-all-seater most games were a sell-out for 'home fans', empty seats were usually to be found in the away section that couldn't be sold on to home supporters (like at other grounds nearby) due to segregation and access. I remember only once did they ever release the entire lower tier to Saints fans and that was for a game against Wimbledon as they had barely 100 or so in the top tier and they never had hoolies. It was then that they restricted season ticket sales and also memberships to a total of something like 26,000, I believe it was estimated that there was a 5 year waiting list for STs. And as you say they they left x-amount of seats available for those without STs so they all at least had a chance of going to a game. You may have always been able to get a ticket as I bet you got yours earlier in the week, many of our lot have always been notorious for leaving it to the last minute and they regular turned people away from the ticket office on matchdays. And we may now have a 'hardcore' of 14,000-odd that are turning up inspite of everything but I now plenty that have been 'hardcore' for 40-odd years but are presently staying away. -

But........you’ve just had the best 5 or so years of your lives, big name players, promotion, us relegated, ‘Arry coming back...ok maybe not that one anymore;)...winning the cup, Europe...but you still can’t fill that little ol’ ground of yours. Wasn’t there only 12,000 home fans inside fartton against Chelski in the cup the other week? The facts are you’ve had 1000s of empty seats this season (and many before) that could have been bought by home fans, you’re gonna need to find 15-20,000 new fans to fill your new ground (if...) why aren’t they clamouring to snap up tickets when they're regularly becoming available already? Nah, ‘Arry sussed you, that’s why he’s naffed off to a “big club” and Gaymac’s also had enough, they now know they’ve taken you as far as they can. BTW it’s true the Dell wasn’t always full, sometimes a few hundred short of capacity but it generally it was for home fans - unlike farrton, unsold seats couldn’t then be sold on to home fans.
