  1. Would be nice but can't see two good quality CBs willing to drop a division to sit on the bench, if true would probably mean Jaidi becomes a cover player?
  2. A lot of fans boycotted that game in a 'Branfoot Out' protest (think it was a Friday night?) so many of us unfortunately missed that Ruddock classic! I reckon Fergie's ol' 'Grey Shirts' merits a mention too.
  3. ...but that would just be pendantic wouldn't it... My ol' man, grandad and uncles were all Southampton dockers, they always liked to rob each other of the weekly wage playing Kalooki -Jamaican Rummy (2 packs) - but they'd say 'Mush' had French origins.
  4. Well, the statue, as shocking as it initially was, went on to provide some of the funniest responses ever from many on here. I do remember having a chuckle the day Rich Chorley and 'The Valley Slags' performed Le Tiss' "Bring Him on For England" at half time at the Dell v Leeds. He decided to 'involve' the northeners who didn't appreciate it and a near mini-riot broke out. But also fond, amusing memories of Everton's John Bailey who dreaded turning out at the Dell for the constant barrage of abuse he got for getting Ossie and Steve Williams sent off away at Blackburn in '78. The second he set foot onto the pitch the onslaught began and he would just wilt looking skywards shaking his head. Deserved everything he got, cheating b'strd. How we larfed.
  5. I'm sure I remember Wupert saying it was hardly needed in the 'mild south' and that it was also very costly to run even against getting the game played. It's also been mentioned that it can ruin the pitch by damaging the grass roots and, as you say, after all that it's usually unsafe access to stadiums for fans, players and emergency services that get them postponed.
  6. Peter Storrie-Teller currently on SNS, "wages have been paid" and he "hopes" this won't happen next month. Oh "not yet in players hands"....lots of coughing and spluttering!
  7. If fans are juggling finances to fund (a lot of) up-and-coming games then Luton was certainly missable.
  8. I'd take another "easier" tie next round and hopefully progress, then by the time the 5th Round comes around we'll most likely had strengthened giving us a better shout against tougher opposition...then we can get slightly less humiliated away to the Arse!
  9. ...mack rill, carp ho, PES, 19C.....and what name did Wupert post under...........? ....faaackin' kaaaants!
  10. Anything over 15,000 for this game would be an outstanding attendance between a third-tier and non-league club - and better than many others in this round including a couple of Prem sides...you know who...
  11. A “few”?!!!! There go my sides....... Let’s be honest, most Saints fans have never understood the skates extreme hate and bitterness for anything from an ‘SO’ postcode (other than the few you accept from just over the border that jumped on your bandwagon – fickle skate ****s) which kicked in around the late 60s. Watching the skates work themselves into a frenzy at the mere mention of the ‘S’ word was source of great amusement if not a little bemusement. Whilst you barely registered with us we appeared to be the centre of your universe, bizarre. You were our closest rivals yet we rarely played each other so while we carried on not giving a fugg about ya, your bitterness just grew and grew. If you worked together banter for most Saints fans was tongue-in-cheek, for the skates just pure malice. Today most Saints fans that claim to ‘hate’ the skates is a result of this unexplainable hate sent our way, not some fictitious “dock strike” or any other bizarre story created to give some kind of justified meaning to your extreme behaviour. Some of our younger fans have only experienced this side of portsmyth. You can dress it up however you like but most of us know it aint a “few”.
  12. You're right the Reebok is a nice little stadium (still a bit big for p*rtsmuff's needs of course) but....built in the middle of nowhere and, as you say, for a similar cost to SMS but had it been built 4 years later (as SMS) that cost would probably have risen another £20m. Unlike SMS tho' it's not designed for expansion. The Walkers, identikit to SMS, built one year later, £5m more. If all your new fans disappear as quickly as they arrived you'll soon be able to clear your debts by selling off 3 sides of fartton to the Supermarket giants and just keep the listed South stand. It'll be big enough - everybody's happy
  13. ...pain in the a*se...called the taxman... ...and a one-way ticket to the Scrubs.
  14. He does sum it up very well, doesn't he...............
  15. It was 1,700 under the official capacity (tho' due to segregation that figure will never be realised unless it's ever Saints fans only) and it was a total sell-out to home fans. The only areas still available were corporate (which are included in the official capacity) and in the away section, exactly where the empty Itchen/Northam corner was. These seats are in the away section and never available to Saints fans. 30,890 is an excellent crowd in the Prem, in the third tier of English football it is amazing.
  16. I'm a bit surprised they don't just open the Kingsland centre in these situations. The most expensively priced seats and never a shortage of takers for the halfway line area. Then at least the players wouldn't be running out to a bank of empty red seats in front of them.
  17. Latest pictures realised...suspect seen fleeing building...8-[
  18. Has League One ever had a day before with such high attendances with so many clubs? Southampton 31,000, Leeds 30,100, Norwich 25,000 (probably could have had more if Carrow Road was bigger) and Charlton 17,000 (good for League One - but for second place in division?). The Leeds game with full away support and better corporate take-up and then more games towards the end of season will hopefully see 32k plus at SMS.
  19. Lighten up it is the banter board And I would question your view on the "majority" not wanted to see us go bust...my view and in my experience of all things portsmyth the "majority" would've loved it.
  20. Oh dear, first a fire-sell of players...next fartton? All together now... "Blue-Few, you're always standing alone, Without more fans in your stands, Without a ground of your own" ...fingers crossed....and no f**k orf, you can't ground-share...
  21. So if there's loads of empty seats in the "sold-out" family area then the club will know they got it wrong and some fans have taken the club for mugs. Bet there aint. It's a great way to get kids there at this level of football, the club should be commended.
  22. ...that's me about to stick it in the bottom corner...marvelous.......
  23. Ahhh, the famous ol' 'Wembley Trophy' orange plastic football, was like heading a ball made of sandpaper...still with scars to prove it!
  24. "Oh my God, I just so can't believe you just said that!"
