  1. First off I agree, I'm all for staying put IF these decisions are ever needed to be made but...if you really do want to "see proper ends" the last thing you want is "two tiers". Making some of the famous old 'ends' two tiers has destroyed the atmosphere at many grounds, Arsenal's North Bank, Villa's Holt and Man U's Stretford ends to name a few. I really can't see them pulling down SMS just to build an entirely new ground on the same site, you'll just have to live with an adapted bowl design, me thinks. And the only way to get "close® to the pitch" is to excavate down which, being near the river, would prove an expensive waterproofing exercise! ...someone suggested this design for expansion had been looked at previously, maybe the 'ends' could be expanded the same way, give the stadium a nice 'flow'...appropriately a bit like the sea to reflect our maritime history.
  2. Is that an old snapshot of some of the 'Wagon' boys? Looks like a young Richie-what's-is-name third from right! Anyways, this was considered acceptable attire once upon a time...
  3. Only if you come from somewhere like...say...Salisbury, as this is Southampton not appropriate or amusing whatsoever*. Embarrassing in fact. *as is the "you fat b'stard" btw
  4. Not so sure, every time I see his ugly mug on the telebox he seems a bit twitchy to me...............................
  5. I'm fairly certain I've seen before somewhere that if ST holders book a hospitality package they are refunded the cost of the matchday ticket. It may have been in the back of an old ST voucher booklet. I've just checked mine and it isn't stating that this season, maybe worth a phonecall. There is a voucher at the back of the booklet for a 10% discount for ST holders which could be an added bonus.
  6. See, you got something there, wouldn't it be heartwarming to hear "Scummers, Scummers....." resounding round fartton and dean court every other week as the blue few and bumfluff hail us, their superior neighbours. SCUM could stand for the 'South Coast's Ultimate Mushes'...but then I guess it could also be used for our neighbours too... For the freaks on the toilet that is portsea island..."South Coast Urinal Mutants" Brighton..."South Coast Uphill Merchants"...or "South Coast Upsy-daisy Mincers" ...and not forgetting our new found "rivals" from Dorset..."South Coast Uppity Minnows"
  7. He had a fantastic view of both of our goals then. Nice.
  8. I left right on the final whistle, did they do the now customary 'losers lap of honour' at cup finals?
  9. I'm guessing 'Ossie' must have been in their corp box to have witnessed all this so well...hey, he may very well be bitter little Mr Mitchel himself...as for his kids witnessing it, well that is a shame but those kids were also witnessing their dad flicking the Vs and goading the opposition fans. Classy for a chairman. It's a bit like the skates who venture down the M27 to go shopping at West Quay and bring the kids in their little blue shirts knowing if anything was said they can give it the "they were picking on kids" line. Mitchell knew what was likely to happen, he either shouldn't have taken his kids or kept his big mouth shut. I'm also expecting to hear of their fans mugshots being plastered all over their local news as Hants OB do like to bring 'fence rattlers' to justice and with all the CCTV around, particularly in the concourses, they could have a field day.
  10. If he gets to choose I'm sure he'll want a box as near to the 'Bumfluff' fans as possible. That's handy for you Itchen North lads, do you think you could get a rousing chorus of... http://www.metacafe.com/watch/423523/godfather_theme_song_speak_softly_love/
  11. You need to look a little harder mate... ...and is it me or is something up with the site, didn't have to 'sign-in' to view the main board today?
  12. Just trying to work out what you're actually getting at there. I'd say just about everyone that's contributed to this thread who you want to "get a life" has said nothing different to what you've just done...just in fewer words! 99.9% don't class them as local rivals, 99.9% appear to also only put the blue few in that category. ?
  13. ...New Forest this seems to be a f'kin stupid way of describing a a football match between two teams that's only a 'derby' as were around 35 miles apart on the south coast. Does anyone from Southampton really feel any kind of dislike of the place? It's just a nice place to go to in the summer and somewhere our mum's/nan's were evacuated to in wartime. I can't help liking the place. (f'kin sausages for fingers)

  15. It was certainly an era that got me hooked...
  16. ...but, of course, would have got there twice as quickly if they'd employed Glenn Hoddle... HTH
  17. ...trying to save the FA's arse in readiness for when the lid comes off?
  18. Not that novel actually, they let in thousands of servicemen based in the area for nothing back in their 'golden era' of the 40s/50s, it was the only way they could boost their crowds (although they never filled fartton to capacity even back then)...not to mention the generous attendance of their neighbourly Saints fans who they liked in them days!
  19. St Mary's is dead from the waist down (cue the "that's my wife jokes") well from the halfway line to be precise. Now I understand not everyone wants to sing but it never fails to amaze me how many fans just sit on their hands and rarely open their mouths, we can be attacking the Chapel (of rest...stupid name, inhabitants take it far too literally) and...almost silence. No roar as we're piling forward, no putting the visitors under more pressure, defenders just get an easy ride at SMS. You can't really knock the Northam as it is the only area any significant vocal support comes from, I'd agree it's gone down hill...have you ever heard "We all follow South......etc" sung that fast? ...but if it wasn't for that (half a) stand... I think it'll improve as the season progresses as planned and don't forget, although Spurs fans are getting a lot of praise right now it wasn't so long ago WHL was a morgue. They even printed song sheets in the their official programme on one of our visits as no-one was making any noise (fartton was the same...until TCWTB and his boyfriend with the drum turned up...now going back that way by some accounts) but Spurs have now got one of the most atmospheric stadiums. Wake up SMS...and we need to develop a 'St Mary's Roar'.
