Nobody ever mentions it because your lot didn't exactly come out of it with flying colours, probably best forgotten. It was the first game of the New Year and many had been in town from first thing there was trouble down in the town and then afterwards your lot came across the park as we came out and quickly done an about turn! I maybe wrong but I'm almost sure your biggest attendance that season was against us, if I remember correctly loads of Spurs turned up without tickets when you played them and they're the ones that caused "the worst trouble ever seen in Brighton".

But to put it into perspective, a very successful Liverpool side of the time was still only averaging around 30k in a 40k+ stadium. That year they beat us to the title their lowest home gate was 20k but they fortunately had a number of big local derbies to swell their average. http://www.liverweb.org.uk/season.asp?season=198384 they also got 9k at Anfield that year in the League Cup. We're always gonna be at least 10k behind Liverpool in attendances on a level playing field so maybe not so bad and just sign of the times?

Well tbf Cardiff is in another country and Naarich is actually further north than Brum.

Hardly a geographical rivalry for Palace tho', they must have a dozen other teams within 10 miles of Selhurst, Brighton are only a rival to them because they were both top dogs in the third Division back in 1977ish and were battling each other to win that league. Their more obvious rivals are the skates, similar distance, both south coast with some fans living in each others faces. Chichester, Bognor, etc. probably should be Brighton as they're in Sussex but skates can be found living amongst them. Maybe the bluefew's hoolie reputation is a bit fierce for 'our friends' down the coast, you'd certainly think they'd be concentrating on the skates as they're playing them in the cup next week rather than worrying about us. I'll say this for 'em tho', they couldn't 'arf run fast back in the 70s/80s

Keep the suggestions coming...they'll never catch on! One of the better ones (suggested by a few) that never caught on... ...Viva Lallana ...can't beat a bit of bouncing...watch out at 1:18 when Le Tiss walks on... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtLxpMyh13g&feature=related ...and before he leaves us... "Na, na, na, na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, OXO..."

'tis strange the specification doesn't mention the OS but the product image shows the screen displaying 'Windows 7' and the customer reviews appear to confirm it does come with it installed. We've had an Acer laptop for a few years that has been caned by the kids and has been very reliable. Just recently had to replace the power adaptor.

Chamberlain to Arsenal or Liverpool £10m
alehouseboys replied to forever a red and white's topic in The Saints
Not up front anyway. But having said that, if Chelski seriously are in for him then I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Man City are on the scene offering silly money if only to snatch him away from Stamford Bridge. This could easily end up in a bidding war. -
Walsall Weather Watch / Build-up Thread - Game called off!
alehouseboys replied to Master Bates's topic in The Saints
That's 3 games oop country rearranged for long midweek treks...and likely to still be subject to weather in Jan/Feb. It's never easy following Saints. -
ESB, don't think ol' Mack's ignoring you, I've just driven over portsdown hill and saw him and corpy-ho-ho-ho putting the Chrimmy lights up on the family home...

The Daily Echo are gonna lurrrrrve this...

In the 1978 promotion year the last few games saw us taking 10,000+ away, gonna be a bit different this time. The last chance to see a reasonable number travel is gonna be Plymouth (3000+) and Orient (we always play there end of promotion seasons!) where we had 3,500 last season. Good time to get on their database now in anticipation of a successful final push to try and get home seats if needed.

Walking from North Greenwich Tube Station is probably about the same for away fans walking to SMS from Southampton Central. 1 to 1 1/2 miles...less to the first pub stop.

I'm sure Carpy-ho-ho-ho informed us it was only Saints fans that cared about them continually cheating so disgracefully? It not like her to be wrong but it does now appear others hold similar views what with the Brighton fans "cheating scum", "inbreds", etc. comments. Still it should be a friendly local rivalry as the seagulls did enjoy singing "play up p****y" so much recently.

And this is how it's done properly...

Not enough bouncing up-and-down at football these days... ...that'll keep ya warm.
-
I'm assuming they're all rioting in protest down on the island tonight then? I'm constantly hearing their fans say "you can stick the Premier League"..."prefer it in the Championship". They can't be happy BC's gambling their club's future trying to get them to somewhere the blue few don't want to be?

I’d love to see these two get going. The 'Viva Lallana' is a great chant that once it starts is one that you can just keep on going. Make a change from the usual 100mph, over-in-a-minute crap that we usually get.

Exactly. The Police actions that day, whether it was intentional or not (and I know what I think), set up an immediate confrontation that afternoon when it was obvious emotions were still running at high octane levels. And Dune, when they kept us in for an hour at fartton and then let us make our way to the trains, coaches and cars I can't remember hearing about too many suffering serious injuries...well none at all actually. This also goes for previous games at St Mary's when they did keep away fans back...if it aint broke...

TBF he was very good for us at the start...

"Na, na, na, na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, OXO" Hey Jude...always sounded good when we did it for Theo.

We're all different, some that are more animated during the 90mins (usually admired for their passionate support by many) may take a little longer to calm down than others (particularly after losing to a bunch of cheats in the local derby) and display similar tendancies outside the ground they were in minutes before inside. And the whole reason for these threads is that fans weren't getting (or the prospect of) prison sentences for real acts of "Affray and Violent disorder" but for some, as proved, no more than shaking a fence. Kraken, I can only say it from my view point. I can't understand if someone inside the stadium is frothing at the mouth one minute (as was the case with a lot of people I saw that day in the Kingsland) are gonna instantly change the second they step outside. I'm not saying that's right or wrong just that same feeling outside may have seen some banged up and others, (who may have contributed to this thread) who didn't end up in that situation, berating the ones that did. Differences of opinions I guess.
