  1. They've likely reasoned that it's obvious and everyone will be aware. 3 clubs have maximum parachute payments in the bank and it's clear we're selling some valuable assets to bolster that. probably better to make a statement to a disgruntled fanbase and attempt to get them back on side and buying season tickets.
  2. Edit: somebody had already linked the DE Encouraging...for now!
  3. *only 7 times. Lightweight.
  4. Nice omen, didn't we sign Rickie Lambert from a League One Bristol Rovers?
  5. Not necessarily true of course, but… https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-transfer-ward-prowse-bridges-26981827.amp Wherever he goes he will go down as a great servant to SFC and wish him well. Only 3 good things off of portsea island: 1: JWP 2: Bobby Stokes 3: The M275
  6. These things matter in the third division.
  7. Anyone who fancies having a catch-up with Romeu there's Celta Vigo v Girona currently on viaplay xtra (Virgin Channel 553) Romeu just stuck one past Gazzaniga!
  8. Of course only a benefit for those renewing next season when you’ll get a credit, if not better to let it just sit empty rather than allow the club to sell it on to some scouser
  9. I will never tire of watching this...
  10. I can’t see this being the appointment that’s going to help boost season ticket sales at a time a big statement was required for a disillusioned fan base.
  11. Wankers the lot of 'em...although Ras-mess does invite it...harrumph
  12. Yeah, we could have another go with the 76-77 kit but with a bit of updating. Maybe the long awaited return to blue shorts and with a slight tweak to the badge
  13. I was still in nappies so couldn’t make it…but know a few who did. 25,000 Saints may be a bit of an underestimate, many didn’t arrive until halftime and others probably didn’t make it at all. It was the 70s before I started going regularly but I still got to see Painey!.
  14. Are the MIGs still a thing?
  15. Vieira woah, Vieira woah, he comes from Senegal, he fucking hates pom.....ah.....he's gonna play Tall Paul, Vieira woah, Vieira woah.........
  16. I'm beginning to think Fabrice29 and CB Fry are 2 'characters' of the same poster just enjoying the argument and 'putting everyone right' all the time.
  17. JWP would be at his best without the captain's armband (and playing further forward), he's an ideal ambassador for this club but I've never felt he's captain material. But I certainly wouldn't burden Alcaraz with it, too young and South American passion certainly wouldn't be enough to gain the respect he'd need. Agree with the bit in bold though. A deeper-voiced Alan Ball-type wouldn't go amiss!
  18. A potted history of our demise (but nothing that most probably didn't already know) https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11700/12850921/southampton-once-the-pride-of-the-south-coast-what-has-gone-so-badly-wrong-at-championship-bound-saints
  19. You'd fookin' think so but....
  20. As usual the TV cameras will be searching out any blubbing faces when the deed is done, hopefully our more sensitive types don't oblige.
  21. "massive pisstake", "massive fuck up" or "massive goodbye Premier League day" would of course have been more appropriate but the OP went for humour instead.
  22. Unlike us, Forest fans will be still believing they can stay up, I think the support they’ll get Monday night will be loud and intense. Our gutless wonders will likely just melt. We’ll have just shy of 3,000 up there (around 100 tickets left) but I don’t think they’ll make much of a dent on the atmosphere unfortunately watching another lacklustre performance from us.
  23. Would be sweet if he gets to do it Monday night in front of the travelling Saints fans (anyone up there deserves a medal imo) and the TV cameras.
  24. Admire anyone travelling up for this, we took the max 2,955 tickets and had sold around 2,800 a few days ago, so may even still sell-out. No doubt some will sack it off now but everyone there deserves a performance. We're done but Forest have everything to go for so the place will be rocking, memories of the Dell in those circumstances is so far removed from St Mary's these days. Shame.
