  1. Perhaps he wrote it when he was out. realistically the only way to get rid of him soon is for constituents in Tory seats to write to their local MP.
  2. James for me is the best allrounder. I really like everything about his game. TAA, Walker, Trippier and KWP are all good enough for England. It's definitely a position of depth and I feel sorry for KWP (and potentially Tino) in relation to getting international caps.
  3. Different thread, same old shit
  4. Only an anagram
  5. Don’t think it’s about a shift in attitudes on the topic. More like matts fans base on twitter shifting from saints/footie fans to fellow conspiracy theorists. As someone said, birds of a feather.
  6. This is so ironic it's post ironic
  7. Leaving aside his actually play, which gave me more pleasure than any other footballer, one of the things I loved about him when he was with us was his beliefs. He believed he could stay with us and still have a great career, he believed he could stay with us and play for England. He believed that loyalty to the club that developed meant staying and not going for more money or glory. He believed there was more to football than the next contract and trophies. These beliefs made me proud to be associated with him. In my opinion, and it's only an opinion, the current beliefs make him look like a complete bell end and I am embarrassed to be associated with him (via my club allegiance). Those of you who believe what he believes will just carry on; and I'll carry on regarding you as bell ends as well. And those of you who believe what he is doing harmless and well within his rights are, in my opinion, naive bell ends. The mystery to me, as some have said, is I've met him a few times and he seems such a regular, down to earth chap. And I do think this is something we should discuss on a Saints Fans forum. Matt has/had legendary status for us; arguably our most famous player. What he says carries an impact.
  8. This He's allowed his opinion just as you are. And I'm allowed the opinion that it makes you both look like cunts
  9. I'm no expert, but it's all contained in the stuff I suggested you read. I think it's about direction of travel. If you look at the graphs on energy production we will have sufficient production capability at some point in the future, the only question being about how much we have to rely on nuclear to bridge the gap between fossil fuel and renewables.
  10. Project Drawdown is a good source of up to date scientific data on this. There's plenty of evidence there that things are not as hopeless as you suggest. Off-shore wind in particular is showing good signs. Onshore wind and solar also look hopeful. I've moved house since, my old system had no storage so it all went back in the grid. I've been doing some research with a view to getting solar again (and a ground source heat pump) and I was surprised how far the battery technology had moved on. I'm not as pessimistic as you. I agree the current system, based on competition more than collaboration, is not ideally suited to solving the problem. But the current system is what we have and there is enough technological development being scaled up to offer some hope. Granted it might all be too late, but I don't see the point in thinking like that as it just causes paralysis (and misery).
  11. That doesn't seem right. Is that your view @OldNickor quoted from a source? (In which case can you name the source?). Battery storage for recyclables has come a long way since I first got solar so I'd be surprised if what you are saying is true.
  12. You've missed the best part. Leicester 0 Chelsea 9. I watched that game. The Chelsea team are seriously impressive, as is their manager who I think could probably manage in the men's game if she felt like it.
  13. Agree with this, although thought he was over-hyped a few season back when he was in the England side. If his attitude is right he'd fit in well with us. Harsh. Like most Spurs players he's floundered recently but he's not awful by any stretch
  14. I've only been to Elland Road once. We won 3-0. Same again please. It's important the season doesn't just fizzle out. As for the team I'd give AA another go with Che. And possibly Tella or Redmond in for Moi. Stephens over Bednarek still. And KWP and Perraud at full back. The rest picks itself.
  15. As is Bruce Grobbelaar unless he put a few quid on the outcome
  16. I'm not good at knowing who should come in, but my view on our priorities are as follows. 1. Goalkeeping no doubt. Personally I'd change them all out and go fresh with a starter and a back up. I'm hoping it's not true AM has signed a new contract; if he has then he's the back up. Fraser is having a good spell, but our first choice keeper needs to be younger, more agile and better with his feet. 2. Strikers. 2 possibly, assuming Broja goes. Much as I love Shane, he's not the future and needs to go. I'd like AA to have a run to determine if he is good enough to start next year or continue as 3rd choice. If he is then an exciting youngster I've never heard of. If he's not then a more established striker (again probably that I've never heard of). 3. Number 10s. We need to make decisions on Moussa and Moi, and possibly Redmond (and I'd like to see Theo gone if that's possible). We have plenty of bodies in this position but not sure if we have enough quality. So I'd be swapping out 1, 2 or 3 of our current crop in an attempt to upgrade. Defensively I think we are covered at FB. Central defence is one where I'd actually settle for what we have or do a Vestergaard sale for Bednarek and bring in a maturer figure. I'm hoping Lyanco and Simeu come through. Obviously if Salisu goes this summer there is a rather large hole to fill. The only person we don't have like for like cover for is Oriol. It's not an easy hole to fill. I think JWP could play there, and might end up there in a couple of years. So perhaps a youngster pinched from somewhere would be good? The conundrum for me is Nathan Tella. I really like him, I guess as a 10, but Ralph can't seem to decide where to play him (and so doesn't)
  17. Agree with this, assuming Broja won't be with us next season. I'm hoping there's work going on already in the background with Broja, his agent and Chelsea to determine whether he is likely to be with us next year. If he's not, or it's unlikely at least, I'd start Armstrong and Adams for every pretty much game from now on. Our priority has to be to trying and get AA firing and to help him and Che develop a partnership. This will help us know what nature of player we will need to replace Broja - i.e. a starter or a squad member.
  18. Good luck with that idea
  19. Would it help the warring tribes if we apportion blame on the basis of years in power? Of the 42 years since the Revolution I think the tories have been in power 29 and Labour 13. So 69% Tory fault and 31% labour.
  20. That's an out of date view in my opinion. I think we've toughened up a lot recently mentally and I'm expecting a reaction tonight. I think the thing about our style is that when it's not working for us we look vulnerable - we've had 3 defeats this season where it just hasn't worked at all (Liverpool, Arsenal, Villa), all with very similar results. Everything else has been either excellent, good, or at least ok in spells.
  21. Not sure they were training apart. Moi was definitely training with the others at the end. First time I've seen one of these for quite a while. How long have they been wearing the figure hugging pyjama suits to train? Not the best look I've seen.
  22. Wembley stadium, having just watched us lift the FA Cup by beating Liverpool 4-0
  23. Racism isn't just about skin colour, just ask the Irish.
  24. WUM #1 WUM #2
  25. I think Puel was unlucky to be following Poch and Ronald. His achievements were pale by comparison. And I agree that, with the benefit of hindsight, he would almost certainly have done better than Pellegrino the following year. This debate crops up every now and then and consequently I feel more positive about him now as a result of the advocacy of @Turkishand others. But I have to say my memory is more like that of @Whitey Grandad in that I was thoroughly bored by a lot of the football at St. Mary's and the general vibe about the place. Back on topic, it's a real stretch but if we keep this momentum up for the whole of the rest of the season (a big if) and if 2-3 out of Wolves, Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham falter (a medium sized if) then I think we could actually get to 6th. It's unlikely but certainly a prize worth chasing and keeping the players from putting up the deckchairs.
