  1. Translated for a local Torino rag…. The grenade leadership, these days, rains criticism, heavy and in rapid succession. The blows that exalt the crowd disappear; Sirigu and Nkoulou, for the overwhelming majority of the fans, were not replaced properly; we would limit ourselves, reasonably to widespread opinion, to collect the scraps of the other clubs, sometimes not even the big ones. However, when an operation, albeit outgoing, goes beyond the rosiest expectations, it should be emphasized. It would in fact be absurd, or at least not very prudent, to contest the circumstances of the sale of Lyanco at the top of the Toro house. Assuming that what seems to be certain news turns out to be effective, the seven million euros that Southampton is ready to pay into the coffers of via Arcivescovado for the 24-year-old Serbo-Brazilian, bought by Toro in the summer of 2017, from San Paolo, for the same amount, they are a remarkable treasure, in times of proverbial lean cows like the present ones. Remarkable especially considering the almost always disappointing performance, alas, of the central defender born in 1997, except for some flashes here and there, seen above all during his stay on loan at Bologna, at the court of that Sinisa Mihajlovic who had wanted him in Turin four years ago, along the second half of 2018/19. The chances to prove up to Lyanco were not lacking. Three-man defense, four-man defense, from central more like an old free, free (no pun intended) to set up and climb - ball and chain or not, - as a scorer with license to disengage and work in synergy with midfielders and external. Many, too many amnesia, and an efficacy on the offensive front too occasional to be able to act as a worthy counterpart. Seven million for the player seen over the last four years, objectively, is a very fat figure. And, if indeed the operation will be of this magnitude, the great management, at least in this case, will undoubtedly be worthy of praise. I hope he proves them all wrong and in a season or two he is worth £25 million.
  2. Had a brief look and can’t see prices or where to sign up. Just cancelled my sky sports subscription after the Lions tour so would like something for the new season.
  3. Remain for both.
  4. I still don’t blame Ralph. The players are simply not good enough.
  5. I am now at the stage that I couldn’t care less. Moved to Southampton because I supported them, had a season ticket for many years but don’t get to go anymore. Living in the West Country, I’m now more of a Chief than a Saint. Better game, better fans, better atmosphere. Sad but football is no longer the game I grew up loving. It’s now just money and mercenaries, and a bit of racism too.
  6. And what about all the other transfer news he has got right? He got this one right and you moan. Don’t let jealousy eat you up.
  7. He has got a lot of things right prior to it being on sky or other sites. He is not a Saints specialist ITK, mentions a lot of clubs from across the leagues. If folk don’t believe him, it’s up to them, don’t see the need to slate him though. Just look away and dont read his tweets. It really is that simple.
  8. He clearly doesn’t fit into the style of Ralph’s team plan which will be based on pace, pace and more pace. Something Charlie is sadly lacking. Scored some good goals and wish him well.
  9. Not too bad really. No runs of really tough games where you think where is the next point coming from!

  11. As thread title. No great surprises after the recent form particularly at home.
  12. The best half of Saints football for several seasons. The pressing, the passion, the commitment, it’s all there to see. Let’s not forget that we are playing this his style of football based on a Hughes team level of fitness so it may drop towards the end. Just great to see a manager who seems to care as much as the fans. Whatever happens, things are looking brighter.
  13. Always thought Andrei Pereplyotkin “Shevvy” could have achieved more if he had got a work permit while in the academy.
  14. Our midfield is picking up their strikers and our forwards at dropping to pick up their midfield. At the back we have our three CB marking Giroud! No offensive ambition whatsoever.
  15. Pretty uninspiring stuff. Hughes is a dinosaur.
  16. Very poor second half. We are gonna be in trouble in a few months. Not convinced by Hughes still and anything he is trying to do. Poor substitutions, poor game management, poor manager in charge of average squad. Highlight was Hojberg, the player we’ve been waiting for him to become is now here.
  17. If you bought a tatty old Datsun for over the odds, while someone is taking it for a test drive you don’t tell the world it’s rubbish!
  18. I’m not convinced that he is any great loss really. I feel he has always flattered to deceive and not achieved what he could have. To get anything around £15 million for him is good business in my book.
  19. I didn’t think that was too bad considering the enormity of the match. My main concern is Hoedt has got a mistake in him but backing Carillonto come on and grab a last minute goal to either win or equalise.
  20. He had a Champions league winner medal before joining us!
  21. Forget about the manager and tactics, etc. The simple problem is that we don’t take our chances. Since Lambert and Pellegrino we have had nobody who can find the back of the net. If we had a decent striker we would be top half!
  22. In my younger and more immature days I used to ttake great pleasure in arguing with rugby friends about how rubbish rugby was. However, now I am a convert and love the game. Given a choice between watching England rugby match or an England football match, I’d pick rugby every time. Saints still just edge it over Exerter Chiefs though.
  23. We must have got a new manager lined up, maybe Tuchel will be tempted with money to spend. Surely they can’t trust MP with the cash. They wouldn’t at the start of the season so they can’t let him have it now.
  24. I've not watched a game live for a while due to work commitments but if this is an improvement I shudder at want went before. Admittedly only one team are trying to score through open play but even so, a little urgency and creativity would be nice.
