  1. In May and June, we thought there could be a massive fall out from Spygate. Would the players want to stay? Would they seek legal action to cancel contracts and such like. Many couldn’t envisage keeping much of this squad together. Then we get the positive news that Peretz and Larin were signing, Bree a new contract, all the team were still together, gonna stick it up ‘em. I think we all got so carried away with this “us against the world” attitude many people forgot that THB and Shea Charles had only two years left on their contracts. Both have been offered Premier League football and it’s not a surprise if they are both to leave. The key now is what we do to replace. For every Peretz there is a Bazunu and for every Larin, a Downs. It’s not time to press the panic button just yet.
  2. I think I’m ok with THB going if we get the right money for him, especially as he’s into the last two years of his contract. He was poor for the first part of the season and although he was much better with Tonda at the helm, there was still quite a few mistakes in there. Not seen enough of this Anel chap to say if he’s a good enough replacement but a few less speculative lobbed through balls would be fine with me. In conclusion, happy whichever way this ends.
  3. I do wonder if Stewart was the player who allegedly kicked off once we were kicked out the final. That was his chance to get the year extension and get to play in the Prem, to show he could cut it at that level and prove himself. Also, with fewer games and arguably a less physical demanding league, proven that he could have coped in the Prem. Would have set him up nicely to get that one last big contract. Instead he’s off to Swansea.
  4. Like the look of Dobbin. Always looking to attack, little give and go’s, bursting forward.
  5. No idea if this is a legit source or not.
  6. It’ll be Middlesbrough away first game.
  7. You can’t sack a player because they are injured and you can’t just stop their rehabilitation.
  8. He’s our employee. We bought him while injured. You can’t sack a footballer because they are injured. He owes us nothing and is perfectly entitled to look for a final bumper deal as he enters his thirties. I hope he stays but understand if he chooses not to. If we wanted him that badly we should have activated the clause earlier.
  9. We bought him, that’s on us. He is thirty this summer, has probably one last decent contract left. I wouldn’t blame him for looking elsewhere. Hope he stays though.
  10. I can understand the logic of Ross Stewart. He is thirty over the summer and will have one last chance of a decent deal. If we had taken up the one year option he could have been out on his ear, possibly injured, at thirty one. Yes, we have helped him through his recovery but he did get injured playing for us so that’s our job. We expect loyalty yet it seems that it has to be on our terms. I hope he stays but wouldn’t blame him if he chose to get a good final pay day elsewhere.
  11. Let’s keep politics off the main football site please. I get frustrated enough seeing gullible folk on twitter harping on about “stop the boats”, no need for it to seep into this forum.
  12. Could we not just sell one or two players for a tidy sum and then just say to the rest, “stay for the season, take us up and share this £50 million between you”?
  13. I can’t see who stays or more realistically who wants to stay. Stephens will hang around as a club man, Bragg as he’s getting game time, and then who? Quarshie, Archer, Edozie? The players have given a lot for this campaign, especially towards the end of the season, sacrificing days off and family time. And for what? They will all be looking to get out and not sure how we could stop them after this. Yes, they’re contracted but we all know that means very little if a player wants out. I think I’m done with it for a while. Just a bit fed up with football. I’ve not watched international games for many years now, and stopped watching MOTD or caring about the Prem once we went down. A bit sick of it all now, especially Saints.
  14. If we won the first case we would have had to win the EFL appeal. This way we bring in the Big Dog for the “winner takes all” final, no more appeals allowed. Wonder if this is why we agreed to that deal. 🤞
  15. I can see why they got Lord Pannick in for the appeal. If he had won the first case, EFL could have appealed. Both sides have agreed that the result tonight is final so this is the one you have to win, not the first one. Get the Big Dog in for the winner takes all final.
