It is messy... sae as always, I am just shocked that its taken me so long to recognise the last vestiges of sanity remain in Bearsy's threads and the PTS.. nutjobs one and all, but far more agreeable
-
Indeed Bearsy, you and Mother Teresa share a comon bond... although Bonding with Mother T in the context of 50 shades is perhaps not something i want embedded in my mind going forward..

But what will modern dictators do, as I suspect Ipads and kindles wont burn as well as books?...and if the content is in the cloud anyway... I will need to give this some serious thought before publishing the next edition of The International Jounal of Modern Dictatorship... now available for Ibooks and Kindle

How dare yo post something sensible on here - dont you know all our heads are meant to be exploding in a fit pof panic, rage and unhealthy obsession?

Well there are a lot of Inner Goddesses back on the main board now... just like when Rupert 'Christian' Lowe was sticking curtain polls up fan's arses so this thread has now become a refuge to keep the sane sane - its taken on a new function and responsibilty Bearsy, elevated from a mere intellectual literery critique to one of the most important threads on the Forum - certainly one in which there is more truth and sense than in the rest of the board combined... please bring on chapter 13, depite your obvious dislike of the prose, its still contains more depth and insight and realism than anything written on the main board. Despite Ms Steeles converstaion, inner witterings and submissiveness, she still makes more sense than the bed wetting inner goddesses you find there.

OK it may be true and therefore a mistake in the planning - but what do we do? Do we panic and get all negative or do we try and work through i and see what January can bring? I am not saying its wrong to try an danalyse all this, but the negative focus does no one any good really - we wont suddenly find ourselves world class defenders by pointing out we dont have any, and getting on NC and NIges back about it - we deal with it as best we can and try and support those players doing their best?
-
That is speculation... Squad will alwyas be happy and together when we are winning each week... but when things go badly as now, there wll always be differences of opinion on what needs to be done about it - the 'falling out' is normal and natural, and not a problem - the key is how a manager copes with it and man manages the situation - this is a big test for Adkins and one which will stretch his experience and current abilities, ultimately one he will learn from... but thats the whole point. Most agree he has teh ability to become a first class top flight manager - but that needs time and experience, as well as luck. We have shown we can play at this level for 50-60 mins in every game, but need to find the formula for ensuring we can maintain that level for 90+ especially as defensive frailties still need addressing. NO one is denying that we have issues that need address... but there is big variation in how fans are responding to it. For years we have said stability is the key... yet are the first to moan and whinge when we think a manager is not up to the task - Adkins will be, eventually, so you have to ask yourself whether you are prepared to stick with it no matter what and ensure we build experience and stabilty (which is my preferred appraoach), or go with the majority of prem chairman and hire and fire in panic mode...

fair enough, but i still think that if it was as easy as making a plan, updating it as we progressed, everyone would be doing it - there is the 'magic ingredient' that is missing and we all have our own opinion on what this is - understanding it and then making it happen is another matter. We assume that because we dont have quality in certain areas, that nothing was done to try and sort this, as opposed to just not being able to close deals for the players we wanted for many reasons etc. The points made by all on this are all valid, but too often reactionary and not placed into a balanced context, which leads to speculation - and worse plays into the hands of those who seem happiest when there is something they can find fault in, especially when laying it at teh chairmans door...
-
We can argue tactic, selection, substitutions all we like - all art of being a fan - but the upshot is IMHO, we have been punsihed simply because we dont seem able to maintain concentration for 94 minutes and focus consistently on what needs to be done. Blaming individuals is not helpful - its not their fault that their skill and quality is at best adequate for this level - and poor when not concentrating, but we do need to work on that mental strength - I think part of the problem is that in the CCC, those lapses which have always been there, were often never exploited - here against better and more organised attacking players, that lack of concentration leaves us woefully exposed and most often punished... and we have not really learned/adapted quickly enough.

Learn Japanese with Tokyos and Hanna Minx
Frank's cousin replied to Tokyo-Saint's topic in The Muppet Show
I must admit Hannah seems just the sort of 'teacher' I would have fixated on as a younger man - she has a certain quality that I just cant put my finger on, that is appealing. As younger man, her nutjob personna would have been enticing... I am slightly concerned that now a as mature individual I find she maintains that appeal.. I suspect its her ability with this difficult langugae that demonstrates her superior mind despite the 'clowning around' that is doing it for me. I need to lie down -
Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
Frank's cousin replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I am sure there are some amazing people in this world who have the drive, ambition, single bloody mindedness and ability to deliver the kind of success in business, yet remain at all times approachable, considerate, easy to work with and are Jolly nice people - I also believe they are like hens teeth and in Markus we probably had exactly that, as all publically available report suggest he was a man of the highest integrity, ethics and morals. Sadly, he passsed away and NC was left to fulfil Markus's ambitions as best he could. So far in terms of where the club has gone, we can not argue that that success has been prtty amazing. But its also clear that whilst NC is obviously extremely capable in the areas necesssary to drive forward the on the field ambitions, he is perhaps like alll of us, a little flawed in other areas - very few of us are perfect ;-) Markus and NC made a great team - NC with a young mans drive and Markus with the steady more human touch - but we should not forget teh trust and friendship that there was between Markus and NC and if a man of such integrity as markus shows that kind of faith in someone and becomes thier close friend, then I am more inclined to believe that Markus saw more than just someone who was good at driving a business, but also a pretty decdent human being. So why do the rumours, gossip etc contradict the faith and friendship shown in NC by Markus? Surely you dont get to be as successful as Markus was by not being a good judge of character? I suspect that NC IS far more difficult to work with than most in football expected - he brings a different attitude and perspective to the club that was never going to sit well with all, especially without the balance provided by Markus. There is also the element that NC misses his mentors guiding hand and his friendship. Matty has a personal gripe - so be it, but why bring it up at every oportunity without saying what its about? I suspect that the reason is as others have alluded to in that its about that whole Pinnacle fiasco and it probably embarrases matty a bit to be reminded of it. I dont think it should be an issue as his heart was in the right place, but when viewed from abusiness perspective, it was hardly his greatest moment given he did sod all due diligence etc... As for the rest on Turkish's list, those seem pretty consistent to me to man who is driven, ambitious and wont let anything distract him from the way he wants to do things, and I doubt he would be any different if Markus were still alive, but he may have had his hand steadied by his wiser friend. Do thos ethings make him 'not a very nice man'? - NO they make him a difficult man to do business with or to work with, and I find it a bit sad that too many on here cant seem to make that distinction and are only too willing to judge someone purely on the comments made by some who have worked or work for him. I would probably hate working for him, but that does not make him a bad person, or ' not very nice'... Some of you need to be more honest say why you 'donbt like him' and as always I doubt those reasons are because you you have met him, got to know him and been able to judge his character... -
Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
Frank's cousin replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Fair Points Duncan. I Guess I am just suprized at a couple of things really - the first is why on earth Matty would be worried that he had been duped over pinnicle - could have happened to anyone, given that there was hardly time to do due diligence etc.. Think if this has anything to do with it, then Matty needs to stop letting his ego be concerned about it - no one is thinks any less of him because of it... and yeah with hindsight and all that... I agree some folk just dont get on and that's life, but right now there is only one of the parties making this public knowledge and therefore without anything concrete it just looks a bit silly. Also given how are we have come as a club, its also in most fans mindset to want to think the best of NC - with a few obvious exceptions - Its always far better to think of peoplw in a positive way.. -
Training Ground Development - "temporarily suspended"
Frank's cousin replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I dont think you are alone in that... and to be honest, I am not suggesting that when negative rumours appear, we ignore them and bury heads in sand or walk about covering our ears saying 'i'm not listening' - just that there needs to be a more appropriate sense of perspective - eg evne a dispute with contractors (if that were the reason) is not ncessarily a BAD thing - it happens all the time... but I suspect we have some posters only too happy to use these stories to reinforce tehir own paranoia, suspicons and general dislike for Cortese so it serves one purpose anyway... -

I herad it was stopped whilst he consulted you on whether the investment and development was big enough for our future ambitions. -
Training Ground Development - "temporarily suspended"
Frank's cousin replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I have absolutely no idea why the work stopped - and I have absolutely no idea if any of those who claim they do, have any idea either - or how much is BS speculation, rumour etc. But the thing I would like to know is why whenever we hear such 'stories' - when it comes to speculation its always negative? Why is it that the assumption is that something is 'going on' or that there is a major problem? Could it not just as easily be a positive reason? Could the club be changing the specs to further improve the design? Could there be a more simple and less 'dramaqueenbedwettingesque' reason? Just amazes me that 'happyclappy' (or a positive attitude) is considered negative, yet 'doomandgloomcortesefeckedupandisadisaster' is the 'positive' way to be... -
Looked to me like you knew 'DP' intimately enough to assess whether he was too large for a small cellar....

Just before Christmas and all.... there has been plenty of time for the wives and sisters of Portsmouth to weardown their menfolk and highlight teh stupity of sinking £1000 into a football club...

Watcked the Micks get steamrollered by the Germans instead - as Thought England v San Mariono would be dull and predictable and someone needs to tell Wellbeck that his hairstyle went out with the Fresh Prince of Bellair... Not sure what Trappatoni is doing, but surprized the Irish had not spirit or fight they are are usually regarded for... just sort of rolled over in th end - yes the Germans scored some nice goals, but were made to look better than theye were. England - seem to habitually make hard work of things... and the curent crop of players are so difficlt to like or have any affinity with - probably because we cant see players who have obviously work and grafted to get where they are and the younger players all that that slight 'attitude' that make you think they take it for granted... maybe all just perception, but Butcher, Lineker, Shearer, Robson etc they gave the impression that is was a privilage, and teh pinnicle to play for your country... Including someone like Lambert would change that for me, not beacuse he is a saint, but because hes the sort of down to earth, grafter who has paid his dues that most fans love to see get their moment.

Where's the thread to abuse Charles Green ?
Frank's cousin replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
I dove love a good 'my club is bigger than your's' **** waving contest - demonstrates all the crappy egocentric shiedt that football is full of... surely a better comparison is simply 'my club is 'better' than yours which the league position usually validates if ego massage is your thing - no one ever agrees on what criteria makes a big club.... feck Blackpool and Bolton would be bigger than most if don on certain criteria... Celtic and Rangers undoudtely have a huge following - not in part because many form outside Glasgow are old firm fans - rather than supporting their local crappy sides - and all the plastic paddies in New York and other places who are Celtic fans, or ex pat scots around the globe hand on to their roots etc... but they have been big fish in a small pond for a long time, so trophy count is perhaps not something that can be fairly applied in a two horse race for 100 years... Would they benefit from more revenue as part of a EU or even the prem? of course they would, but then again look at the 100ml advantage that Rangers had and it still meant they did feck all in Europe... I think Geen is also missing the point somewhat - this is Sport/football and in every country you have the better richer clubs and the smaller less well off clubs - the richer clubs can afford to buy expensive talent and the less well off need to try and unearth undiscovered Gems or nuture their own to try and become more competitive - and in seeing these match up and the odd shock results is what its all about - creating a super league, closed to a the rich few, or those with 'big' fanbases may create a short term TV glut fest, but long term do you think Rangers would be in the top 10? or regularly at the Bottom... how long would fan interest remain in such a 'constructed' artificial league? Man U subsidising Southampton? The guy is clueless - the TV revenues from Sky are given the the prem as a whole... without 19 other clubs who would Man U play? They already get substantially more from that deal than most others through higher Live games and more for finishing higher up... he seems to think that creating an even bigger divide between the top 2 or 3 and the rest is a good thing and shows his ignorance of what the real fan wants.... sadly though, he is probably right when it comes to the airmchair global TV audience... and as we already know, they are all that SKY and the prem seem interested in. -
aye I see that, but that assumes that chinneys scured status is watertight and not an investment thatw ent wrong considering its only secured against fratton ? and the football creditors in the queue on liquidation.. Just cant help feeling teh creditors would end up with more with a liquidation now than they ever get with chinney... and surely thats what Birch should be deciding?

...if it goes to court - its in the public domain - as this is amtter of public record - and you comply it went to court cases - non -diclosure agreements only apply to the content of any dispute or settlement, noyt the fact that a dispute took place - especially if it ends up in 'court' so wherever this came from its BS -
Can someone who knows about these things explain in laymans terms the following? As I understand it the job of teh administrator is to ensure he gets the BEST deal for the CREDITORS... Where a company ahs little chance of generating major revenues as an ongoing concern, and has reasonable assets this would probably mean liquidation and disperal of the funds raised to creditors.... Or where there is the posibilty of the company being sold as goiung concern whereby the creditors accept a reduced payment of what they are owed, usually through a CVA... but this situation tends to be the one in which they get nothing if the company is liquidated, so a small amount is better than nothing.... .... but we have situation ...perhaps unique, where by the parachute payments receive last month or so, meant that the company assests were greater than the proposed CVA amount of £500,000. And as football creditors are lumped in with the others on liquidation, was not teh best deal for non-footballing creditors, liquidation? OK so its complicated further by the various amounts considered to be owed to Chinney, and the fact that another 8mil of parachutes is also available by August next year - which would be lost on liquidation... ... but can someone explain how either the chinney or PST bids offer better value to creditors than liquidation with cash in the bank? What am I missing?

Gentlemen, please rest assured, Sir Bletch and I were merely distracted for a short moment by the hint of some real world 50 shades over in Italy, but do not let this distract you form the task at hand - we need to know how this pans out for the sake of mankind. I can assure you, we are both fine upstanding gentlemen whose only interest in this torrid saga maquarading as 'literature' is to understand how populist culture can elevate the mundane to such highs and reward the meritless with commercial success, if critical distain... Bearsy you work is vital in contributing to such intellectual understanding. I am sure you will mange to keep a tight grip on what is important.
