Newcastle 4-2 Southampton // Post-Match Reaction

Yes to some extent - IMHO a 4231 pressing game does expose you to pacy wingers and over the top balls, which is why you need high fitnes and good covering from the wide players - and for their first goal this was a problem.... for the others, a brilliant goal, and unlucky ricochet and a givable but unlucky penalty.... but always a risk involved with the system, and Pards had the players to try and exploit it -On another day though we could have come away witha 3-1... without any change in the stats or way we played - so difficult to judge fairly as to whether the system is the problem... ... does not excuse the defending errors though. -

Disagree, looked natural from a balance perspective - and he did not move his arm at all, and unlikley to have time to get it out the way.... but we wuld have expected a pen had it happened to us And the 4th was just unlucky - one of those things My take home as I sat in the car headiung NOrth was our goals were excellntly taken moves - and but for rustiness we could have had a couple more - so not playing well or at our best, we should still have had a point IMHO - cant blame the lads for that. Yes they got at us after 15 minutes and dominated the rest of that first half as we struggled a litle to cope with their counter pressing, but after half time we seemed to have adjusted a little and had the momentim at 2-2 following an excellent move and fine 100th finish by SRL. But although dissapointed with the result, the performance was not bad - not as good as previous games but not a sbad either. I though Shaw had a slight knock as well as being cought out a little... things to work on, not teh best day in the office, but neither the worst. -

Just got back from the Match... some of you must have been watching a different game on the stream.. we were OK and excellent for our goals - far better when we actually went at them at pace. However, dont think these breaks help us - we need continuity as we looked rusty again, passing not quite clicking as it did in all games recently, in part as after the first 10, pards got his side to press us and we lost our shape a bit, how we manage that when pressed is something to work on. St James' never a happy hunting ground for us, but on another day Cisse is off side or hits row Z and Rickies freekick flies in and the ball ricochets off Jos for a corner... They had us under pressure at times as you wpuld expect form a home side, and Shaw going off for a knock weakened us a a threat going forward, but all in all we aint gone backwards, just lost a bit of edge through sitting it out for 15 days IMHO. As for the comment above from Skatejoe If you want to make inane and totally feckwit comments, try this one: in the corresponding fictures to the 5 games under MP, Adkins managed 3 points, against a poor Newcastle. MP has 5 to date... pointless argument, pointless comment and as about insightful as your 'epic'.... IF we go down, they will BOTH be to blame, just as if we stay up, they will BOTH deserve credit... -
Think we do need to be a bit careful - they have pace with sissoko and the other frenchies up front, ball over the top when we are pressing could be dangerous.
-
Apparently they are having a 'French day' all Red, White and Blue.... all 'Le Toon' My father In-law is a Geordie and Toon fan - and he sent me nice copy of tehir club mail describing all the fun to be had... We in yellow or red?
-
We will finish below all teams with more points and better goal difference than us and above those with less points and worse goal difference - you heard it here first

One thing I dont understand correctly is (and I welcome a legal brain to describe it in laymans terms) The actual urpose of the the court case - am I right in thinking its NOT necessarily about a value on Fratton park, but is actually a bout whether the administrator is entitled to sell FP as part of the sale of the club despite there being a charge against it? As I understand it, its the administrator that is trying to push a YES on this so that he can accomodate the sale to the PST within the budget they have - approx 3mil and that given Chinney has a secure charge over FP, he is therefore entitled to all monies raised form its sale aheda of this cash being split to unsecured creditors? Chinney is naturally wanting to block this as he believes he will get more back from FP f a) its sold to another biddder, or b) he retains ownership and rents the gorund back. Now a logical question to ask the PST would be: Why not take over the club without FP and come to an agreemnet for a hire/hire purchase scheme as Harris has presented direct with chinney? The logical answer that I can come up with is that the HNWI individuals who are in effect bankrolling the deal will not support it without the purchase of teh ground in full.... now call me a cynic, but why are they so concerned about FP being 'owned' and why would they not still back the bestest club withoout this as part of the deal... the only logocal explanation is that they have some sort of development opportunity in mind? (I know alluded to before) but surely the PST have asked this question? The PST should IMHO have acknowledged that they cant afford the ground now - and that the delays generated by insisting they do have only erroded some of tehir working capitol and importantly erroded their stake as teh HNWIs are getting their loans converted to additional equity.... SURELY - given that they know exactly that chineey wont let go until he gets what he thinks he is owed, a deal along similar lines to the Harris bid with Chinney would have been the logical way to go? It could have been wrapped up months ago, and without owing the council... a stagered deal based on a percentage of annual revenue until an agre amount has been paid would surely have been their best option..? Or am I missing something

I always wonder that those who want to 'hang em high, have tougher prisons, sentance, public floggings Daily Mail types' who like to suggest that prison is no longer a deterant to criminals should amybe look at those countries that have death penalties, hidous **** holes, torture and the toughest prisons and look at the crime figures - they are no different and as Turkish points out, crime figures are usually linked to the levels of poverty and social condition/background...yet naturally this is ignored as wet liberalism.... The only way to deal with crime is at the root cause, rather than sticking a plaster over symptoms. Yes its difficult to comprehend just how some people can committ some of the hideous things they do at the extreme end - the murderers, rapists and paedos etc, but even they started out as innocent babies - what went wrong and how these people grew up needs to be understood and fixed... in a decent society, you dont ask for harsher sentances to try sweep it all under teh carpet, you ask what has driven young people into crime and try and address it.

.... funny but having the 'second highest attendance in the league (L2) is frcken irrelevent - Unless that is considered by tehir fans to be their natural level... Durham is making the point that 50% have fecked off since they were all there supporting the Gunners... Are they really that dumbass down there? As to the football league being really supportinve and impressed by the PST bid... have they not considered the specail agent cunning plan by the FL... in that they want shot of the rotting corpse and the best way to do that is to let the PST continue to argue with Chinney over the ground value, until teh end of sesaosn clock runs out... and they get booted out?

If only our minds were as ample as Hanna's funbags, this place would be more intellectually stimulating -

Think its more that many seem used to the method ogf change and givven teh success Adkins was building on what Pards had set, more willing to accept that NC must know what he is doing, and the improvements building again on Adkins foundation seem clear as day

CB finally makes a rational point... that maybe some of us do have a tendancy to want it both ways re the PR stuff. I guess it depends on what we believe should be in teh public domain and how its portrayed. Sacking Adkins was always going to be a highly controvercial issue that would have the media scurrying for rent a gob quotes form all and sundry in the game - and we wre treated to the whole shebang - badly handled all round...but it was a footballing issue and so we can not complain and new manager/old manager will always be big news - negative PR from the club which should have done better. But NON foottballing matters aired in public ? Sorry, what is the point of it? Stirred by the media, will be divisive, and is frankly no-ones business. This is negative PR that is only in teh public domain because certain folks let it be known... so agin why? NO need for it. So there is a difference even if the narcistic crew on here try to tell us otherwise...

Thing the FCR needs to be in place to stop the whole pompey way of failing to pay for players - and also the issue of monies owed to other clubs. The ONLY way that we could get rid of the Football creditors rule is by more stringent rules applied across football: 1. All transfer fees must be paid in ful at the time of purchase 2. NO club can defer wages/image rights to players etc - must be paid monthly and in full, -20 points for any wage deferal 3. HMRC/Tax/Vat must be paid monthly and be upto date, deferrals = -20 points for each count Only with a far more draconian approach woudl clubs not be able to take risks on players they cant afford and ensure other clubs are not taken down with them if they were able to write off transfer debt. The FCR is unfair to all other creditors, but at this time its a necessary evil - although any local business or supplier who has goven Pompey credit terms since teh last admin must have been aware of the risks in ever getting paid....

should we spell it out for them again... how thick to you need to be not to see 3 seperate 'crimes' and 3 seperate punishments...

Its a 'Virtual' bid

Bedlam by Christopher Brookmyre Bit of a departure this; most of his writing to date has been crime/thriller laced with biting satire and black humour - have read them all as they appeal to my sense of humour. But Bedlam is SciFi - still comic at times and there is the usual sinsiter nasty corporate at work. The bastart love child of Tron and Total Recall, combined with an ubergeek infatuation with gaming, it produces several 'best mind f*** yet' moments as it deals with the concept of conciousness in a digital environment. The premise to consider is Swedish Philosopher Nick Bostroms 'Simulation Hypothesis' - but to go into it is brain frying so, will leave that up to any reader to discover - Good yarn, excellent twists and well crafted... typical Brookmyre in that sense.

Even if this is a plan to ensure Chinney gets his money back - is that really so bad - that Pompey are actually at least paying ONE creditor his due? You see this is the problem, no one wants to pay anyone their due... Chinney may be deeply intwinned in the problems of the last few years, but that is irrelevent, his is owed substantial funds so why have a problem with paying him back, rather than trying to get him to accept 3 mil?
-
This is the problem as I see it - Its not Trust or Bust, but Trust or HNWIs dont get the equity they were hoping for in lieu of teh cash they pumped in to keep the thing going... cue 'well if the fans are getting 15% for free, then the money collected could be used to pay back teh HNWIs...which could get interesting. Why wont the PST admit to the ACTUAL stake they will own under their bid and let those who have contributed vote on this? Already it appears that teh PST seem less democratic and the decision to press on is likely to be form the HNWIs who have most to lose?

...although,,, some footballying dbt has been paid... in effect CVA 1 is complete because the 16mil agreed to non secured creditors is PART of the 68 mil of debt acculmulated in teh more resent admin episode... so in effct we can forget about CVA 1 its finished... with the small exception of another -10 for the fact it failed and thus the 16 mil reduced to £500k.... What the dumbass skates fail to recognise is that these are three seperate crimes and thus 3 seperate penalties - and no one is punsihing anyone twice ; For the Dumb Skates -9 points for entering admin in the prem - 1st admin -10 points for entering admin again - 2nd admin -10 points for the failure of CVA from the first admin as although the 16 mil agreed in CVA is now part of the current debt, they will be diluting it to £500k so in effect its failed - they can avoid these -10 points IF the pay the 16 mil as agreed to unsecured creditors simple.

Kracken... stop it... although I sort of know what you mean.....
