By no longer having prem overheads.... which is why we play kids and try and palm off the higher earners and close sections of the ground - in effect downsizing.

Where have all the Happy-Clappies gone?
Frank's cousin replied to Channon's Sideburns's topic in The Saints
Sure have dropped points aginst sides we would have hoped to beat, but we have gained quite a few against sides who would have expected to beat us - Preston, Cardiff etc. As we always do - grab points agains the better sides and lose them to the wekaer teams who tend totry and stifle the game... Those 3 wins have kept uis in the mix and there is still som way to go - This is where Wotte will show his true mettle. You are entitle to vent your spleen, but what is it going to achieve during teh last 8 games? Lowe aint going to sack Wotte now, so we just have to hope he pulls it out the bag. I was livid when Wotte was given the job - (sure UP can find my 'Wotte the F***?' thread;-)) because I could NOT see how he would bring enough change to teh ix to make a difference - what was not known at the time was that because we had no offers on those experienced players we might as well use them as we are paying from them anyway - which we did, and we got results - its now also down to those experienced players to do the business after being given the chance. -

You know. -
Why? Dont get your love in obsession with Pearson thats all - hes not our manager and hes at another club - nothing to do with us any more.
-
Question is when will you take Pearson's **** out of your mouth....??

Please... a comedy moment if there ever was one. Wotte won 3 on the bounce and NATURALLY folk were please, had he not done so we would have been p!ssed off and sitting with Charlton in the doomed slot. We have lost once in the last six. 11 points from 18 - and whatever we think of Wotte, this is still an improvement to what went on before. You guys want it both ways - when we aint getting the results, no matter how NICE JP is its all about points on the board - yet when we actually get some you do a 180 and suddenly its about what he says in public that is more important...and the moment we get two draws and defeat against the second team in teh league you prefer to score cheap points off fellow fans that hope for BETER results and safety - you simply cant make it up, unfeckinbelievable -
The mortgage is doable, its teh quality of the playing staff we need to worry about - our revenue will fall to approx 8-10 mil for sure, but the mortgage is about 1.6 so just cheap players....

I suspect Lowe has a plan to avoid admin first and foremost - ideally remaining in the CCC, but admin avoidance is priority even if the result is relegation.

Saints couldn't afford Pearson - it all sounds very familiar..
Frank's cousin replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
To counter these IMHO The Woodward 'fiasco' - not such a bad idea - lots of positives to be gained, but badly timed, badly media managed and **** poor communicated - no one really sure of the role, not helped sadly by old school media and 'football' people mocking it - no doubt in part because they probably had their noses put out of joint by the fear it might work and highlight them for the dinosaurs many of them are. Also financially, it was not appropriate at the time even if the figures bandied around were way off the mark - spread to undermine the decision Shareholders - simple - the current majority who are bothered , for some reason believ whatever plan he is overseeing is the still the best way to get us out of the mire LONG TERM. Unfortunately its obvious that what this means SHORT TERM is a very visable belt tightening which negatively impacts on the playing side - From a fans perspective this is naturally sh!te, but without knowing the detail of what is happening behind the scenes, why and what the long term stability is going to be like does make it really just speculation to try and fathom out - more communication would certainly be beneficial. Admin, would be a feckin disaster and IMHO thats why everything is being done to avoid it. But the things being done impact most on the playing squad - the biggest financial drain - so from a fans perspective it looks hideous. Jim Smith/Pearson 'we cant afford it' - Come on - stop be so naive!!! FFS. Everyone knows that Pearson having the break clause instigated had nothing to do with money directly, but was due to Lowe's Dutch/youth plan of which Pearson was not seen as a part of, same as Jim smith was most likely relieved of his duties for other reasons. BUT all businesses and clubs will AGREE on how these things are communicated to the media - usually with the backing of all parties to minimise any negative media coverage or to cover any personal embarassment - its COMMMON PRACTICE in most business which are under public and media scrutiny - come on ho many managers are 'sacked' these days? They are all inevitably 'mutually consented'. I suspect that actually you are not that naive, but recognised another opportunity to support an accustaion of lowe allegedly being a 'liar' - be careful with those statements as we know Mr Lowe is no stranger to the libel courts. -
Win our game in hand and we are then in control of our own destiny after Forest got stuffed we would ahve a better goal difference - Barnsley still game games in hand too though so are teh danger, and Norwich seem to making a fight of it - think we need 4 wins and a draw from the last eight though.
-
I understand you, but i think the problem is that it has become so intrinsically linked. We get results and Wotte is doing so despite the board, we do badly and he's part of Lowe's misguided plan, He wants more supporters as any club would, to return and encourage the team, and gets grief for being a puppet, despite simply being an employee and as such SHOULD like all employees publically at least tow the club line. I dont think he's saying that fans should not ahve their opinion or not blame lowe if thats what they believe, but saying even if you do, you should still come and support the team as it might make all the difference in the 12th man POV and hopefully relieve the financial pressures a little... and that suppoprting is MORE important than the politics as thats what the wourd means...is there really anything wrong with that?

I suggest you review the last 5 years audited accounts if you want to know where the money went... Statements such as 'where did it go' etc are totally unhelpful and ignorant as it 'implies' some kind of dodgy dealings, which is simply not the case - This is not about defending Lowe, but about getting to the truth before just coming out with this kind of rhetoric - and as for getting fans back - Lowe could go tomorrow and we still would not see a major change in gates unless we start wining more... apart form the 100 or so 'protestors'.... 'Proping up his regime'? Boll0x , its about proping up the club, the one you profess to support - Lowe will be gone one day, no doubt about that, but if fans keep staying away, you may not have a club to come back to. SFC is more important than some vendetta against a bloody chairman, because we cant get over relegation and having a sheite team.....
-
Brad: Is that the linos flag or are just pleased to see me?
-
'Post cup final it seemed we could achieve almost anything' - Classic - can you explain (I have only asked this question about 200 times since this rhetoric was first introduced) how we would have funded this 'limitless opportunity' - You are living in cloud cookooland and no one has yet offered a suitable and realistic argument for how we could have 'progressed' without serious cash injection. Sure we were on a roll, we had momentum, but we had not additional funds to support the potential ina division where you need to spend evertything you can just to stand still. Unbelieveable. A shed load of mistakes have been made since then by Lowe, Wilde and Crouch and combined with just plain old bad luck we have had a miserable few years, and yes the blame falls squarley at the various incumbants during that time - All of them. That does not mean that they are exclusively to blame, because you know that little thing called finance does play a major part. Whatever ideals, whatever you like to believe in , there is one simple fact - the reduced gate has had a MAJOR impact on our ability to progress - the reduced revenues directly impact policy and the players we can attract and afford to keep. Wotte is merely expressing the need and yes the board will express the same thing to get more fans back - to SUPPORT the club - the mark of true fans is that they try and attend as much as they can no matter how dark it gets - for the good of the club NOT the good of the board.
-
This is NOT club politics Duncan - Unless you chose to make it so - this is a manager simply saying he believes fans should support whatever is going on in the boardroom, because thats what 'supporters' do? Fair enough if you dont agree, but I think he has every right to say it. Even if very cynical and you believe that hes been told to get on the PR bandwagon, why is it that we treat football as different from any other job - he is employed by the club, and is doing what is expected - tow the line and promote the idea that we NEED more fans back at the club to help ease the financial pressures and get behind the team for the relagtion fight. Seems to me that we are happy for managers or ex-managers to slag the board and moan, because they are agreeing with the 'majority' - but when a manager tows the club line and seems to working well with Lowe, he becomes the 'enemy'.... its quite sad that its come to this. Folk are offended because the truth hurts - real fans DO stick with the club through thick and thin - and support through the darkest hours - this is not about saving rupert but about saving the club. I suggest many on here think that by are affraid to say it because its 'contovercial' or could be considered to be supporting Lowe... BUt what Wotte maybe does need to accept is that the reduction in gates is probably only down a few hundred as a 'protest' against Lowe, the biggets reductions have been CCC football, poor results and poor performances - if he gets that right, gates will increase whatever happens with Lowe.
-
Indeed, we are always told when attacks are made on Wotte/JP/LOwe that the circumstances of finance etc are irrelevent as its a RESULTS DRIVEN BUSINESS - so i think Ron is right in making Statistical comparisons if comparing the two. Nowt wrong with doing that if looking to discuss the differences between the two, but these things just get turned into a LOwe/Crouch debate or anti lowe rant and I dont think Perason or Wotte deserve that for their contributions.

Entering voluntary administration is not somtething we are likely to do, unless forced admin was a CERTAINTY, we would then perhaps entervolutarily before that time IF there was a relegation/points scenario that benefitted us. If we just get relegated, there is no certainty that administration would follow, just further cost cutting and asset liquidation - in fact if we have survived this long, I think the board must have discussed a relegation plan with teh creditors and agreed an asset sale and cost reduction process as a last resort if if we go down.

Will Champion (Coldplay) does still care

Missed by many ;-) -
Well...er...must admit, when rattled, have been drawn into this... but have hopefully apologised afterwards... Football is a passionate thing, so its bound to elicit passionate argument and response, which is great, but as mentioned, for me what is more annoying is when things are 'deliberately' misinterpreted or 'half quoted and taken out of context' to try and undermine a poster, rather than a direct response to the actual point being made.
