The club is no longer run FOR the fans...............
Frank's cousin replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
FF, there is a huge amount of emotive rhetoric spouted when folks discuss clubs, owners, etc. Reality is that when you let go of all that baggage and just accept the club owes us nothing... And see it for what it us, a game, a club we CHOSE to support for our own enjoyment, it's a lot easier to enjoy it. I went 'down' to SOL as one of the 800 odd and as all was disappointed with the performance... We looked tired and heavy footed - and an alternative viewpoint might be that be that an attempt was made to freshen things up... Crap drive home, but the hysterical nonsense on here, fuelled by our 2or 3 resident trolls is comical as it is expected. Thank feck this site is not reflective of the majority of fans, just the plaything for a few saddos with nothing else to do, who take such delight in spreading their 'opinion'. The eh club always has and always will make decisions they believe tone in their best interests- some will resonate with fans others will anger them... It's always been like that. Seriously, when the is accepted, we can get on with our part in this, supporting and hopefully enjoying it... It is after all our choice and it's meant to be fun... -
not it sure whether it's self awareness you lack or intelligence, either way, once again you have proven to be unable to comprehend the issue. If the system and drive is there and the leadership to continue the approach is strong, then individuals do not matter... If the leadership, drive and ambition is not there, then an individual with influence such as MP leaving would be a blow... Simple, but if you are simply too thick to get it, that's not my problem... As to being heartbroken... Jeez, it's football and plenty more important things to care about. Your sad little attempts to belittle are a mild irritation. You are like an itch on the scrotum.. Annoying, but not worth getting upset about.

The difference between them in my book, and why we had a buzz about the place, was that despite the low probability of any success of that kind, NC had the knack of ensuring we looked at and aspired to what was possible... No matter how improbable. How ow far we could have gone with that 'project' no one will know, and it's easy to dismiss it as hollow pipe dreams, but the truth is we don't know. I just hope that KL has the small energy, enthusiasm and refusal to accept our 'place' in the pyramid as NC displayed. It's Niger been about what we achieve, but in how determined we are to try. To me that is what sport should be about and why I admired what NC was about despite his obvious faults in other areas.
-
Lol at you for being too daft to understand what was meant by that statement.... It's not about the individual if the systems and process are in place to ensure continuity of approach... Same as it's not about NC, but about the strategy and drive he brought - that continues, no problem, style of play continues, no problem, drive and aspiration continues, no problem... Unlike you sad few who seem happy to accept anything provided nasty Nic is out the picture and Frannie can get his carpet back in his bathroom, I am less convinced that come summer we will continue in the upward direction we have seen these last few years- Happy to be proven wrong, but not convinced I will be.... I just just find it pretty funny ( though sad is probably closer) that's a few years ago, the 'mob/ biggest mouths' were so against Lowe for NOT showing any ambition.... With anything good he did brushed under the carpet as an irrelevance... The same mob are then so critical of NC for daring to show some with the trivial things suddenly becoming so important.... The only time this mob was fleetingly happy was when Wilde took control.... And we all know how that turned out...
-
Don't worry guys, whilst crying myself to sleep over the loss of NC, I console myself knowing that whatever happens there are wise and knowledgable dedicated football posters, full of humour, wit and intellect such as Turks and Hypo to keep me happy... What happens to Saints matters not, whilst these two Jasper's keep us all entertained...
-
Don't worry guys. It does not matter what happens with MP. We have been assured by the forum elite/gobshietes/Trolls etc that everything will be so much better now that Benali can once again walk through the SMS corridors, the parking fees have been axed and the 'nasty Italian Dwarf' has gone.
-
Not sure why some so obsessed with Cork v Big Vic. They are t different players who play different roles depending on our need.. Cork offers far more creativity, big Vic is the disrupter. Each play a part in a squad game. We can't judge Vic on last weeks return from his injury, needs sharpness etc. I would play him, Stoke have some big units

Fair point... which makes it seem rather strange that we only get Turks and Glasgow and not at least 100 or confirmations... also ma bit odd that with so many ITK and with access to such direct 'gossip' - its all negative - which I find hard to believe for a club that has progressed as it has over the last 4 years... Even though this forum has NO trolls, the definition of a troll is a sole focus on negative stories to Wind up and irritate... make of that what you will.
-
Wow... huge changes... no more parking costs... and er... everyone is happier... and er... well forgive me but how is all that really important? Fans are just so freakishly fickle, inconsistent and love to suddenly become all selfrighteous about such monumental club cultural things as free parking.... yet a few years ago, I seem to recall the vast majority on here and its previous incarnations, being rather assertive in their view that all the 'nice' fan friendly stuff that Lowe did now and again counted for jack **** as it was a results driven business... we wanted investment and ambition, nothing else mattered... although I daresay there will be plenty of revisionism towards that attitude now. I want my club to win games - and do all it can to win as many as possible. I want it to show ambition. I want it to be led by folks who do NOT accept there is a natural level for the club, but focus on what is possible, not probable - it's not about what we achieve or do not... but about how we go about it and how hard we try - under NC we had that in spades. No guarrantees and probabilty of success if putting on the 'sensible hat' was always going to be low, but NOT zero and the focus on what was possible was about aspiration and refusing to accept a glass ceiling and our 'place' - that was what was good. Sure the price was by all accounts a bit of a dictatorial regime - and car parking charges - but those now jumping on the 'I am glad he has gone and never liked him' bandwagon and shouting that 'he just wanted to spend KLs money to achieve CL' should ask themselves if that was the case.... why invest so much in the Academy? Why bother if he just wanted to splash stupid money on 'proven' stars? Why go for academy spend which is long term? Sorry but your comments are inconsistent with the reality. NC believed it would be 'possible' to progress by USING home grown talent... Notice the word Possible and no one can argue with that. How 'Probable it was was another matter, but it was the focus and energy on what was possible that made it exciting. Naturally, the hope is now that KL will get the bug and continue in the same vein.. yet some posts seem to suggest acceptance of our 'position', as if because Benali can walk around SMS and we can park for free, that makes it all great - a 'family' club once again... all well and good, but if we accept 'stabilty' and the odd good cup run... WTF? how is that aspirational? how is that ambition? NC - never going to be everyones cup of tea. BUT i just hope his exit does not mark the end of our ambitions to more than just another prem also ran. In 2003 after the Ciup final and an 8th place finish, that was NOT considered to be the pinnacle of what we could do - as fans shouted loud for Lowe to show some ambition - spend 12mil on Saha and Malbranque, yet were left disspointed and disillusioned that Lowe was not building on what we had acheived... yet seems many on here are now comfortable with 8th or 9th... either there has been a complete shameless change of heart, or the future will see fans turn on KL when we DO become fecked off with scraping 14th again...
-
Adkins being on borrowed time was plain to see following the Coventry game.... The De Matteo link was in the press - it's not sneering it's just you and Glasgow like to make out your deep ITK, when in reality it's just putting 2+2 together from what's in the public domain- or in GS's case revisionist or editing previous posts to suit. The reason for WUM accusations is quite simple dear boy... The definition of a troll has the fact that it's all negative at the heart of it. Both you and GS, seem only to be ITK about anything negative - never anything remotely positive in outlook. So tell me - when is KL selling and to whom and will it be good or bad ?
-
Everyone loves a good conspiracy... When usually the truth is pretty boring. Our problem will be what happens if ONE of the stars leaves. Eg what that says to the others about what is left of any plan to progress...one goes, others will follow. Truth is we know nothing about what KL has planned, or what happens even if she does not sell ( and my money is on the fact she will). Stability and mid table will not be enough and a lot will depend on what message she sends out come May.

the classic ' I am a victim, no one believes me'... Well give some evidence and you might get some credibility 'sunshine' You always seem more concerned about how you are perceived by the 'mongboard' hoards than anything else, yet lack the wit to see that if it's credibility you desire, then you need to provide more than just another 'loudest' voice in the playground... Which is intriguing given your WUM tendencies 'sunshine'. ;-)

Lol you sad fu ck - you can have any opinion you like, but as you well know it's posting an opinion that is merely designed to iritate that makes you a troll - if were just a genuine miserable negative t w a t, you wouldn't be called at troll, we'd just call you AustrianmountainSaint MKII... I am so pleased you are a success in real life.... I guess being in such an important and well remunerated position that allows you to post on chat rooms 24 hours a day must be anmazing. Well done you ;-) Lol at 'head on' - seriously? Trolls are like parasites, need to keep the host alive - sadly you don't seem to understand the limits - you will just end up hooking a few random rare posters as everyone else just steers clear of you... Have fun ;-)

There corrected it for you so that its now truly applicable to you and Barry ;0)

Trousers, you are week versed in all the ntjobbery... So please help as I have misplaced my criminal charges for serious fraud. You see, correct me if I am wrong, but the opening paragraph of that piece implies all of pompeys woes are a direct result of these swindlers who took the 400mil and lined their pockets, as opposed to it being spend on players and their wages... But I must have missed the news reports where all these dodgy owners have been charged with fraud relating to PFC... Now Antanov seems to be in trouble for some issue with his extensive Snoros overdraft but no other charges have been levied against anyone implicating them in removing cash from PFC coffers where they were not entitled to do so.... So is that part made up, speculation, a lie that if repeated sufficiently becomes a pompeys truth? Please help me out here, as I am struggling to interpret the purse or value of that blog.

And the next one off the wage bill is......

two ow sides to every thing..... If speculating, you could just as easily suggest that although it was recognised that these guys might not be good enough for us in the prem, they were rewarded for their efforts in getting us there with contracts reflective of that... Which makes them more difficult to loan out.... We don't stick 'stupid prices' on their heads, just ones that are viable from a business perspective... And not charitable.. Respectfully suggest, there is a greater reality to this side than assuming the nasty club were deliberately restricting careers... But guess it is very fashionable to find constant fault with everything under NC now he's gone, so I must be wrong.... -
indeed. I don't agree with the system either.... But in 7 years in the prem and some 400mil spend later they invested nothing in developing any infrastructure... They chose another route, so it's not like other lower league clubs that never had the luxury of that choice... Buy wait, I am wrong. All that cash was siphoned off by a succession of dodgy owners...well where are the criminal prosecutions if that was the case? I want to have sympathy, because clubs DO mean so much to their fans and community, perhaps unhealthily so, but the first step to rebuilding is accepting the truths about what happened and learning from it. If they want ti eventually have a Cat 1, they need to make that a clear strategy and start investing in it, even if it means less on First team and acknowledge it's at least 10-20 years to get there...

Shaw is worth whatever someone is willing to pay... If it exceeds that minimum we would accept.... Collymore however, is wrong if he believes Shaw would be sold for as little as 12 million...

She's big She's f*t Scotty wants a bit a of that...

Thank feck that there is someone posting with a brain on this matter... The amount of sanctimonious crap in these 15 pages, the pious and relentless bitterness would be hysterical if not so pathetic. As you say its a lynch mob mentality without a grain of compassion or even a smattering of self - awareness... The eh lad did something stupid. He has some demons that he needs to address. So do we go with mass hysteria and get the pitch forks out and make him someone else's problem, or do we man up and recognise that in order for someone to be part of a close dressing room, you don't turn your back the moment it's gets tricky... You do what you can to help. Football fans are known for their fickle nature, but sometimes posts on here suggest they are just thick.

Seriously? Anyway kind of gone a little off topic... I am just a little saddened how so many are in some respects following in Matt's footsteps... Wallowing in the schadenfreude of NCs departure, conveniently forgetting where we came from during his tenure. It's always the case that in football, most fans have double standards at best and completely two faced at worst... Lowe gets any credit for staple wood and SMS diluted to almost nothing .... NCs impact is downgraded to anone could have achieved that with MLs money... Yet in both cases the events happened under their watch.... We are quick to want rid of managers even when they are known to be good, decent and full of potential, with the cliche that it's a results driven business and they are accountable.... Ultimately, LOwe and NC were in charge and good things happened... But are conveniently forgotten by those who do not like em and seemingly can shout the loudest... in the wonderful utopian ideal that some fans seem to live in, all this would have been achieved by lovingly kind and open individuals, that are close to sainthood... I fact would give mother Theresa a run for her money in the speed towards their beatification ... But seriously, does anyone really expect that? Is anyone really that naive that it's easy to find such folk, especially given the type of industry football is and what attracts? I am am not surprised that Matt was a bit daft enough to be taken in by those chancers, I am more surprised though that he can't let the NC thing pass his lips without at least mentioning what has been achieved - money or not, there the NPC is full of clubs who have spent a lot and never made it - ours success was based on a great combination, the chairmanship drive and vision, the money to support it, managers who bought into it and players who believed in it... Matt needs to recognise that if he wants to be taken seriously for anything beyond the genius he displayed on the pitch.

Will get round to dropping you a few quid... Not seen you around much of late...although can't blame ya! ;-) hope all all is good with you and yours

Not sure FF. - In the true spirit of things, compassion and support should not be limited to those that seek it... If anything those that don't and need the help and support more are priority cases? Also so as I understand it, if a criminal act has taken place, the police can charge Dani regardless of any complaint by Fonte. The only issue is whether there would be enough witnesses willing to step forward and give evidence to ensure a conviction. We KNEW what we were taking on, and whilst there is no excuse for what he has done, I would like to think that the squad we have on reflection recognise that if someone is behaving as he does, and with previous, there is something wrong that needs help. The choice is simply get rid and hope someone else deals with it, or stand up and be that community and family club that rallies round one of their own and gets him the help he needs. Too easy to make him someone else's problem and I think if we do just ditch him, it's to our shame... Seriously, would be understandable, but not something that would make me particularly proud.

Lots of self righteousness going of here... The boy. Did a bad thing, is temperamental etc.... We KNEW that when we bought him so why are we all jumping on his back now... Yes he needs to be Punished appropriately, but IF he shows the appropriate contrition, the decent thing is to accept it and TRY and help him through his demons. The guy is talented, he is flawed like many of us, but he ain't going to be able to improve, if he is cast aside wherever he goes.... I thought we were better than that. There are plenty on here that go on ad infinitum about us being a community club, one that is a 'family' and all those platitudes, well it's time like these where such attributes are really tested. If we want to be that, we need to show, by supporting players who do wrong and helping them integrate.... Sometimes the hypocracy of fans is breathtaking... But not surmising as half the posts on hers are just the usual wind up trolls spouting their inane ******....
