I was a member and played in Nottingham and Middlesbrough!!! -
Met him a few times, I also live in BW and my Mrs owns the Wine Bar there. He's been in a few times with Mike Osman. I wanted to rename the Wine Bar The Dell when we bought it but the Mrs said no :-)

Interested to gauge how many red and white will be in with the sky blues. Due to a huge miscalculation in timing and organisational skills, me and 3 mates managed to get tickets from a Liverpool fan living in Leighton Buzzard! COYR's

James Beattie was at Southampton airport this morning....
bigdavewatson posted a topic in The Saints
Not a wind up, I was catching the 7.05am flight to Amsterdam and he was in front of me in the queue going through to departures. Not saying he is signing and it may be a co-incidence that he is in Southampton (think he still has a house here) when we are looking at signing a new striker??? -
Do you want to play at Saint Mary's tomorrow?....
bigdavewatson replied to bigdavewatson's topic in The Saints
Guys, thanks for your mails and triggering some happy memories of the last time I played at SMS. I am delighted that the place has been taken by a fellow fan (and that I am not out of pocket ;-) ) Barcelona Saint will, for one afternoon only, be Big Dave Watson! -

Is there an amount you could afford to pay? -
You may or may not know, but there is a Saints Foundation 11 a side match taking place at SMS tomorrow afternoon. It is along the same lines as the Forum matches of recent years. You are provided with a kit, use the changing rooms, play 90 minutes on the hallowed turf, spectators can watch,DVD provided etc.... Anyway, due to a nasty tackle on Wednesday night training, I injured myself and am unable to play tomorrow - I am completely gutted, as you can imagine. If anyone fancies 90 minutes at centre back for the "home" team and has £200 to re-imburse me my costs (this is money that I have paid to the Saints Foundation for the place), please contact me @ jamesmorgan76@hotmail.co.uk. Cheers

My understanding of the evening is as follows. MO took the initiative to organise the two events as he is an entertainer and realised that the club were not really doing anything on this scale. He did a bloody good job on the dinner with the cabaret and inviting the likes of The Doc, Williams, Souness, Keegan, Holmes, Beattie, Le Tiss, Franny, Merrington, Chatterley and many of the 76 team. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed and you could talk to anyone and everyone. The award was a decision by his friends to honour the guy, which was met with universal agreement by everyone in the room (and most sane people on this board) Lawrie had absolutely no idea about the award and was embarrassed, yet extremely proud - actually the tribute was almost as much about his Wife, Ann, as it was LM ! I don't care who got paid what for the event, who organised the award (deserved in my humble opinion) it was a brilliant night that I will remember for many a year.

There are a few FACTS that should be remembered... 1) Matty should never, ever be slagged off by any Saints fan after what he did for this club. 2) Mike Osman is someone I have worked with personally and he is an absolute diamond. He didn't hesitate and went out of his way to organise a charity event for a friend of mine who's daughter was seriously injured in a car crash. He spent days organising the entertainment and event and we raised £60k for charity in one night - he didn't make nor ask for a penny. 3) The current players could have put in an appearance and probably would have liked to spend an evening in the company of Keegan, Matty, Shearer, Souness etc. 4) Anyone who hasn't got tickets, and is a Saints fan over the age of 25, should go in my opinion. I know what is planned and really wouldn't miss it for the world!

Morgan for me, he has improved greatly and has the ability we'll need in the Championship, just wish he'd score a bit, he really does look like a rabbit at the end of a shotgun when he gets within shooting distance.

Rumours of Saints player being arrested after trouble?
bigdavewatson replied to Tractor_Saint's topic in The Saints
My last post on the matter. There was an altercation as the guy who got hit with the bottle (resulting in lots of claret) slipped going down the stairs (i've never been there, so don't know what the layout is like) and was trying to apologize when the saints player just flipped. My friend was a couple of steps behind. He only realised it was a saints player when he was being interviewed by the police and the copper told him who it was, obviously after it all kicked off. When the full facts come out, I cant see this guy playing for Saints again, which will be a big loss to the team, but will be what he deserves from what I know. -

Actually this is spot on. It was in Whitehouse and it was a major incident. Allegedly (only saying allegedly because I wasn't there but a very good friend of mine was and it was his friend who was hit in the face with the bottle) a saints player mentioned above did hit someone in the face with a bottle. As far as I am aware he was arrested at the scene. My friend has no reason to lie, they are all Saints fans and claim it was totally unprovoked. I was going to post earlier but knew I would get shot down! -
Good point, same with me, although in my case it was my Grandad and I guess the fact that it was something I shared with a family member (as did you) is the connection to a family club? Injury has healed fine, thanks. I actually ripped some blood vessels in my leg, it turned blue with the internal bleeding and I could hardly move it. Back playing now and looking forward to next year's game!

FF, nice post, I was going to go as I will always remember the giant leap from Kevin Moore at Wembley in the ZDS and always liked him as a player. Some of the comments about LMac and Osman are unbelievable when the post was to highlight something charitable for a guy and his family who are in a very bad place right now. Manji - you are a disgrace. FF I echo your sentiments about reasons why you fell for the club in the first place. Reason I didn't go was that it clashed with my daughters 11th birthday party - I didn't realise the clash until the last minute.

My thoughts are with your family, a great man who will be remembered forever. Huge impact in such a short time - RIP -
FF, WS, I feel for you guys, some of the vitriol aimed at you is shocking. I believe that some people are envious of other people's connections/relationships with people who just happen to be involved in some which way with the club. I am pretty close to someone who was heavily involved at the club for many years and still has many footballing contacts in the area. He is adamant that NC was going to sack AP at the end of last season and that AP, who I know my contact speaks to regularly, was resigned to the fact that he was going. I keep schtum because of the abuse I have seen other people getting just for sharing info (which I thought was part of the reason this kind of forum exists). I for one will miss your insightful posts.

loved it, thanks for the link!

our chosen one really is amateurish in the extreme. When compared with the options I am really disappointed at the 125, red nose badge. I would happily sign any petition, write an e-mail or even dip my nuts in garlic oil before roasting them on a barbecue to get it changed to GS's. well, maybe not the barbecue thing but you get my point.
