I’m sure people thought the same of Jamal Musiala when he left us for Chelsea….

Those saying we shouldn’t compare women’s football with the men’s professional game are absolutely right. We shouldn’t. We should be comparing it to grassroots, such is the standard. Rather than waste your money watching that rubbish, go spend a fiver to watch your local non-league team. They could do with the funding and you never know, might produce a player for saints one day!
-
Difference being, 99% of people on this forum are interested in the euros/World Cup. less than 10% are interested in this crap. We’ve already distinguished men’s and women’s football shouldn’t be compared against each other… Feel free to create a new forum. Saints women web or something, I’m sure that’ll be a raving success.
-
Or a panini sticker book, or tweets from the BBC comparing them to one of England’s greatest players, for a shot that was pathetic…
-
Nice argument, however, this isn’t a women’s football forum. In fact, if anything, this part of the forum is supposed to be about Saints. So you women’s football fanatics, take your discussions elsewhere if you don’t want it criticised.

Your over aggressive defence of this makes me think you’re either lying to yourself to appear inclusive, or just a pervert enjoying watching all the lady’s in short shorts.…

Informed about what, exactly? Ive played and coached at a very decent, non-league standard. I’ve watched hundreds of games from the premier league to tyro league. These are professionals who train every day and have the best facilities around to help them better themselves. Some of which struggle to put in a cross off the ground. Give that to any male who’s playing in the Hampshire premier league or higher and they’d be the best player at this tournament. There is clearly a huge push from certain media outlets to improve the popularity of the women’s game. That will not come until the standard improves. at the minute it’s miles off.

Interesting, but sensible approach.

A shame, I like him. Trouble is, he couldn’t play with JWP and was never going to be played ahead of him. A move best for all parties.
-
True, they did. At one stage they thought they had him. Not sure what changed, probably PSG interest, but they had talks with him 100%.
-
So unless your opinion mirrors that of yours, don’t form an opinion or post about it. Right, got ya.

A lot of smoke on this one and not usually this much smoke without fire. Not just KWP leaving but a lot of links to an incoming RB, leaving us with 3 which is excessive. Would be a big loss for us if true. Here’s hoping it’s just the club and agent playing each other in contract negotiations.
-
There may not be a pathway at Chelsea, however all of those examples are playing for Mid table PL clubs or higher. With us, you either make it in the first team or end up L2 or lower. In recent years, Chelsea’s success rate of bringing through PL standard players is significantly better than ours.

I mean it’s hard to reserve an opinion when it’s been rammed down your throat with total nonsense like that “beckham esque” example, from the BBC. However; since the start of the tournament, personally (using me as an example because I was called out), I’ve made about 3 posts. Hardly “keeps coming back”. I’ve watched about 30 minutes of the whole thing here and there. Nothing has changed my opinion that in general, the standard of football, from elite competitors, is nothing short of shambolic. To be fair; I actually feel abit sorry for most of the girls, they no doubt accept that it’s not a sport many are or will be interested in. it’s people like the BBC over pushing it and idiots like that Yank who was asking for equal pay who stoke the fire and debate.

You have to wonder what would have happened to us if we’d signed Adebeyor and or Drogba back then. Assuming they would have gone on to have been what they became, you’d have thought it would have added a bit more £ to the pot, which could have potentially saved us. Who knows!
-
Who was the lad from Bristol City we were due to sign, back in the championship, but he allegedly failed a medical. Can’t remember his name, but I do remember him being their captain and was pretty exciting at the time. I think we then went on to sign Jos Hooiveld instead, so I guess it all worked out well in the end.
-
He’s JWP without the free kicks.
-
Is that the game that was played at a training ground? An elite competition played at a training ground….
-
What are you rambling on about? If I was a player at this euros, I’d feel patronised and embarrassed with the media treating them like children. If any daughter(s) decided they wanted to play football, I’d educate that shooting from 50 yards and that being the result is fucking shit. Not blow smoke up their arse. I’d also from a pretty early age manage expectations around the quality of female football and the reasons why it’s not a mainstream sport and why they don’t deserve to be paid anything like what the men do. Your argument around giving young people an opportunity to play sport doesn’t stack up. Why don’t the media push grassroots football as hard as they do women’s football. The standard is comparative. I’m fully convinced at any player of Hampshire premier football and above could walk into the women’s game and be the greatest player the game has ever seen, such is the standard.
-
In true BBC fashion, here they are massively over celebrating the most unimpressive things in the name of diversity and inclusion. “Beckham Esque” more like Dave down Green park on a Sunday. Perhaps they’re just surprised she managed to get the ball off the floor? Could you imagine this was proper football, ignoring a 2v1 in favour of a 59 yard shot resulting in you sticking the ball miles wide and over. Shambolic 😂

I think JWP and maybe KWP will go next summer and we’re effectively spending that money now. At the aggressive rate we are buying players, young with potential, we shouldn’t need to spend too much next summer. Maybe a player or 2. I would expect us to have a little clear out this summer, not to the level of what we’re spending but we’ll probably clear the wage book a little. Like you, I’m not sure of his value, but it’s not going to be £40m. I can’t see a club paying over £25m for him. He’s worth more to us than anyone is willing to pay, imo.
-
It’s yet to be seen how he fairs within the men’s game, which is a different kettle of fish to sweeping up all the best youngsters. If he’s as good with us as he seemingly has been at City, then I’m sure one of the big clubs will want him before long. At that point, it’ll probably be too late to keep him.
-
From what I’ve seen, he’s got links with the young lads at Chelsea. Certainly seems bang on the money nearly every time. Let’s hope he has some influence over them and starts to send them all our way, I wouldn’t mind us being Chelsea reserves, that’s for sure.
-
Looks a very different type of player to Broja…. More like competition for Adams rather than playing with him. Wouldn’t mind him and a loan (Broja / delap?) to compliment Adams and Armstrong… or is that just greedy.
-
I guess they just attract a different crowd, predominantly women and kids. That’s great for them as it’s their target audience, who’ll they’ll hopefully inspire to play the game…. It makes a horrible watch though.
