I’m not so sure, he has a bit of a reputation of missing ‘sitters’, this one being the worse. he’s certainly below par in front of goal and if he’s our main man up top, on his own, it’ll be a big problem for us.
-
No, clearly not. however, dog & duck striker wouldn’t have missed that chance.
-
I cba to sit and watch them all, but the first 2 are much harder. The ball come at them at pace, this looped onto Che’s head, we’ll arm. Harder to miss than score there and he done it.
-
Yes, correct, a new striker and we win 😊
-
I honestly don’t think I’ve seen an easier chance missed in my lifetime.
-
He’s a battering ram, that’s about it. Perfect in a 2, not clinical enough as a lone striker.
-
I’d happily wage a significant amount of money that no other PL striker, or player actually, would have missed that header from 2 yards.
-
He seemingly gets taken off about this time every game.. fitness issues? It seems odd when chasing the game As he’s easily our most creative player.
-
0 composure. I’d expect an U9 to score that.
-
And that is why the club wanted to replace Che. Not clinical enough to score enough goals to keep us up. Terrible miss, one of the worst, if not the worst, I’ve seen.
-
It mutually benefits both clubs/groups. We’ll never, ever, be able to compete with City, so they can send their best young players to a PL side To develop and then buy them back at probably below market rate in a few years. Also, it’s helping them with FFP allowing them to buy the big name stars. Sensible business plan from all involved and I’m absolutely fine with it.

Strange one. Given he was at Chelsea an hour or so up the road and not Newcastle, I’m not sure I buy the ‘homesick’ thoughts. He was probably still living down here. Maybe he just didn’t like the coaches or set up. anyhow, their loss is certainly our gain. Fair play for all involved for letting the lad return, seems morally the right thing to do.

Cheers. Some really interesting points, especially around Romeu’s move to Girona and them being under the city Group.

Is anyone able to post this, for non athletic subscribers?

It’s 100% true, heard it first hand from a first team player. In the main, the discontent was from those who ain’t really good enough for us anyway… since they’ve stopped playing, it’s been noticible.
-
I’m fairness I hadn’t been playing much attention to them and have since seen the reaction which mirrors what you’re saying… so yeah, fair point… slightly different situations I guess.
-
This feels like a perfect opportunity to offer someone like Redmond or Moi as a make weight. Both of whom would do very well in the Dutch league, imo.
-
Just to put into perspective about how bad losing 9-0 is….. How Ralph has survived 2 of these, I’ll never know.
-
MLG, is that you?
-
Broja and AMN on loan, with proper money being spent on an AM, would represent really, really good sensible business imo. Especially if we can get a option to buy in both of those loan deals. An additional CB would be the cherry on top, imo.
-
They were absolutely brilliant to be fair.
-
Much like Stephens, they’re an expensive transfer for a championship club. in fairness, you don’t often get many ‘established’ players in a PL squad dropping to the championship.
-
How we were playing at our best. Far too slow these days.
-
If this United (first 15 mins so far) turn up next week, they’ll carve us like a hot knife through butter
-
Imo, based on what I’ve seen over the past 3 or so years, he’s a much better finisher when he doesn’t have time to think about it. I.e the second one. He’s always had chances, but never had the composure or finishing ability to turn 8-10 goals into 15-20. That being said, his build up play is a million miles better than anyone else we have. If we’re relying on him to play as a lone striker and score enough goals for us to stay up, I think we’ll struggle. In a 2 he absolutely has to play based on current form. If we persist with a lone striker, I think we need to improve, if I’m honest.
