Agreed. We need a firefighter type at this moment in time. Someone who knows the league & possibly the league below - if we appoint long term. We need points, we need to start being defensively better so we’re not having to score 2 (or more) every game. If we can grind out clean sheets, (maybe head in sand) I think we have enough going forward to steal a game 1-0 on the counter. Over attacking managers like Bosz would be a disaster imo. Poch is a ridiculous suggestion, he’s clearly not going to come here regardless of how much money is thrown at him.

Personally, looking at realistic targets, I’d be going for Nuno. Knows the PL and Championship. Would make us more defensively sound. Plays a back 3, which the senior figures of the club are clearly set on.

The more I think about it, the more I think his position is untenable. I just cannot see a way back from sticking 4 first team players in the u23’s a day before a huge game where you get spanked 3-0. Especially as one of those 4 is fully fit and arguably our best CB. Then there is the throwing players, staff, fans under the bus. There’s simply no way back.

I also don’t agree with the way he handles criticism etc. However, I said a week or 2 ago, he’s a dead man walking, so he may as well had do it his way. Fuck the fans, fuck the players. Go out on your sword. if he’s being influenced by anyone to play a way in what he doesn’t agree with, then than needs to stop and fair play to him if he tells them to fuck off. This is it. Up until this season, whilst there were many bad performance under Ralph, we also had some good ones. We haven’t put 45 minutes together of good football under Jones. Surely there isn’t a single saints fan who believes Jones is the man for us? Even ducky has gone quiet.

Carrick seems a very reactionary appointment with no real plan, after a nothing more than handful of decent games in the championship. That’s not to say that he won’t go on to be a good manager, but there’s a lot of unknowns at the minute. Too many for my liking. Maybe worth the risk next season in the championship, not if we pull the trigger on Jones this season.

NJ has been given more time to build something than any manager who come in mid season has ever had. If you could see what his attempted tactics were, then you’d give him more sympathy. The issue is, we have no tactics, no style. Just kick and run shit. It’s championship football being played by a championship manager.

I don’t actually think they would love Lyanco though. He cant defend. His so called ‘aggression’ is simply him getting too tight and flying into tackles which result in people skipping past him 9 time out of 10. There’s half a player in there, under the right manager, but idiots like Jones, encouraging his brain dead defending, make him worse.

It’s complete madness that he’s not tried this. Especially when everything else he’s tried has gone to shit.
