The clause is in place for a reason, to cover the selling team. Why would they just disregard it? you're spouting nonsense. If it was just 'Swansea being dicks' then we'd have signed and announced him already - the fact we haven't goes to show that legally this is tricky ground.

Good fighter, injuries have prevented more fights but he's still young(ish). A few Southampton lads on the circuit at the minute. Lewie & Ryan Garner have the best chance at winning a title (Ryan was a fantastic amateur - like Lewie injuries have prevented him having enough pro fights to be in contention for a title at this stage), then you have Joe Pigford - main support on the Billiam-Smith show Saturday, but came up short suffering his first loss. All saints 'fans' and have followed the club home and away at various stages.

I would be interested to hear from Surman if in hindsight, he'd wished he had stayed at the club, given the success of Lallana, morgan etc. who flourished from dropping down a level and getting real opportunities. Appreciate financially it helped us out and we were in a slightly different situation, when we sold Surman. But from a pure footballing perspective.

Agreed. Genuinely, him dropping down to the championship for a season would be the best thing he could ever do for his career, imo. The only thing is, he'd need to drop down and have the desire to play at that level and prove himself. I don't think he's that sort of character, but we'll see! Alcaraz is a gem. One of the most exciting players we've had for a really long time. One of maybe 2 or 3 who actually deserve a move off the back of this season. Agreed he'd rip up the championship and seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

Can you let me know when your house is up for sale, please. Easy pickings as a seller with this mentality.

In theory its a sensible solution, but why would Swansea agree to that. If the clause is £2m for a PL club, which we still are technically, then we pay the £2m or wait until we're technically not. We'll agree in the middle in the next week or 2, without a doubt imo.
-
Unfortunately we've plenty of noddies that support this football club, as you'll probably find out next season. I think most sensible fans / posters on here can see that its a little bit of 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. You want X we want to pay Z and in a week or 2 and we'll agree Y. They're is no rush right now, the players aren't back for a few weeks and both sides know that. Standard negotiations when there is no time pressure at the minute. My concern is if we piss you guys off for haggling over peanuts now, will that impact the likelihood of you selling your best players to us in a months time...?

I'm not sure on the mechanics of how it works, but I would assume so. Its basically a subscription package through the EFL (maybe clubs in the EFL), which shows every league game. What that means is that it is easy to find 'alternative' streams, if you don't want to pay...

Lavia isn't playing in the championship. Especially not in a season where there is a euro's at the end of it. Its why JWP wont stay either.
-
So basically Grimes is JWP, without the free kicks… great.

Incredible irony when you’re getting angry over a light hearted joke about a video game, really…
-
At least we’ve routed out all of MLG’s burner accounts…
-
So you clearly post thousands of times on an internet forum and play computer games. Jheeze, there really is no hope for you.
-
sounds like you need to get a life then
-
a loan, with subsidised wages would make the most sense.
-
Not really. Anyone over the age of 18 that has the time to invest in a computer simulation game, clearly doesn't have much of a social life.
-
would be a really good appointment for them - knows the league and has done a decent job with the clubs hes been at in the league, knows Leeds.
-
got his priorities right then
-
He must have an idea of the players he does / doesn't want and I'd be amazed if he's not been briefed on the players that are / aren't leaving. Obviously we don't know what is going on behind closed doors, but i'd like to think he's working with the club to form a plan for the coming season and transfer window (talking with players, agents, etc.) Even if he's down here looking for places to live - it gives him / his family a month to settle into the area before the start of the season. I'm sure he's working behind the scenes, even if it hasn't been announced yet.

Its like choosing between Herpes and Chlamydia. You don't want either and if you're sensible in the way you approach things, both are avoidable.
-
I think they'll spend and I think they'll get a decent manager in. Wouldn't be surprised if they got Rodgers.
-
Brilliant - There is a whole EFL player (ifollow i think its called) which streams every single game from your club throughout the football league.

Preston, Blackburn and Rotherham are the new ones for me, although I'll certainly be doing a lot more than I did last season. Really looking forward to it, a lot of 'proper clubs' in there which will make for some great away days - Plymouth, Sheff Weds & a couple of trips to the north east (Stay in Newcastle) are the ones I'm specifically looking forward to. Tough league to call. The relegated sides (3 pretty big, former established PL sides) will have the money to be very strong. But there are sides like Millwall, blackburn, Sunderland, Middlesbrough who done well last season, so you'd expect to be up there and the likes of WBA & Norwich who underperformed last season and you'd expect to be stronger. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if we finish anywhere between 1st - 10th. Certainly wont piss the league. My gut says, Leicester (champions), Leeds and WBA to go up. Cardiff, Plymouth and Rotherham to drop, imo.

I think the appointment of Jones just reinforces the point that 'stats' should supplement scouting, not dictate it. Based on spreadsheets alone, Jones probably stood out as a solid candidate, despite his failure at Stoke, he came back to be Championship manager of the season and done a great job over performing with Luton. But anyone who watches football could tell you that it was a recipe for disaster. Whilst his luton side may have provided the 'metrics' we were looking for, it was clear that we didn't have the squad to replicate that. I know they're now a PL side, but in reality, they're a group of L1/L2 players who play at a tight non league style ground and play a non league style of football. Backs against the walls, winning first and second knock type stuff. We're starting to see more of these academic nerds, who seem to think they're some kind of football genius, because they have an interest in looking at opta stats. We've had a few idiots on here who were the same, who time and time again get proven to be fools - Adam Armstong being better than Broja and all that shite.
