I guess it's weighing up the value of promotion against what we'd get for him (then lose on a free). We'd probably only get back what we paid for him 10-15m and promotion would benefit us a lot more than that. I'm not his biggest fan, but think Che would do really well in the championship. Personally, i'd rather we kept him than go for someone unknown for similar sort of money.
-
Doyle, Bednerak, Stephens and Edwards would be a really solid core of CB's (and suited to playing out from the back).
-
Anyone else really underwhelmed at the prospect of signing Grimes. by all accounts he looks like a pound land version of JWP. Tidy, but backwards and sidewards passing. Might be an average player in the championship, but will he be ale to step up, should we go up.. If he had anything about him, he'd be linked with or playing in the PL by now, surely?
-
We'll have to take a big loss on him. Like we did Carillo. Useless lump of shit, the pair of them. The comparison between the 2 is staggering really - Hugely over paid, last minute panic buy for a manager who was clearly out of his depth and going to get the boot anyway. There's no point in keeping him around eating up a wage bill and a place in the squad.
-
Agreed. He's a terrible footballer. Djenepo is a prime example of the sort of player we need to move away from, rather than keep.
-
Handy player to keep around, championship experience which is also very useful - But I'd much prefer Alcaraz and even S Armstrong (in the 3 games he's fit a season) to start ahead of him.
-
He's been removed from our list of potential recruits the day we went down.
-
I suspect, if he is open to leave, there will definitely be other clubs in th ePL sniffing around. Brentford for example. If (big if) West Ham sign Alvarez and JWP, that would leave limited possibilities for him to get game time at WHU, though.
-
Leicester linked with Tom Cairney from Fulham... Would be a good move for us to make.
-
JWP their way, Flynn Downes our way then... Perfect!
-
Newcastle clearly can afford him, he's just not worth anything near £50m, to anyone other than us. Interestingly, Talksport are reporting that West Ham are in for Edson Alvarez at Ajax (DM), which may mean their interest in JWP cools... and also means that Flynn Downs may become available..
-
Very good player, ready for the step up. Would suit Martin's style as well. Will go on to be a PL CB in the future i'm sure. Would be a good move for all parties imo.

You'd argue that having a wider network of scouting, is probably more important when in the championship...
-
You're an admin on a fans football forum, where its discussing nothing but a bunch of mercenaries kicking a ball about... Probably not one who can take some kinda high-ground..

I haven't played much attention to the Juventus thing, but what was the issue here? Surely the value of the player is what the selling club deem them to be..?
-
I thought that, but what happens if it’s offside on VAR? Does the red still apply?
-
Fuck me, i've seen some thick as fuck things on this site, but this is well up there.

It doesn't mention fire sale at any point. Its titled "Southamptons summer window: Busy' Then summarises (mostly all of what we've previously seen) players likely to leave / interest elsewhere and players we might be interested in. It's a pretty fair article all be it nothing new.
-
I honestly think he's exactly that. Never looked like he had the composure to be a top flight forward. He's scored a few in the championship granted, but then so did Adam Armstrong. at £18-£20m it would be a no brainer for us to sell.
-
a front 4 of; Tella Alcaraz Sulemana Striker (Adams ideally although unrealistically) Is ridiculously strong in the championship.
-
In fairness, a lot need to go. We've a massively bloated squad, most of which are a load of shit. Just because of contract status alone, its obvious we'll lose 6-7, that's not factoring in the 2 or 3 decent players who people might want. I genuinely suspect that SR have expected this summer to be one of overhaul since the day they came in - I guess the only difference is now we'll need to look at different targets.
-
I wouldn't be too disappointed if they all went (other than notable exceptions of Alcaraz and Tino), with the expectation that JWP & Lavia will be off. These are players who have failed season upon season. Packed it in and bottled it every time the going got tough. I'm genuinely excited by the thought of a rebuild of practically the whole squad, although I do think it means that we wont go up this year as a result.
-
In fairness, it is probably lost in translation a bit.
-
yeah, reasonable shout tbh.

Hi Saint Rob, put yourself in the firing line, expect to get shot. Its nothing too personal, you're just a bit of a div. Regards, Middle Aged Man
