The Max Aarons link really excites me tbh. Probably the best replacemet for Tino / KWP we could hope for.. He's a PL player, for sure.
-
Looks like he plays in the deeper 'piviot' role. in which case, what would that mean for Smallbone? move further forwrd into the same role JWP was playing?
-
Everything we've missed the past 3/4 years. We need a core of 4 or 5 of them throughout the team!
-
yeah, leaving 4 & 6 free is slightly suspicious... would certainly indicate at least 1 'first choice' CB coming in. Although we still need to shift one of the current CB's before we can bring another in, imo.

Looks like this one is a goer, so may as well start a thread. Free agent after being released by Middlesbrough, spent last season on loan at Reading. Assuming he's come in to replace Willy, rather than compete with Baz. A real shame as felt like it was a good opportunity to replace / get competition for Baz and push McCarthy down to 3rd choice (a bloody expensive 3rd choice, but we simply cannot play him next season), but it looks like we've managed to find someone worse than the pair of them.. fantastic stuff. At some point I pray this club takes the GK position seriously.

That save was luck more than anything else. He done well to get across, but when you're throwing your body at the ball, you're getting lucky if it hits you. You might get 1 or 2 of those a season. I personally judge a keeper on the ones they should be saving, not the 'world class' ones they shouldn't. Baz doesn't save the simple one (to be honest, he hardly saves anything), which makes him a very, very poor keeper.
-
didn't Kelvin get hooked out after 10 or so games for Boruc? Realistically the same should have happened to Baz. It really wasn't hard to be better than Kelvin, but i'm not even sure Baz is / was. If the point you're trying to make here is that Baz will be fine for the championship, I again, disagree. Terrible goal keeper and will cost us vital points next season.. again.

I think it's nailed on to be Stephens, to be honest.
-
Not too sure if we're talking about the same player, but if so, this feels like a massive over exaggeration. Even if he had the ability to be 'one of the best', you've got to be on the pitch to be able to be that.. which ABK hardly ever was. He didn't have the heart for the fight in the PL, let alone the championship. Get rid.

A bit extreme. There's absolutely middle ground between not including a 40-50% sell on clause and no signing the player. Even if it means pay an extra few £m upfront but bring the % down.. we'd have benefitted in the long run.

Anyone stupid enough to sign up to this deserves to be ripped off. £45 to basically listen to the radio ffs. The good news is that the fact ganes are being shown internationally, if you can get yourself a chipped firestick with IPTV on it, and it'l cost you £60 a year with hundreds of other channels (Sky, BT, all PL games etc.) included... Thank you Southampton! Any idea why they haven't signed up to use iFollow, like every other single club have it seems?

If Chelsea's cut is anywhere as near as reported, then its terrible business from the previous regime.

Latest going round the CoT is that you used to have an account under the name; Chapel_End and Always_SFC...

Fairly certain that is exactly what Piroe is - Fairly certain he's played in a deeper / 10 role before as well.
-
Surely if anything Tripper will be moving to LB? He's played there loads for both club and country. But I have to disagree - Newcastle would be a great move for Tino. I can't see us getting £50m, unfortunately.
-
If he's genuinely not playing because of interest in him, then I hope the deal is close - Doesn't send out a great message that we're willing to keep x if we then aren't going to play them - weakens our hand. Also goes back to the point i've been making - We'd be better to compromise, move on and replace, if we're not going to play them... I do wonder how disruptive it will be for us leaving it so late to move so many on (and having to settle new players into a new system 5 or so games into a season.. Its messy).
-
Personally, I thought he was too slow & not great on the ball. Certainly wouldn't have suited our style. A kick and head type defender for me, but you're right, I think it was Jones who said he's trying to 'play too much football' rather than just worry about the basics.

Fs - looks like this waster will be coming back next year then. I cn't see OL wanting him when they get decent close up look of him.
-
Nothing like a bit of good old fashioned media leaks to put pressure on a player to try and force our hand
-
That's a shame

Nice use of the Bold functionality! CoT members are lead to believe that Neverton (hehe), will not be sued by any of the above clubs.
-
Great to see fellow CoT members using the new logo!

Walked away to the bank to fetch a few more quid... I reckon we'll get about £35 for him. £30 up front, £5 in achievable add-ons. Would be a fair deal all round, imo.
-
The athletic are reporting West Ham are considering a 'fresh offer' after the £30m offer was reject.... LOL

Prowsey needs to be careful with this deal - Sounds like the club (i.e senior figures) aren't too sold on him and this is being driven by Moyes. He could easily fall out of favour when Moyes is sacked come December and they get some extravagant European name in, who wants technical skill rather than 'a good engine'
