So you've gone from "theres no money" to "they probably wont spend" after a couple of links in the papers. Almost like you're talking our of your arse.
-
absolutely nothing wrong with that, btw. Its the model brighton have followed and its worked a treat for them. Get your replacement through the door a year or 2 before and give them time to bed in and adjust. 1 thing you can't critise SR of is spending money. They've spent relatively big money each window. The problem, is that the money they've spend hasn't been wise.
-
No. I was pretty clear in why I think hes better.
-
I mean, could that arguement not be made for the fact that is why Martin managed to get us promoted? I certainly think it is.
-
If you honestly watched that and think he playes the same as Martin, you're deluisional. Night and day in terms of attacking threat.
-
Carsely would be a huge improvement on Martin, imo. Probably wouldn't keep us up this season (I don't think anyone would) but would gve us a great chance to rebound next season and then stay up. He likes to 'play out from the back' and dominate teams, but he's much more pragmatic than Martin. Less addicited to 'retaining the ball' at all costs, plays with pace and directness outwide and we'd get inbehind teams a load more. Think the best of us up to the halfway line, with the missing peice when trying to actually score goals. In short, I think Carsely would be a great appointment who'd keep to the 'possession based' style we seemingly want to integrate within the club with a load more pragmatisim to actually help us win games. Would he want the job? Probably not.
-
imo, the only way survial is realistically achievable is doing what Forrest have done. Spent a load and gambled on the fact that better players would earn back the 4 points or whatever it was they were deducted due to FFP breaches.
-
I suspect Janny B would go, probably Aribo as well. I can't see anyone taking a punt on THB if im honest - he's not been consistent enough for warrent the £20+ we'd demand. I'd like to hope we could convince Dibbling for another year with us. But that's a really competative championship side tbh. Even players like Fraser and Charles are decent options at that level.
-
Mark Robins is surely worth a punt if we want to go down the championship route.
-
He's here to play football. We were probably the only club willing to guarentee a starting spot and willing to pay the money. If we stay up he stays in the PL. If he does exceptionally well he probably moves on. If we go down, he moves on anyway. Its a bit of a no brainer for him - We'll make a fairly heafty loss on him no doubt, but he wont be playing in the championship next season.
-
Simply put, a must win if we want to have any hope of staying up. The 5 after this are hidious. Will the Everton game by Martin some time or will a loss here mark the end with international break following...
-
I'm not sure - we're about to hit a run of hidous games, so a win against Wolves is really a must. Lose against wolves and by christmas it could (still probably will) look really ugly.

3 points better off than your hero xoxo

Both won the leauge fairly comfortably and didn't scrape through the play-off's. Kompany got the bayern job off the back of his playing career, more than his managerial one. Same is Maresca, had he not been Pep's assistant (or that weird bald fella, that was here at one point, who's now involved at Chels) he wouldn't have made the jump. In short, Martin has absolutely no pedigree in the game for anyone above us to take a punt, given how poorly this season has gone.
-
Wigan also won the FA cup then went down in recent years, thus playing european football in the championship.
-
Just continue playing Fraser and Manning or BBD who are clearly not up to the level then.
-
Jesus christ, comparing Jones to Emery is crazy.
-
Nothing is guarenteed. We could bring in a big name and they flop but alternatively we could go for an unknown and they hit the ground running. Poch is a great example of that latter, as is Mckenna at Ipswich. On the face of things, he was extreamly high risk and had nothing in his past to say he was an upgrade on Adkins. Some managers suits certain clubs despite maybe not being the best manager or name about. All I know is that I'm willing for us to risk it. If we carry on, I'm certain we wont make 10 points.
-
Well given its gonna a PL side, I'm not sure it matters. We're not beating them.
-
and yet still would be a significantly better option than Martin.
-
Intresting comment. Much like Pep at City, this ridged style really doesn't seem to suit traditional wingers who like to play on the shoulder and beat a man. Given the players we have, we simply have to become more direct and get the like of Archer, Sulemana, Cornet playing off the shoulder and running onto balls inbehind quicker.
-
He's hardly had any game time over the last year though. I think theres a player in there, we've seen that for Lyon and Burnely. I'd be tempted to give him a run of games and see if he can pick up a bit of form, he's certainly no worse than Fraser or Manning who've been played out there in recent weeks.
-
And Ipswich's is? we've got 1 point mate, thrown away leads against the 2 other promoted sides (at home). The players aren't cut out to succeed at this level - but playing a different way with a coach who knows how to make you hard to beat will give us a much better chance. We also only last night scrapped our way through against a side 19th in the championship.... and our only other win was a spunky one against a team who up until a few weeks ago were bottom of the champ.
-
what has he done in his career to justify his role at United? Absolutely nothing. So I'd agree, yes.
