Its a huge risk though. We know downes is a top, top player in the championship. He knows the leauge and the demands of it. The same as Adam Armstrong, Archer etc. Brining in some unknown from france, turkey or denmark is a massive risk. One which I think will cause us big problems.
-
Has to be a loan, surely? But on a more serious note... are the club in denial about where were heading? Seems like we're trying to shift anything that's not nailed down that will help us next season.
-
The problem is, he's ruffled feathers and is getting more out of those who are genuine PL players. Unfortunatley, he's pissing off those who'll be key to us coming back up next season (ironically those who aren't good enough for the PL).

Easily the worst take I've ever seen 😂
-
Of that I think we'll almost certainly lose THB and Stewart is a busted flush we cannot rely on. I suspect if hes any good, that Wellington will go out to Turkey on loan. This is the core of a decent championship side imo. Especially if you add Archer to the strikers list, I think we'll score more than enough. imo, we'd be a CM, number 10, GK, and probably a old head at CB short of having a really competitive side. At a worse case, GK: Bazunu / New DEF: Suga, Wood / Edwards, Bedernek / Stephens / new (leader), Manning MID: Downes, Charles AM: Arma, New 10, Edozie / Fraser 9: Archer Really doesn't look too bad to me. Lacks a bit of depth but isn't a million miles off (and we should have a decent kitty to spend). For me, the most important signing next season is the manager. I pray we stick it all on the line for Rohl.

I can't work out if this is a dig at him or not... But I think hes in general done a pretty decent job. The fan zone and Dell bar are a great idea in terms of increasing revenue for the club and despite how shite are are, SMS is full every week.
-
We had rothwell and brooks on loan from Bournemouth last season, so assuming no issue.
-
The owner is hardly going to come out and say "we didn't want to pay the money for X in January, Juric is a short term fix and wont be here in the summer". I'd be amazed if hes still here in the championship, however, I wouldn't mind him staying - given the right players I think he could be a really good, no thrills, manager for us.
-
Brighton have just recalled Rushworth from Hull. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up there.. But than again, Selles will know how awful he is as a keeper.
-
I couldn't disagree anymore. He's clearly incredibly talented, especially at carrying the ball. However, he's incredibly one (left) footed and has very little output - His decision making is pretty poor. I think a season in the championship would be unbelievable for his career.
-
I do think, playing centrally in one of those forward roles off the shoulder is what suits him best though (as it does with Armstorng, Archer, BBD etc.) I don't think he has the technical skill to play on the wing as gets too isolated and when dropping deep to collect the ball doesn't have the skill to beat a man or 2.
-
Depends on how highly they rate that Wellington, but hes injured currently, manning is our only natural left footed wingback, so I'd say no deal. Playing KWP there limits our width down the left. He either plays on the right or not at all for me.

2-0 united
-
They looked absolutely spent towards the end of the Arsenal game. Probably the best chance of going to united and getting something we'll have in a very long time. The same formation as played yesterday, which imo, is the one that is best suited to our squad. 2 quick runners up top playing on the shoulder, with Fernandes behind them in the 10. Toss up between Suluemana, Archer & dibbling imo, although I think that role would also suit AA and dare I say it BBD. Ramsdale KWP Bree or Charlie Taylor? Bednerak THB Manning Les Downes (if fit) Fernandes Archer Sulemana
-
I don't see any way he comes back in. Unless Downes' injury is more serious than previously let on (wasn't it claimed to be a dead leg?). With Les getting more game time and strating to show the promise we expected to see from him, Downes to come back and Airbo (dare i say even Smallbone) we have plenty of cover in CM. Let him see his time out there and come back next season as a vitial part of our midfield next to Downes.
-
Sounds like you should be in the running for the job with your incredible insight
-
He'll come in handy next season to be fair. But it was obvious that he wasn't good enough for this level.
-
My gut says we might go back in for Rohl in the summer. Which if that is the plan (its nothing more than something in my head at the minute), it would make loads of sense to keep him there. Charles isn't going to help our season. Bring him back next season on a high rather than with a load of "scar tissue".
-
I actually think Stewart would have been brilliant (especially last season). He seems to have all the attributes to be a decent number 9. I guess you cant odds unexpected injuries, but big, big questions need to be asked of the medical team and who signed the deal off.
-
I thought he'd end up at Palace when I saw how shite there RB is the other day. Wherever he goes, it'll be with blessing. He always given 100% for us.
-
I actually forgot he was one of our players... Lego wasn't playing him last season, there was no way he was sticking around this year to get no minutes. I think Edozie will break through next season in the champ under a new manager.
-
I don't think that anyone is saying hoof ball is what we want or expect to see moving forward. Its finding a balance of sensibly clearing the danger and playing out building a phase of attack. Something Martin was unable to do after 18 months. Put it this way, sticking the ball into the stands or their half, wont directly result in 11 goals over the course of the next 18 games.
-
Oh, Martin also fell out with Whittaker whilst at Swansea. Whittaker went on to be one of the best strikers in the leauge last season.
-
I mean he considered Alcaraz not good enough for us to build a side around and sent him on loan to Juve, whilst we were in the championship ffs. Martin like lap dogs who'll sit and nod to his shit philosphy.
