Like Jose, a good manager 10/15 years ago doesn’t make them a good manager today. Rafa is past it now, I think.
-
Do you acknowledge he done a good job then? The comparison was with relegation, not their history. Both took a side down.
-
Weird take. Especially considering your love for Rafa who also got relegated recently. Do you not think that Howe done a good job at bournemouth, by getting them from the bottom of L2 to a regular premier league team?
-
I’m not sure what your point is here, but personally I wouldn’t pick someone on free kick ability alone. No one has said Diallo is a better player. If he makes us better as a team is up for debate though.
-
Still digging. A simple yes or no would do.
-
Still digging. Stop trying to deflect the fact you’ve been called out by making things up again. As for an ‘acclaimed champions league winner’, that was over 15 years ago. And I get that despite the 30+m he’s spent this window, they had limit resources to improve in the summer. But this is still pretty much the same side that finished 10th last Season. so again, do you think, with 1 win in 13, Rafa is still doing a good job at Everton?
-
Far better job…. He joined mid season and took them down… Anyhow, I don’t suspect he’ll be on the market as he’s doing a good job, right?
-
Perhaps Newcastle will snap up Rafa once he’s sacked from Everton for doing such a great job.
-
Is there or has there been a better free kick taker in world football? I’m not sure there is, every single one is on the money. Almost as good as a penalty to us. Beckham is the only one who comes close, but to be honest, I think JWP is better than him. todays was a complete joke.
-
Overrated by everyone but you… you’re far to smart to be tricked by his sliky skills.
-
Do you think Nathan Redmond is better?
-
How often do you watch him? Or are you making your opinion on ‘stats’ and a poor game against us?
-
To be honest the only person I’ve seen slagging Him off is TWar. He’s a top, top player.
-
Someone actually said Redmond was a better player than Buendia the other day LMFAO
-
More of a reflection of how poor the other 3 are. I think they’ll have enough to stay up and likely will bring in a player or 2 at the back. Done and dusted may be a bit far, but I can’t see anyone, other than the bottom 4, being dragged in.
-
Agreed.
-
Really bad result for them and I think any players looking to move there might now have a different opinion and hold off until the summer. I still think they’ll stay up, just. That’s more down to how poor Watford are more than anything though.
-
I hope they do. He’s doing a good job there…😬
-
Wolves are a very good side, there’s no shame in losing to them. We put in an alright performance just show our vulnerabilities at the back. Could have done with a point given give the next 3 fixtures (possibly 4 if Everton sack Rafa).
-
Are you okay? Do I need to explain again that it may have been my memory failing me and if so, I’ll hold my hands up…. For the benefit of the thread, don’t respond.

Potter is a ‘hipster’ name at the moment. He’s a good manager and will go on to achieve big things, imo, but he’s not there yet. Needs to step up and prove himself at a Bigger club than Brighton (Everton, Newcastle, Leicester etc.) but not at the elite level, such as United. To be honest, i think Poch or Ten Hag are nailed on to be the only candidates for United. Otherwise, why wouldn’t they have tried to attract Potter when they booted off Ole?
-
He’s a really, really good player. Add something to our midfield we don’t have in ability to drive with the ball and get us up the pitch. He also seems to have good energy about him. He’s youngish and newish to the league, so clearly isn’t the finished article, but I think he’ll develop in to a top player for us. Should someone like villa or Newcastle, put in a silly offer for JWP in the summer that we feel we can’t turn down, I’d be more comfortable with Diallo stepping in. The key man for us not to lose is Romeu. I think JWP and Diallo can both play next to him but neither can play without him (I.e together, as was shown when he was out injured last season. I think they’re both a little lightweight together). Although, as it stands, I like the Dynamics of Romeu, Diallo, JWP in a midfield 3, I think they all offer different qualities that complement each other.

Huge game at the bottom today which, I think, will define how the table looks at the end of the season and probably next season as well. If Newcastle fail to beat Watford, I can see that putting a real dent in their ability to attract any real statement signings this window. If they do, they‘ll be level on points with Watford (17th) and imo almost certain to stay up.

Aye? When have I said “he was good under Hughes”? I specifically said in that post “not spectacular” and in a earlier post “not that I ever rated him anyway”. If you’re going to try and insult someone buy claiming “you make up opinions based on nothing”, I’d try not to completely make things up yourself. But for clarity, there was a period of time, between 2018-2019 where I though he was at a standard of being okay, solid enough as a PL CB for a team battling relegation, but someone we could improve on. Since then, I think he’s gotten worse and Stephens is arguably now a better option than him. As for the San Marino thing, it’s boring mate and again, made up. At no point did anyone claim the San Marino manager was better, it’s was pointing out that he was able to set a team of part time plumbers up in a defensive shape to not get hammered 9-0 (this a year or 2 ago and before England stuck 10 past them), which Ralph wasn’t with full time professionals. Clearly, Ralph is a better manager than him overall. The trouble is, in order for you to get 1 up, you need to take things out of context and/or make it up. Whereas your mishaps are on display for all. Play the post not the poster as it seems you’re heads gone after being shown up to look a complete fool over your assessment of Broja.

It’s actually not a ‘anti Ralph agenda’. I provide praise and criticism where I see fit, it just so happens that over the past year that has been very little to praise Ralph for. As it happens, I like him (Ralph) just didn’t (past tense, this season is a vast improvement, credit where it’s due) like his stubbornness and reluctance to move away from his preferred 4222 (shite imo) formation and at times, bordering bonkers subs. However, this isn’t a Ralph thread so I’ll leave it there. It potentially could be my memory failing me, but I thought he (Bednerak) broke into the side as a regular towards the back end of Hughes reign and then continued under Ralph where he was not spectacular, but solid enough and clearly an upgrade on Stephens. I’m not sure that’s still the case. Until the start of 2020 where he completely fell off a cliff. If that’s wrong, regarding breaking into the side under Hughes, I’ll hold my hands up but point stands, he’s not improved and has gotten worse over the past year.
