  1. my coverage just showed VAR agreeing Bedders did everything possible to get out of the way of the shot, for his goal and we concede again. didn't even manage to mention the comeback being on. dreadful.
  2. I like goals! Hang on....have we been the ones scoring them?
  3. Just back. Should I be tuning in?
  4. Players returning from injuries may be considered fully fit to play. However, due to the nature of the injury are simply not able to do the same things as they used to. Losing that hard of pace is a well worn example. A player fit to return in non league games may be fit to start. Championship game. However, the outcome may be very different due to the injuries suffered, and the amount of ability required at each level. Stewart being fit for one level, and perform well at it, does not mean the same would apply at Championship level. And please reconsider phrases such as"your thinking is flawed." The board is full of examples of you running off to hide when your own arguments are flawed. Normally, that's just part of discussions and banter. But making condescending remarks prevents that from happening.
  5. I see that Weston already answered with employee. Above and beyond the base contracts, there will be the player's Nivea commercials or whatever. That could be paid/routed to a player's own company, registered in your nearest tax haven, as the player isn't representing the club. Things like image rights etc, when they are representing the club would be something different again. Unless drawn up separately, probably part of the employee contract too for tax purposes? There will be medical insurance and the club will have made a claim. The insurers will be all over it, due to player's injury record/ signed if not fully fit. Assessors worth their salt will also mine through any left field Rasmus comments to see if he mentions signing players who have iffy fitness records, but who could come good. The club's insurance risk/ payments would be impacted.
  6. If you read Lighthouse's response to Mboto's post, mine was really a follow up to that. Note also the fun at Russball's expense. Not for me to say it was my usual comedy gold, but I can direct you to Trousers' comedy laugh emoji of quality. 🙂(Being trousers, there is a chance he's hedging his bets on whether it was funny or not. 🙂)
  7. Comedy Answer: Depends on how close the treatment room is to training. Serious Answer: As an employee of the club, we have a duty of care to provide all reasonable options to aid recovery. As an employer of players in the future, it's not just duty of care, or wanting to do the right thing, but will also shows the support we would give any player who becomes injured. Within the recovery process, there may be difficult discussions should recovery, and to expected levels, become very unlikely. The club will be very careful around such issues, as you'd expect from any employer. Occasionally, it comes from the player or through medical advice.
  8. We should draw a line under it. And remember that a line that starts horizontally, before going on a number of short, meaningless vertical detours, is still a line. 🙂
  9. We did get some late winners. (Side discussions are available as to why we had to leave it so late, despite having easily one of the best squads in the league 🙂) My point wasn't that we ended every game on 60 minutes because they'd been smoking 40 a day on the training ground. Some players are fitter than others. Some games take more out of a team than others. Sometimes, there's a lot of fixtures and returning from injury. Sometimes, some individual talent at a lower level gets the points. But on a more than one occasion, we were the side that wore ourselves out playing a lot of sideways passing. I remember saying that Martin's controlled approach should often be able to allow us to manage our energy and make the most of it at key points in the game. Just for us to promptly wheeze, give away some sloppy space and passes, then concede. It would cross my mind on some days our possession game struggled and that Martin's approach never really clicked to the extent we challenged for automatic places, and faded away. There were plenty of other reasons for that. But I was surprised in the games we faded in, when we looked tired, having not had to do as much (thanks to Martin's control approach) as our opponents.
  10. Is now a bad time to mention my surprise last season, when having most of the possession and our opponents having to exert themselves a lot more, we were the side that ran out of puff on more than one occasion?
  11. I hadn't noticed we had defenders under Martin. 🙂
  12. The whole team learned to pass out under pressure, and looked much more confident in autonomic passing moves. Given the number of them that happened over the inevitable clangers. In RussBall, Baz became an important base for defensive passing moves. Smallbone progressed in every part of his game. KWP was given a lot of licence to pick up other forward roles. AA recovered his form. Downes became a key player. All this was in the Championship, and none of it transferred back to the PL. But, those were some improvements on what came down last time.
  13. It sounds as though one of the clubs has to buy him, when they go up and the other goes down. Hopefully, we go up in 2025/26, but must already budget for picking up BBD if/when United go the other way.🙂
  14. Very highly thought of before coming to us. A good move for him and B'Mouth as he got back to fitness. And showed bits of that talent with us too. The form sort of went with the season and style we had. It was a clinical, controlled system. So, some of the individual skills wouldn't be seen as much. While his general team based skills would have been there, but not stand out as much. Fraser made a very good first impact, and faded a bit into the system (with pros and cons) as well. But Fraser seemed to always be the more likely to move with the Newcastle situation.
  15. Looked very rusty in his first appearance. But 1) Not unexpected after time out 2) He looked annoyed about it too, which I took as a good sign 3) not uncommon for rusty players to get that sharpness back and 4) we needed all the attacking help we could get. But not worked out for anyone. At least it's been ended giving everyone a chance to move on. A decent move for Cornet.
  16. According to @Over land and sea's excellent contracts thread, Charles is Under-21 for the season.
  17. I'm just reading in the background here, but lots of good points raised. Thanks.
  18. Care to guess a year? 🙂
  19. Just the guy to get us out of a pickle.
  20. I don't see why he should get to enjoy a season, when the rest of us aren't. 🙂 The last game I recall him having under Martin's system was tidy if not pressured. Hopefully, he'll make a difference in a midfield crying out for help under Juric.
  21. Brave Lemina ran away, Bravely ran away, away. When. relegation reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled. Yes, brave Lemina turned about And gallantly, he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet, He beat a very brave retreat, Bravest of the brave, Lemina
  22. Meanwhile, on another train, her ex is shouting down a phone at his therapist "Not seen her for 20 years. She looks the same, but older and just as intolerable."
  23. No one has a steadier pair of hands than Buffon. Sorry.🙂
  24. I remember posting about narcissistic injury back in 2021, and I got pelters for it. 🙂
