Incredible that we only lost by one goal. They should have thrashed us. Different class. A lucky game for the underdogs.

Janny B is going to the Euros. Good for Saints defence confidence for the rest of the season.

If a sub scores 2 winning goals that doesn’t necessarily prove that he is a good footballer, or that the manager knows what he’s doing. We could win the league and get relegated next season.

Martin looked close to tears when asked about Smallbone in the post match interview. Maybe he cares as much as all of you.

I quite like Martin but for those of you who don’t, maybe we could replace him with Maresca. With that defeat at home to QPR, apparently he’s lost the dressing room.

FA cup, Russ says it’s the best cup competition in the world. A cliche but maybe it is for us Brits. I started supporting Saints as an armchair and then student supporter, back in the 1970s. The challenge is to play the reserves supplemented as needed by first team players. The magic combination and the desire to win. Come on, let’s go for it.

Martin rotated the squad. Gave the reserve team players a chance to prove themselves. Unfortunately Edozie, Mara and Charles aren’t up to it at the moment.

Just watched the post match interviews. Both Fraser and Martin said how well Downes played. Maybe a replacement for JWP without the free kicks.

In his post match interview Downes sounded rather puzzled by the booing. He needs to toughen up and get used to running the gauntlet at Sr Mary’s.

The players look like strangers. They need to play together more. Maybe the international break didn’t help. Lots of games will be good I think.

Were Harwood-Bellis and Charles better than Bednarek and Stephens? I’m not so sure.

Work in progress. Better than 9-0 and 5-0. Leicester look like a Premier League team. Saints don’t.

Glad to see some positivity about Bazunu. I was beginning to despair of him ever keeping a clean sheet or safely stopping shots. Hopefully his head is in the right place. I see he played for Ireland against France and only conceded 2 goals.

it won’t be popular in some quarters, but I reckon Martin might start McCarthy in goal.

Can’t blame Jack Stephens this time. This is yet another crunch moment to see how good the game analysers and new staff at the club are. Like Jones last season after the World Cup break, we will be watching with interest to see what changes they make to put in a decent performance against Leicester. Surely they can see that the goalkeeper needs help. I don’t know what kind of help, by the way. I’m not an expert, like they are. Hard to keep the faith at this point. Maybe Sunderland will win the league by a country mile and put this defeat into perspective.

Harry Reed is a good FF differential player this week. Maybe we should have kept him at Saints.

Something that never gets mentioned was his defensive heading ability. For such a small guy, I was amazed how many times he headed the ball out from opposition corners.
