Yes mate, I should think the choice of substituions are near enough entirely down to RM, but I dont thing that decision solely cost us the game. IMO replacing them with Edozie Alcaraz & Fraser should have left us with enough to get the Job done against 23rd place Rotherham. Not to mention those players who were subbed hadn't scored in the previous 60 minutes & we were stuggling to break the opposition down after they changed formation, I don't blame him for switching it up - but hindsight is a wonderful thing. No doubt Edozie was sub par today for sure but I've been a fan of his work so far this season & Sulemana's work rate had definitely dropped off prior to his substitution. Personally I wouldnt have taken Arma off but the fitness levels of Kamaldeen and Stuey are apparently still touch and go atm. The reason we lost today was missed chances & a solid performance from their GK - We had 10 shots on target

Saints were unlucky here. This was nothing down to RM, we didnt take some great chances - we created a TON We weren't helped by their keeper pulling of a plethora of top saves to keep it at 1-0. Che Adams' finishing is still leaving a lot to be desired even in the championship, but we honestly played well today.

Hopefully we’re pleasantly surprised with Charles’ performance. Surely by size alone he can’t be more of a lightweight than Smallbone!

I’ll take all the help we can get at this point

Suggests theres a player in there somewhere... I wonder if we'll ever get to see him

He left Everton to join us as competetion for 1st team LB & has been far off the mark. If he still ends up in the B team even in a championship club something has gone very wrong. Wasnt there even talk of Everton wanting 5 mil in compensation for him at the time of his signing? Not sure how that panned out eventually.

He made the bench for Chelsea against Bayern in the CL and also captained England at various youth levels. Story at the time was he rejected a new contract at Chelsea to move to Saints specifically under the guise of a fast track to men's football (as was the case with Tino) Different level completely but also Tranmere fans were raving about him during his loan spell there last season, but still doesnt seem to be in RM's plans as of yet with Lyanco and even Charles ahead of him in the pecking order at CB.

I wonder if we'll see anything of these two this season. Simeu was captian of the chelsea youth squad that produced Tino, always suprised me how differently their respective careers have panned out since joining.

Some of the youngsters looking good. Most of our possession is ending back with the CB’s who are then coming under pressure and conceding the ball. Benfica are a very good CL team but we are MILES away. Just the beginning but much work to do!

He is on PL wages and will be for the next 4 years of his current contract. Prowsey, I say give us till Jan and see where we are; arguably we will be able to sell for a higher price with the added premium that window brings & *IF* we’re storming the league at that point maybe he’ll decide to stick it out and get us back to the PL

Today made me realise how much of an upgrade Alcaraz is on Moi. I like Moi’s work rate and he knows he’s obviously versatile but his quality just isn’t premier league. I’ve never thought he’s quite been good enough to play for us and hopefully Alcaraz can stay fit and keep him out of the team. Alcaraz today played in that role that Jwp was playing in in those couple of good games under Jones - very nice 👍

It’s a strange one to say the least, the only logical explanation would be that he’s not up to full fitness; Although Perraud, who actually had a good game, started & he was clearly not fully fit.
