GiveMeSport claiming we wanted JWP. Presumably the change of plan on goalkeeper (Ramsdale not Nijlow, Purchase not Loan) meant there wasn't enough money for two high earners?

Are we worried Palace would try to sign Bednarek?
-
Maybe Arsenal wouldn't sell to a rival?

Bearing in mind our position in the PL hierarchy who is likely to have more touches this season - our Goalkeeper or our Striker? If he can find his 22-23 season form this will be massive for us plus: We won't need to worry about his wandering attention span because a) We'll probably still be playing risky 6 yard box passes to him every 3 minutes b) Bearing in mind the standard of the league he's likely to be busier than a one legged man at an arse kicking competition as it is COYH

Posted at 12:38. Bearing in mind it probably took them half an hour to get the lighting for the Hagrid pic right I'd say we would have signed on before 12:00 ๐ ๐

Maybe you are confusing FarehamSaintJames with Sir Farquhar StJohn?!

Love this ๐

But assuming we stay up. We'd need to have persuaded him to sign a 4 or 5 year contract, because he would need at least two years away on loan before he'd be good enough for the PL surely. Bearing in mind our lack of success with junior contracts recently that seemed unlikely- was always likely to be tempted away by a big money Jimmy Jay Morgan style deal by a PL big fish.

Spine of the team: Aaron Ramsdale Flynn Downes Mateus Fernandes Ivan Toney Looks good to me ๐

More likely to be a genuine deal I would think. Unless we are signing Toney ๐

But wouldn't it be great if he came back, and could repeat the form he showed in those games for Sunderland in the Championship. A classic "like a new signing"

Bednarek only has 10 months on his contract. Despite RM assuring us heโs not worried there is the chance that Benarek is off in Jan (or today?!) Having ABK up your sleeve give Saints better room to negotiate Janโs contract and survive if he departs.

After he was mentioned favourably by Carsley at the England squad announcement I'm thinking the same. "We are Southampton. We can't have nice thingsโ โข

08:30 press conference at Saints. May not be announced then of course

Reading an article this morning I was reminded that Sulemana & Onuachu were both deadline day signings in Jan 2023. If I remember rightly they both came completely out of the blue. Not saying it will happen, but SR have form for it. Of course in an ideal world weโd prefer any deal to add more on the pitch than these did. Am also a bit concerned that Arsenal wonโt get their player, and so wonโt sanction Ramsdale to leave.

So we'd have Lumley as our only available option if Ramsdale got crocked...

That's not me saying he should go. I'd love for him to stay. But he's gone from being SAA's best bud and making appearances, to being well down the pecking order with a <12 month contract.
