Does he live in a castle, with a girlfriend called Ingrid?
  2. Yes indeed if Sheff Utd walked through it, dread to think what the Chelsea second string might do? Forster best be ready for anything.
  3. Also what everybody seems to forget is that Ralph's wife had just been cleared after failing a COVID test, a period during which he continued to work remotely. So given that context I suspect most of us might have shed a few tears, including Lord D, although I suspect he is a Pony bot so maybe not?
  4. Interesting I guess a few went on to play some more European games, guess Van Dijk the most, closely followed by Tadic, then Davis and Forster a little while on loan?
  5. Plus guaranteed bonus when they let you go at the end of the season, after 12 months or any point before end of agreed contract.
  6. We have several "affordable gems' unfortunately two are at right back Tino and KWP, will be interesting to see how this gets resolved. Then both Salisu and Diallo are heading in that direction. Problem is they are all on the defensive side. In attack Lets hope for a breakout season for Tella and Broja, though I doubt the later will be in the affordable gem category (for Saints at least).
  7. Just looked it up and that has to be a six figure minimum investment by Leeds to get him back to the UK on an exec jet from South America. Lot of money to spend if they do not expect him to feature in the game. Well I guess split with the other clubs involved but even then a pretty large investment for someone who is not played. Update other players are with Chelsea and Man City so Leeds probably didn't have to spend a penny!
  8. Both likely to be nominees for a Herman Cain award "Nominees have made public declaration of their anti-mask, anti-vax, or Covid-hoax views, followed by admission to hospital for Covid. The Award is granted upon the nominee's release from their Earthly shackles."
  9. As I understood it VAR was only for "clear and obvious errors", has that mandate changed? Because truthfully there was no clear and obvious error in the initial yellow card and Mike Dean as the VAR overstepped, on that basis I think Saints should appeal it and point out all the previous incidents with Mike Dean. Sure in slow-motion at the side of the pitch in an emotional atmosphere, yes I can see why the on-pitch referee gave a red but it shouldn't have come to that point in the first place. The PL has to make its mind up, is VAR allowed to second judge all on-pitch referee calls in slow motion or only the "clear and obvious", and define what that means. Sure if the on-pitch referee cannot see something, or the action is too fast and or can be objectively measured (goal line, maybe offside) then sure, but when the referee has a clear view and makes a call in real-time, then no, forget it.
  10. Thank you for posting that it was a good watch. Was Schneiderlin doing a paper round before the games in those days? Certainly looked young enough. Now I see why all the fuss about Guly here, he redefines effective and efficient stroller. Lambert yep had some great qualities. But most dramatic of all who knew Sean Dyce had managed another team south of Burnley? Colour me shocked. Plus yeah Lallana has always had great vision, sad how it ended with him and Saints, but he is still doing it for Brighton at an even slower pace in the PL!
  11. Just out of interest is this the team you would pick or the one you think Ralph will pick?

    Stu Armstrong

Yes if Stuart Armstrong starts against Chelsea will be extremely interesting to know what brought about a seemingly miraculous unexpected recovery. Was he unable or unwilling to play or was Ralph not willing to select him, the plot certainly seems to be thickening.
  13. You haven't got Shane Long's stats in there, does he not score goals? What a great question, now I get it Ralph is playing Moneyball and brought Shane Long on in the near certainty that he would turn the game around based upon this excellent analysis from a highly trusted source! Per WIkipedia Long P185 G27 14.6% What does this prove? Ralph should play Adams, Armstrong and Long, given an infinite amount of games one of them will win a game with a hat-trick, one will score the fastest hat-trick ever and the other will out score Ronaldo, difficult to know which one will do which though!
  14. Or graphically for the first 75% of his tenure Ralph was; In the last 25%
  15. Sure. If you look at points earned on average per game, Hasenhüttl is our third best manager since Saints have been back in the PL. If you look at Hasenhüttl's overall record and split it into equal quarters which gives approximately the same number of games as the previous three incumbents, for 3/4 of the time he has been in charge he has exceeded all three, in his last quarter he is worse than all except Hughes. Which mostly tells us how bad Hughes was. Net net when things are looking really bad always remember how bad they were when Mark Hughes was in charge! Maybe there is a small lesson from this in that a rapidly chosen crisis replacement may actually make things worse, impossible as that seemed when Pellegrino was in charge.
  16. Posters who defend Nathan Redmond are in the "Not even wrong" category, we will never know if his PL career stalled out because too many mangers gave him incorrect playing instructions and coaching, or he doesn't have the skills and talent to make it at the PL level? Either way it would probably be best if himself and the club look for a way of pulling him out of this before his confidence is completely and permanently shot. Think Ralph H maybe of the same opinion, seems to have experimented with him in all kinds of roles in the team, none of which have really worked, he seems resigned to have him in the team, his tracking back and tackling are not as bad as other parts of his game and he has few other better options. So here are my suggestions; Keep him out of the PL team, let him rip-up lower league teams in the Cup, them send him on loan at Xmas for a roll of the dice and hope he comes back with his confidence rebuilt. Buy him the Ronaldo DVD set and tell him to follow the instructions on how to build a career with confidence. Engage Andros Townsend's mum to compile a Redmond DVD (wouldn't take that long for sure). Any other proactive suggestions for unlocking his talent?
  17. Thought when Koeman ran the rule over them and said they were not good enough for the PL he was overly harsh, maybe in hind sight he was a pretty good judge?
  18. Report: Liverpool actually considered signing £50m England international midfielder this summer
  19. We are doomed, doomed I tell ye.
  20. Think the 'they' in this case should be replaced with Jose M, who of course has a really strong track record for judging talent! He had similar doubts over Luke Shaw. We should have a poll over the greatest talent let go from a club when he was manager! Or maybe Saints scouts should start reviewing lists of players who left the clubs he managed and are currently available.
