"Here's the thing" .....I didn't say we were. Read my post a few posts up.

Nothing shocking really. It's up to him as an owner to assess affordability of the penalty. It's one thing to do it knowing you couldn't afford the penalty and another thing doing it knowing you can.
-
I would like us to win the cup but wouldn't lose a moment's sleep over it if we didn't because I haven't arbitrarily expected us to win it. I'd be a lot more fucked off if we were relegated than getting knocked out of the cup.
-
If reports are to be believed we lost the best part of £100M quid last year, if we got relegated we would be absolutely fucked with a bullet. In any case, the chances of us getting relegated this year is pretty damn near zero unless one of Newcastle or Fulham pull off top 3 form and we didn't win another match. Imo.

It was one thing after another from the outside looking in. But they obviously had the money. Gao wouldn't have got through if he tried to buy us tomorrow. He wouldn't get anywhere near. It would get blocked outright. It looked to me the only way Gao got through was basically Liebherr leaving her foot in and vouching for him.

I like Morris, he's no mug. He's a proper businessman. But he should have done what Mike Ashley did and charged a non-refundable fee to get access to the books whether they proceed or not. It was supposedly £2M quid. What that does is pretty much guarantees whoever pays that is serious and has enough wealth that £2m isn't a problem. The issue with the Newcastle sale wasn't money, as in lack of it, the EFL just couldn't see in a satisfactory manner where the money came from. Charging a fee to see the books guarantees quality candidates and avoids being fucked around by fantasists or similar. We should implement similar. I know clubs implement 'exclusivity periods' where criteria has to met in order to enter into exclusive negotiations, but even then no actual tangible money is on the line, when people's actual money is on the line (regardless of wealth) the dynamics change completely.

Like I say, he's fascinating to follow on Twitter for takeovers and usually dead on the money.
-
I'm not anyone with any 'inside knowledge' but I do follow takeovers. A great person to follow is Alan Nixon on Twitter, the Bolton Takeover was an absolute farce and Wigan are a mess. Both of those were administration takeovers. Usually it depends who the buyer is and satisfying the EFL / PL. If I just throw a name out there as a pure example, say someone like Michael Dell was interested it would just be a case of "oh yes, he's the guy who owns Dell". The PL don't need to dig that far into it, he's a known commodity. Right, have you got funds? Yes. Could you fund the club under your own steam for 2 years? Yes Prove it.. Ok here you go. In that scenario as long as we're straight and upfront about any debt, debtors and liabilities it should be straight forward. Newcastle was a circus because the Saudis buying them had a network of companies buried underneath other companies and the EFL / PL couldn't see where the money was coming from. Or the Gao's of this world where nobody has the first fucking clue who the guy was and Liebherr had to basically underwrite the whole thing and leave 20% in just so he could satisfy the PL he could buy the club. Once we know exactly who is behind the takeover and there is real INTENT, if it took longer than 6 weeks then things could start getting messy. People will say what they will about Alan Nixon but he's a superb person to follow on Twitter where takeovers are concerned.

Well I hope it isn't Kenyon. He's the first one I thought of as soon as he said it. Kenyon isn't the right man purely because he's absolutely desperate for a club, any club. He's been involved in some sort of consortium for every football club above League one that's been for sale in recent history, the bloke was even in for Bolton ffs. And he's never been a serious contender for any of them. He just wants a 'club'. Not specifically Saints. I want an owner with at least a bit more than a passing interest in us, just to able to say "hey everyone I'm back at a club", I like Jordan and would love him involved with us, but if he's coming in with Kenyon he can fuck off.
-
We aren't getting relegated because that would mean getting literally zero points from our remaining games which would mean we get beaten by WBA and we're not losing or drawing that. I reckon we'll beat Burnley aswell. That's at minimum 3 points giving us 36 and Fulham's run in is absolutely fucking dreadful, but I think they'll stay up and Newcastle will drop.
-
He wouldn't have got to the Leicester 9-0. Our form up to that point was absolute fucking dogshit. He definitely wouldn't have survived Leeds United away. Cortese also needs a billionaire owner with a blank cheque book to function. So there's that.

Says the Chapel Stand hanky waver....

This should have quoted properly. Simon Jordan did not come off to me like he'd just read it off companies House before he came on air. And he's hardly going to attach himself (alluding to his involvement) in the manner he did if it was all a load of bollocks live on air, he's also well connected enough with enough social clout to either go straight to an insider or would have access to someone who does know it. I'd have no issue with Jordan being involved and I'm interested to know who's money is behind it...
-
Who's the "Former PL Chief Executive" that other bloke was going on about who is "Very Keen" to take the reigns? Do not tell me fucking Kenyon? ffs god no. And Jordan just said £200M would buy the club outright, INCLUDING Liebherr's 20%. He said to Jim White "Assume I've got knowledge". He also said we lost £70M quid last year and we're "posting dreadful financial results for some time". This sounds to me like Jordan's at the very least seen the books, there was enough detail in there...
-
Thanks for posting re-runs of Talksport of often wondered if they did recordings. I fucking love Simon Jordan, he's probably the only reason I bother with Jim White. Wouldn't have any issues with him, if that was true. Thing is, he's got the business nous but not much capital, think he's worth something around £120M, which isn't a lot in PL terms...

To the guy who asked if we took a combined 11 from the Poch/Koeman/Ralph era who would get in. None. Seriously. None of them. That was when we could field teams that Prowse couldn't even get a sniff in. If a gun was at my head, I'd say Bertrand. But that's going back to 2017 form. Not current. Maybe Walker-Peters. But even still we had Clyne, arguably the best English RB in the League under Poch.

Branfoot is well before my time, but I had an inkling this might be right up there with Pellegrino, plus 2 record batterings for good measure.
-
He posted something like 9-0 with a rocket emoji and a load of love hearts next to it. As I say, fair enough he doesn't play for us anymore but given his comments about how much he loves the club in the past, it left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
-
Might have already been mentioned somewhere on here, but I thought Luke Shaw's tweet on Twitter gloating after hammering us 9-0 was right up there. I know he doesn't play for us anymore, but I distinctly remember when he first left for Manchester United him thanking the club on Twitter and "owing us for everything we'd done for him". Those with more time than I have will be able to pull that tweet out of the archives from however many years ago that was. Thought him a little shite after the 9-0 gloating and didn't expect that from him. However, I'm a Season ticket holder and Dan Lundulu sat next to me during a pre season friendly Vs Wolves a few years back and he was nice lad tbh. As I say, to me, Luke Shaws recent gloating is far worse in my eyes.
-
This is going to get pelted to death... *Bends over and grabs ankles* Roy Keane anyone? Some of this lot need a f'kng rocket. I'm at the point where I would genuinely not be entirely adverse to him. It would end in tears but it would be worth it to see some of this lot get ripped in half. Redmond, Bertrand etc...
-
Saints reporter Dan Sheldon laying into Ralph in the comments on The Athletic. Adam Blackmore never really digs managers out but he did say on Twitter 10 defeats in the last 12 isn't good enough, that's probably one of the more direct comments I've seen from him. Dave Merrington was laying into Ralph after Leeds away, haven't heard Daves comments after this game though, I know the blokes a Dinosaur but he says it like it is.
-
No it's the fans creating a negative atmosphere in the stadium.
-
It's a no from me. He got torn a new arsehole today and not for the first time this season.
-
That was grim viewing today. It really was. When the opposition manager makes a tactical change, the bloke has no idea what to do, let alone react. That lineup we put out today, should not be getting solidly beaten by that Brighton team. If Ralph was sacked tomorrow I wouldn't be disappointed with any of Howe, Lampard or Jokanovic. Ralph gave me something to get behind, but this is just beyond effing awful now.

Good grief. Good fucking grief.
