Henderson who hasn't played all season and still injured makes every bit of sense as taking Jack Grealish who is barely fit and hardly played either. Southgate just didn't have the bottle to pick up the phone to Henderson and tell him he's not in it. Would have put Watkins in there over Calvert-Lewin aswell. JWP was never getting in that squad no matter what anyway.

Agree with most of your post but pressing is the one thing he does well imo. And it's the one thing that makes him worth a punt at those sort of price points. Just about. Anything over £10m though is probably going beyond punt territory and it depends who else we have on our radar, which I suspect is next to nobody.
