  1. I think we'll see him as a regular in the first team squad this season. I don't think there will be so many youngsters going out on loan now we're in the Championship and they'll be getting more chance here. If we were still in the Premiership then he might well have gone out on loan for a years experience.
  2. Maybe we could get Jimmy Case back then. Age no barrier. 🙄😄
  3. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23632413.jose-fonte-open-southampton-return-club-considers-options/ Interesting. When I first read it I assumed on the coaching staff but apparently interested a in returning as a player. Or are the Echo simply putting something out there as it's a quiet sports day in our area.
  4. This may helps to make your decision easier, engineering works on South West Trains from London to Basingstoke and Winchester this weekend 🤔🫤 Like you I bought my ticket ages ago, hoping for a last ditch survival day like we used to have at the Dell. Should have known better. I'll be going because if it takes 7 years to get back up to the Premiership like it did last time, bloody hell I'll be 76 by then and I might not be arsed to go any more at that great age 😒. Actually I can only just about be arsed to go nowadays anyway 🫤
  5. Don't think the new guy would fancy starting with a 9-0 ( or maybe 10 🙄) in his first game and have to live with that over the summer. No, let Sellers suffer through next Sunday and the new guy start from scratch.
  6. Offside 😞
  7. We've scored. Noooo
  8. The difference is Man city and Brighton play the ball around at the back, sideways etc inviting the opposition on to them, then pounce through the gap with defence splitting passes. We knock the ball around sideways and backwards but unfortunately we don't ever seem to manage the final bit that is defence splitting passes 🫤🙄
  9. Reading the Echo today long time Saints fans Jenny and Elaine blame .....'all those awful supporters who got him out. The players gave their all so what else can they do'....... Oh dear Jenny and Elaine, not sure where you purchased your red and white rose tinted glasses but I wish I had a pair, maybe then I wouldn't feel so bad after witnessing possibly the worst season of my 60 years of attending. !!!!!!!
  10. Well, the headline in the Sunday Express this morning reads.....Rishi's vow : I wont budge......is he staging a sit in protest maybe ? 🙄🤔
  11. Remember when Dexter Blackstock went in goal. He didn't so much volunteer as was press ganged into it. Can't remember the opponents. Was watching it on telly when you could see the surprise /shock and lipread his words saying....'What me, you're ******* joking !!!'

    Away fans

Good question but probably only Mr Plod could answer that.
  13. 😯🙂 The start of our great escape of course to match no other. 🤔😉. 😂😂😂😂

    Away fans

Britannia road , all parked up, twenty, thirty coaches maybe. Handy for Itchen Northam corner for away fans coming out so police can shut the car park to home fans , I guess the police will over rule the club on any decisions where away fans are located.

    Away fans

Leicester stadium is an identical design to St Mary's. I'm guessing that's the point the op was making. Coach parking for away fans always seem the sticking point with the police but I'm sure there's loads of solutions if the club looked a bit closer.
  16. Who remembers when our players turned up in the old Dell car park in their cars and signed autographs for ages. Remember Bobby Stokes just after he'd broke into the first team getting worried about being late and getting a bollocking off Laurie if he spent any longer signing autographs. Then there was Terry Hurlock turning up in his old builders van happy to spend time signing once he'd managed to shut the doors that were falling off his clapped out old van. How times have changed !!!
  17. So we're all agreed this season has to be the worst for many many years. But yet, a season in which we've won matches against 3 different Chelsea managers, ended Man City's quadruple hopes, drawn twice against the league leaders, conceded just once against Man Utd and ended Conte's time at Spurs. Just imagine if we'd been told that at the start of the season. 🙄 Strange old game.
  18. Yep, agree with that but there was a fair few certainly on this forum who didn't want Howe. Wonder if their thoughts have changed now.
  19. Chris Sutton got us down to lose 5-0 in the paper. I know he said we were terrible in his commentary on Thursday evening but he's probably being kind forecasting only 5 !!!
  20. Ward Prowse not feeling well the reason he's subbed.
  21. I was around in 74 when we got relegated with Laurie in charge. Thankfully the board didn't panic, kept the faith and the next decade was arguably one of the best eras. Fa cup winners in 76, promotion again back up, runners up in old Div 1 in 84, teams full of ex ex England internationals and captains, leaders everywhere, then in the 90s the great escapes which I always believed were possible, with the genius of Le Tiss, the spirit of Benali etc. Down again in 2005, but still hoped on a quick return, ok took a bit longer than we hoped. Now though, sadly no optimism. The Welsh wizard appointment like for many others was the turning point when I thought we were definitely going down. I'd loved to be proved wrong but as a self proclaimed oldie the belief has gone. !!!!!!!!! How can you have faith in a board that has made so many horrendous decisions. Short of a couple of fanatical Hollywood multi millionaires aka Wrexham style who could surround themselves with good decision makers, or another Marcus, God bless him, to save us sadly the future isn't looking to rosy.
  22. Ah right, thanks for clearing that up. Another thing I remember from that pitchside interview was how he said about the club had this young up and coming kid who was going to replace him, a lad called Mick Channon. Umm...think that worked out ok. 😊👍
  23. I thought he said when interviewed pitchside the other year at St Marys the first he knew about being transferred to Spurs was when he read the echo headlines displayed outside the newsagent ?
