Ward Prowse not feeling well the reason he's subbed.

I was around in 74 when we got relegated with Laurie in charge. Thankfully the board didn't panic, kept the faith and the next decade was arguably one of the best eras. Fa cup winners in 76, promotion again back up, runners up in old Div 1 in 84, teams full of ex ex England internationals and captains, leaders everywhere, then in the 90s the great escapes which I always believed were possible, with the genius of Le Tiss, the spirit of Benali etc. Down again in 2005, but still hoped on a quick return, ok took a bit longer than we hoped. Now though, sadly no optimism. The Welsh wizard appointment like for many others was the turning point when I thought we were definitely going down. I'd loved to be proved wrong but as a self proclaimed oldie the belief has gone. !!!!!!!!! How can you have faith in a board that has made so many horrendous decisions. Short of a couple of fanatical Hollywood multi millionaires aka Wrexham style who could surround themselves with good decision makers, or another Marcus, God bless him, to save us sadly the future isn't looking to rosy.

Ah right, thanks for clearing that up. Another thing I remember from that pitchside interview was how he said about the club had this young up and coming kid who was going to replace him, a lad called Mick Channon. Umm...think that worked out ok. 😊👍
-
I thought he said when interviewed pitchside the other year at St Marys the first he knew about being transferred to Spurs was when he read the echo headlines displayed outside the newsagent ?

Sellas, master tactician

Yep , all the time. Only difference between you and me is I've suffered since mid 60s. 😐

My experience of financial guys getting promoted usually means that purse strings are going to be much tighter. Actually if that means not wasting millions on buying rubbish masquerading as footballers it might not be a bad thing !!!!
-
I guess with that Saints connection there's a good chance we can sign him for next season in the Championship then. I think he'd be quite good. 🤔🙄

There is so much wrong with that statement I don't know where to start. Ok, in this particular case you mentioned it probably does seem callous stopping a little kid wearing an opposition shirt from coming in but at other times how do the stewards at the point of entry on the turnstiles decide if fans wearing opposition shirts are going to be well behaved ? How do stewards know that home supporters aren't going to give the well behaved opposition fan a load of grief. How about big sell out games( ok we might not get many now !!) where home supporters can't get tickets yet away fans are sat in our seats. Personally like yourself, if an away fan is sat quietly and being discreet I don't have a problem but in reality football fans are slightly different to Test match fans at cricket, who it should also be said sometimes don't exactly behave like well behaved choirboys !!

Play offs are a bit of a lottery in the national league. Team finishing seventh plays as in a quarter final. Would be a travesty if County already on 97 points miss out and the team finishing seventh go up. Oh hang on...that's Eastleigh, on 65 points maybe not !! 🙄🤣

Stuff watching the champions league, that was a real cracking game. Brilliant !!
-
My friend had a leg operation a couple of weeks ago and was struggling for comfort on Saturday, and the stewards who in fairness couldn't have been more helpful, moved the three of us to the front row Itchen/Northam corner so she could stretch her leg out where amazingly there were quite a few empty seats at the front all together. Not a good look though for TV cameras.

In today's paper it says Burnley were shocked that Saints didn't have him back in January as he has arguably been the best player in the Championship !! That goal Sulemina missed yesterday in the first half is the type that Tella is gobbling up this season, albeit it the Championship and ok !! yesterday we were against one of the best club teams in the world ....even so !!!!
-
🤣🤣. Oops, I got that well wrong. Burnley of course it should have said 🤣🤣
-
Just watched him celebrating and enjoying last night with the Middlesbrough lads, he won't fancy coming back.
-
We were shit for 90 minutes, I don't think an extra few minutes added on time would have made much difference.
-
Not a bad couple of seasons though. Two champions league finals he helped them to, winning one and getting the man of the match. But yes , we wouldn't get that money now.
-
More importantly the team we play the last game of the season , maybe to stay up !!! looked a shadow of previous seasons. If we go into that last game needing a win I'd be confident after seeing that display from Liverpool today.
-
Looks like Moyes will get sacked if we win. A pattern is starting to emerge here. Poor result against us and the opposition manager is gone !!! Beat Man City in a couple of weeks and maybe it will be Pep's turn 🙄😄
-
That's what we need, more positivity like that 🙄. Fighting spirit like today and we're still in with a shout. It's fine margins at the bottom, tightest it's been for years and that was an important point.
-
We'll they've put there money in unlike Gao, they've got it all wrong but surely questions need asking about our recruitment department.

Yes, I agree. I also met Matt a couple of weeks ago at 'An Evening With' at our local theater. He was more than happy to chat with everyone who approached him in the bar both before and after, as you say down to earth and far from your normal stereotype footballer. Should add it was a charity event for which he gave up his time to appear for nothing, all profits going to charity. Not really the actions of a c**t !!! He exp!ained his thoughts on covid and many other controversial subjects, he wanted people to ask more questions from the official line we were being fed, not to much to ask surely!! for which he lost his job at Sky, ok maybe he should have reined in some of his posts on Twitter etc but many of his thoughts seemed to have been blown up and twisted out of all proportion by the mass media and the online mob. Should add to put the record straight, he wasn't sacked from his ambassador role at St Mary's, he resigned so as to protect the club from the fall out and controversy as he didn't want SFC dragged through the mud. Big difference. Amazing how quickly a guy who virtually saved our club single handedly and kept us in the Premiership for years, who showed his loyalty is now a c**t according to some of our so called loyal supporters.

If players are really going to take on board what is written about them on Saints web then then I'm surprised most of them ain't hanging from the Itchen bridge.🙄

Went to an evening with Matt Le Tiss last night at our local theater (gave the Grimsby game a miss , not a bad decision in hindsight !!) and he was asked who had the biggest influence on his career and he said without doubt Dave Merrington. Spoke very highly of him.
