First team coaches - sack the lot?
Lee On Solent Saint replied to Daft Kerplunk's topic in The Saints
Do you think he adds anything to our coaching setup? Apart from gathering the balls up at the end of each session and picking up the cones? -
Therein lies our problem. I don't think there is much difference in the squads, they may just have a bit more quality in the final third with Raphina. The problem with that match was that Biesla just got his tactics right and his team knew what they were doing. Too many times this season Ralph has been out thought by other managers.
-
It's shocking that we have such poor quality keepers. You go back through the last 30/40 years and we've had some fantastic keepers, the three that we have are the poorest I can remember. Even Paul Jones wasn't as bad.

I think our coaching setup is absolute bollocks to be honest. You've got two ex goalkeepers presumably coaching outfield players. Call me old school, but I'd want keepers actually coaching other keepers not teaching Che Adams how to finish. Watching them arse around with flip charts etc is total shit. We've got quality ex players out there who we should absolutely be looking at, instead of giving jobs to the boys. I'd love to see the likes of Michael Svensson coming into coach our defenders to actually defend. -
They are both amazingly average, with Gunn just adding to that. If we could we should shift all three we should. McCarthy just lacks any sort of conviction in what he does, so indecisive. Forster not much better, but he does have a presence about him. I'd keep Forster until his contract runs out, and try to get someone else in, whilst trying to move on McCarthy and Gunn. Woodman for Swansea looked decent in their game yesterday, seems like Newcastle have a couple of keepers they might look to move one, with Darlow too.

Agreed. Our best player today, no question.
-
Surely Leicester have to be looking at Ings.
-
Agree with that. Beginning to hate them just as much as the blue few.
-
Absolutely agree. We have had a lot of younger players touted as the next big thing only for them to disappear down the leagues. Sounds like we have been pretty sensible with Tella so far, hopefully he can really push on next season.

Everton fans, along with Newcastle fans, have the biggest delusion of grandeur going.
-
I didn't realise he was nearly 22. Very late developer.
-
I'd rather Leicester didn't get into the Champions League if I'm being honest. Just to wipe that smug grin off Rodger's face.

Agree with this. Leeds are very overrated. Biesla is very much a media favourite
-
Agree that Bednarek can be horrific at times, can even arse up the most simplest of things. Even stranger to think that he is a mainstay in the Polish national team.
-
Agree with this. Have been a critic of Stephens in the past, however yesterday he was very good. I think he is one of those players who really struggles against the top class players and is limited in his defending. The problem is that he often gets complacent and lacks ninety minutes total concentration. As mentioned before, as a fourth choice centre back we won't do much better. To be fair to him, he never bitches about being out of the team and just keeps his head down and waits for another opportunity. I certainly wouldn't blame him he if he wanted to start more games and sought a moveone to the likes of one of the promoted teams.

If I was Semmens, I would be straight on the phone to that Spotify fella. Doesn't seem he is going to get very far with Arsenal.

Even with teams below us in the table, there will always be players that could be signed that would improve our squad. Pretty sure nobody would argue that signing Pope would be a huge upgrade on our two keepers. Likewise, with Tarkowoski signing too. Let's not forget that we as a team, nearly always struggle against Burnley.
-
I thought he did ok for just his second start. Thought it was a decent finish. He certainly looked more dangerous when he was switched to a more central role.
-
Cash handball for me too. Makes it all the worse as Cash knew exactly that he had got away with that one.
-
There's always a chance that we have a stand out season next year, win a cup and possibly finish top seven. Long shot I know, but if that did happen, it could give Ings something to think about.
-
JWP for me. Armstrong to run him a close second. For me JWP has just been consistent all season. His best season for us.
-
Sounds like for most of the season Harrison Reed was preferred over Loftus-Cheek.
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Palace
-
At the very least this gives clarity for both sides. For Bertie, I think he would have something lined up already, and for us it gives us plenty of time to try and get our first choice replacement, rather than arse about last minute as we quite often do.

Hopefully there might be a different angle to this. Maybe the club have told him that they are actively looking to improve the squad in the hope of challenging more seriously next year. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that the contract goes unsigned and Ings sees where we are next season and makes a decision. Like most have said we should absolutely reject all bids this Summer, unless of course Ings has told the club he definetly won't sign.
