Yep, I’ve done it lots of times and will do again. We also didn’t have to sell him, and we chose to, which again is fine as it suited us. Some people seem to forget this I don’t get the dislike of some people towards players who leave, others have left under far worse acrimony. Danny is certainly no knob, just looking out for himself. And I’m rather pleased he isn’t playing, as I expected him to score, but can’t feel bad towards him.

I’m not sure anyone is underestimating Villa, just, similar to Leeds, this is a great time to play them. Fuck me enough teams last season had us when we had to play the kids, now we have Ralph-depth, I’m expecting a. To not lose, and hoping b. To win. Will be funny if we dont win either game and people start laying a log in their pants over who there is to replace Ralph. Think it will be old Ronald myself 😉

Who is closest to being out of contract in our 10’s: SA - Jun 2024 NR - Jun 2023 MD - Jun 2023 ME - Jun 2023 TW - Jun 2023 So busy summer next summer & the one after that. Would have though Smallbone will take one of those places, Theo will not be re-signed after then, so 2 will be gone in 18 months or so. I wouldn’t be surprised if Moussa was given a new contract, although i dont think he should. Nathan I’d imagine will be extended too.

Yeah agree with this, I certainly see him as a more direct goal threat than Che, and he got 9 in the league I believe last season. I dont gamble, but may stick 50p on him getting a goal on Friday…

Actually your No. 2 here is a very interesting point. Last night I showed my 11 yo the you tube video of the 1984 Liverpool game we won 2-0. When the teams sheets came up, he couldn’t believe almost all players were English. I can recall the days when I think it was Chelsea who started with the first ‘all foreign’ 11, and people moaning at the time about the degradation of the English game. I thought it was short sighted then as English players could learn so much from foreign players and managers, and lately this has been so prevalent. It is the same with skills shortages in business, labour markets etc.

Next run of games in Nov: BHA - A Brentford - H Arsenal - A Norwich - H I can see them getting a couple of wins, maybe 7 points from that. Which is a shame.

I think you have a good point on JWP doing the job Ralph wants him to perform, so maybe it is a little harsh to judge JWP if he is only following instructions. I believe Ralph does prefer him to Diallo, that said I still think he will be sold if a right sized offer comes our way, such is our financial model of the club. And yep, for me I guess it it irrelevant as he holds the shirt, up to others to play well enough to take it from him, and after the shit show of last season, much needed competition.

The Cash handball, whilst being gutting, I dont think was a penalty if i recall it correctly. The rules at the time were if a shot deflects from another part of the player then hit the arm/hand, it wasnt a penalty. I’m pretty sure it slightly flicked up of the thigh of Cash prior to hitting his arm. I’m not saying I agree with that btw, just thought them’s the rules when that happened. The Ings goal should have stood imo.

Yeah sounds brilliant, would have loved to have done that back in the day. I was moved to a small village, miles from any proper footy, other than playing for my local team and watching Cefax churn about as quick as Moi Ely plays.

Ah so we are pretty close in age it seems. Hardcore going to all games when you were at school 👍 I never went to The Dell, we moved away when I was 6, and my step father supports QPR. We used to go to Loftus Road a fair few times, even the 0–4 mauling we handed them out (i was in the home end celebrating) when the original nice hair Armstrong scored a belter (free kick i think). Also used to go to the Goldstone a bit as we lived in Sussex then, and my sisters fella used to take me.

Yeah, my family thought i was weird. So in 84 i would have been around 9 years old, and already followed Southampton - had done since I was 4. I was gutted when we came 2nd in the league. I’m likely recalling this wrong, but thought we drew 0-0 with Stoke near the end of the season (may have been the final game).

I watched that live, didn’t realise that was a Friday. Great game that was and it was more special as games were rarely on tv back then.

Oh I just thought, have we ever one a game int he EPL on a Friday night? We lost to Utd 0-2 I believe and think we nearly drew with a team from the Midlands a few seasons ago also.

The new manager bounce is a load of bollocks, I can’t be arsed to find the stats, and think there are a couple of posters on here who probably can, but I saw some a couple of years ago that debunked the new manager bounce theory to be total crap.

Yeah that is a great way to look at it, and i hope you are correct. The main trouble though with this view imo, is this is not our business model, without investment we need to sell players like Salisu and go find the next gem, develop them, and move them on.

One of the better posts ive read on here since i joined. I totally agree with the insulting piece, people wouldn’t do that face to face, I’m likely guilty of it on here from time to time, but it is pretty stupid. I think part of the reason for this is it is harder to get feelings, emotions, and our proper points across, sometimes it is harder to do these things in writing.

Well I don’t see Twar in the same way, and I’m not young, or particularly old either I guess. I find the analysis useful and whilst I may not totally agree with him on Broja, he isn’t yet wrong on that either. He is explaining how tactics have evolved, which they have, he isn’t saying everything is new. I just think some people like to moan about shit if they perhaps haven’t always liked everything they post, playing the poster rather than the post I guess. also I don’t see him as that person at the front of the class with his hand up, nor smearing mud in their face. Bit weird that for me 😅
