  1. I think JWP has to put a real shift in today and prove he deserves his seemingly automatic place in the starting line up
  2. I think Lyanco might just have had the fastest turnaround from completely shit to legend in Saints' history.
  3. I know. But my stream of the game cut out for the goal and the replays. I didn't see him do anything else useful for our team. I think our performance deserved a goal or two. Theirs obviously did too or we wouldn't be talking about what a great game Forster had.
  4. I don't think I've ever felt so positive after a loss. We nearly won that game three times in injury time. We clearly have a world class (reserve) keeper. Lyanco might be an absolute steal. Salisu must be worth 40m already. Tella is electric, he puts pressure on defences in possession and causes mistakes. Djenepo and Valery were part of a defence that only conceded one goal that neither can be blamed for. Romeu had a good game, Stu Armstrong looked like he's fully recovered. I thought KWP had an excellent game and covered a lot of positions. The only two starting players that disappointed me were Adams and A Armstrong. At least Armstrong scored his penalty.
  5. He'd be better there than Walcott
  6. For such an old boy, Long is still remarkably quick. If he had a decent football brain as well, and knew how to finish, he could have been a really good striker. He does always give it everything though, and I respect him for that.
  7. I think Diallo looked better than JWP tonight. We've looked far more dangerous from corners in the last three games too.
  8. Whatever happens on penalties, this has been my favourite Saints performance of the season.
  9. Still think he's made a good claim for Bednarek's place tonight
  10. Walcott would get a load shit on here if he'd done a pass like Mount just did!!
  11. I'm sure Long tripped himself over then!
  12. Alonso is such a dirty bastard, and he wins so many free kicks
  13. JFC Long & Walcott v Mount & Chilwell..
  14. Shame that our best long distance ball thrower is also our best in the air!
  15. Who wouldn't have taken 1-1 after an hour at kick-off?
  16. Amazing that we can run the league leader's first and second teams so close when all our players and our manager are so useless.
  17. Obviously gutted to have gone a goal down how and when we did. But.. We've been quite a bit better than I was expecting. Salisu and Lyanco have both played really well. Diallo's beginning to look a really decent player; he gets stuck in, wins us some ball and makes some very good attacking passes, and not too many sideward ones. It's so good having Stu Armstrong back, I think he'll make a real difference back in the first team. And Che Adams was playing a bit rubbish!
  18. KWP 5'8" Havertz 6'3"
  19. I know Tella hasn't actually made anything happen yet, but he just looks so much more likely to than I think Walcott ever will again.
  20. So far I'm reasonably impressed by Lyanco. He's pretty quick for a CB, looks strong and unlikely to get pushed off the ball, seems positionally aware and has distributed the ball pretty well. Do we know what we paid for him? Presumably not much - he might turn out to be a real bargain.
  21. If someone scores from a direct freekick today..
  22. He shouldn't have been allowed to walk off, and round half the pitch, if he did
  23. He did play well. And we still don't know how good Lyanco is..
  24. Was close for me between him and Salisu. So good though to see him back. He has such a calm assurance about his play, and he's a hard, fearless bastard. There was moment in the final 10 when he passed it out to (I think) Redders on the wing who was headed for defenders, so probably trouble. Rom moved right out to the touchline to give Redmond a way out (which he needed!), and then threaded the ball through the defenders in front of Redmond, then ran at the area to give Redmond the option to pass back to him again (which he needed!). He thinks ahead and seems to have a really impressive instinct. Salisu might be from a similar mould. His instinct, combined with athleticism, appears to get him in the right positions. He's also brave - and skilful - enough to dive in with last ditch tackles, interceptions and off the line headers. I said it after his first game in February, and I'll say it again now, we've got ourselves a real bargain there. I also want to mention how impressed I was with KWP, playing out of position. I think we've got three really good full backs and his versatility means we can play any two of them without much worry.
  25. And the first time they've only had one shot on target for four and a half years
