Kiplekker - literally "chicken delicious" - is Dutch idiom for "very healthy" And Dutch people don't get goosebumps, they get kippenvel or "chicken skin"

I was a bit when Lyanco gave away the freekick But nothing like I would have been with Bednarek and Vestergaard at the back, or Forster or McCarthy in goal Bazunu, Salisu and Bella-Kotchapu (and even Lyancu) are making me much calmer

I think the hardest thing tonight would be to pick our worst player. Nobody had a bad game and everybody worked their arses off. I can't remember such a good Saints' performance, and I was at Spurs when we beat them them last season. This was better; we could have had four or five tonight We seem to have had our best transfer window in a few years, and it's not over yet. Ralph has promised us a new striker and who knows what else might happen tomorrow.. We also have Tino to come back. I'm getting quite excited for this season.

Once we've had our 65th minute drink we'll be ok.

We're gonna have a good time. We're gonna have a party.
-
I'm feeling pretty confident. We look so much better than last time out.

Great run from KWP!

Right now I reckon we're the third best team in the league. Obviously we're way behind ManU/Chelsea/Arsenal/Spurs in player 'quality' and depth. But we're outplaying all of them at the moment. And we seem to be improving all the time.

I know what you're saying, but the starting XI isn't irrelevant, and today they stepped up. Big time. They got us to half time 1-0 up against the first team of a currently top 5 club. Will Smallbone didn't look out of of place against Declan Rice. That's very good news for us, I think.
-
We're blessed with an inspirational manager and an inspired squad. Long may it continue!
-
Imagine how that could have gone if we'd had them eating Romeu on Rice from the start.

Adam Armstrong had two really good chances quite early on, one that he blasted over and the other passed it instead of shooting. I was really worried for him at that point, but I think after that he had a pretty good game without many more chances of his own. He made a lot of clever runs to get the ball in space on the wings, and others to draw defenders away from the action. He worked his ass off doing a lot of pressing, and getting back to help out in midfield. I think he's he's got a better goal than Romain or Romeu in him. And when he gets it he'll be hard to stop.

What really pleased me from the off today was that our reserves tried to play exactly the same game as the first team. Sure there were loads more mistakes in the passing, but the pressing was really good, the shape and organisation was identical to the first team. We played really positively throughout, and we got some really good game time into some players we haven't seen enough of. And we beat West Ham 3-1 with our reserves!
-
It was littered with mistakes, but there was also a lot of really good stuff there. For our reserves to be beating full strength top class opposition is amazing.
-
I'm not happy with the team selection, but I'd fucking love it if this side could beat West Ham. It'd be better than the first team beating them.
-
As soon as I saw the line up my thoughts went from hoping and thinking we'd win to just hoping Will Smallbone has a good game.
-
Desperately looking for a bright side, it might be the strongest Saints bench of all time!
-
Thank god we can make five subs..

I'd hate to be playing us next.

Long's finish was excellent. Tino's assist was something else. Southampton FC on Twitter: "82': Subbed on ⤴️ 83': Scores with first touch ⚽️ An instant impact from @ShaneLong7: https://t.co/sWiDlah80u" / Twitter

Norwich, Villa, Newcastle, Watford, Burnley. I want at least eleven points from the next five.

Frank say "it is not good enough to try and miss out [midfield] and play to the strikers. It has to be an option but it can't be the way we play"
