Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
AlexLaw76 replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
this is not sour grapes, but he was terrible for us - until last season Last season, he looked very good mostly, but that was against us having a disgraceful season in keeping the ball out. Our other CBs are pretty crap BTW. He is excellent at spraying a ball out from the back to either wing - quater back style. That will be a big miss. As a squad player, you could do a lot worse I guess given the position in the table you are now operating in. -
We need a starting quality CB if (when) Vestergaard leaves. Going into a season with Salisu, Stephens, Bednarek, & a midfielder who can fill a gap, would be hilarious.

however, he was our best CB last season. He was a starter ahead of everyone else after a few games and we missed him when he was injured. Salisu is still very uknown at this level. Looks decent, although terrible on the ball but time will tell. -
Then, they will all do their utmost to 'make the plane' to the equal-rights mecca that is Qatar. Gays are most certainly not allowed in that village! I bet the rainbow shirts do not quite get there.
-
if we want to buy anyone next summer - DESPITE the summer where we are supposedly clear, all crap gone (inc FF big wages) - we will probably have an excuse to sell before we buy! JwP will probably be a big money spinner
-
I still think we need a starting quality CB to be brought in. Salisu is very inexperienced and the others; well, errr, a NO from me.
-
I have heard that JwP and Saints are not against a move (to Villa), if the bid (and money up front) is big enough. North of £40m. Until such time as bids no where near that mark are received, we continue to "not want to see our skipper"

No matter how we are financially, had we lost a first team player for 6 months, we would not have gone shopping for a premier league starter. look at the state we made of the Virgil situation, when Vardy crocked him. Probably cost us the league cup.
-
the benchmark to be in/around our first team is as low as it has been since our return to the premier league. We are woeful 2 words - Shane & Long Why on earth we gave him another deal a couple of years ago, will remain one of lifes great unsolved mysteries. I know of fans who applauded the contract. Madness
-
We were woeful for almost the entire 2nd half of last season. We go into the next hilariously weaker. Ralph's tactics leave our awful defence completely exposed, and that appears to not be changing. I have little faith that we will bring in starting quality players, and the continued purchase of crap/squad fillers goes on. This is the year we go down and we will deserve every moment of it. Ralph will probably be gone by Easter, one way or another - tragically Champions - Chelsea FA Cup - Usual suspects League Cup - Usual suspects Surprise of the season - Brentford Saints to finish - Bottom 3 Managers to not be in charge come end of the season Ralph, Arteta & Dyche
-
The state of our side! Would do well to make the playoffs in the championship
-
A defender who can't necessarily defend, is still a good defender if he stays goals side
-
Not possible? He was very meh.. I would not say no one thought it was possible, rather than an average player that never hit anyone's radar...
-
Comfortably bottom 3 (probably bottom), with a decent thrashing on the board, by/after the Chelsea game.

What the f**k is going on. Done with this rabble

Unsure the need for this thread? Now, that is not to say our club is basically shit (under Gow), we all know it, and probably within 2 seasons of being relegated. However, selling Ings for £25-30m, given the circumstances, is nothing bad. Had he gone to Spurs for that price (or even a little less), I doubt anyone would worry so much. I think ego's have taken a knock here. Villa (bigger club, no doubt), are showing us how we should have spent the Virgil money. We utterly blew it, they are not. Fair play to them, and unsure why we care who gives us money like that for Ings given the circumstance. The same will happen with Vestergaard as soon as a decent offer comes in. What will highlight the shambles of our club, will be the piss poor effort to enhance the 1st team. We will probably bring in squad players, who will not be as good as Ings, or like Salisu, need 6 months to look competant (and we still do not know if he is or not). We will be relegated within 2 season IMO. -
Good money for a player who does not want to be here, 29 and in the last year of his deal. Now the issue with it. He was by far our best striker and one of, if not the best player we had. Genuine star quality. Tragic that we are not moving as quick as Villa to secure his replacement, who will no doubt not be as good as Ings. Our defence is terrible and Ralph style means we have to score at least 2 goals to get points (usually). We are in deep trouble this season, we all know it. On another note, Villa lose Grealish and look how they are spending the money. We certainly did not buy an 'Ings' when we sold Virgil. Also, everyone keeps saying we are skint. When have we not been? when have we not had 'excuses' to be prudent. Or will there be greater spending next summer? We all know the answer.
-
one thing is for sure, I bet that reported £30m starts to come down over the coming hours/days. Also, i bet his value to saints (on the pitch) get more and more diminished by our fans. Tis always thus.
-
You WHAT?
-
Is JwP playing, or does he still have that little 'knock'....?
-
so, you are a racist. Good to know. The UK will be so much more tolerant (stats wise), when Scotland go it alone. Their own intolerance towards the English is disgraceful. in all seriousness, we are in a period where the demand for racism far outstrips the supply. As said, the very same players will be busting a gut to get to Qatar. It is remarkable hypocricy.
-
The taking of the knee will commence right before kick off. Then each player will put in every possible shred of effort to make the plane to the Qatar World Cup. Amazing!
-
If we got Danjuma, I would be like signing Keegan all over again. Would be mental
-
"What a player".........Is he? How much have you seen of him? how many first team games has he played? Sounds like a good signing, but have read on another thread that this signing would be "insane". what the actual fluck? Anyway, isn't this link just pure lazy journalism, or agent talk?
-
Sancho cannot get a start for England either. JwP can't get a place in the squad ffs. Part of the fee is the 'tax' associated with buying English from within the league. Look at Ben White, he costs more than Varane! It is what it is. The last lot of Balon Dor winners are generally Messi and Ronaldo. How much do you think they would cost if they were available today at 25 years old or what ever? It is why we buy total unknowns from beyond the league and will probably get relegated over the next season or two.
