Spanish side Real Betis have identified Perraud as a potential solution as they look to strengthen the left-back position. Southampton have received a boost in their hunt for Werder Bremen man Leonardo Bittencourt with their director making a bold transfer claim.

I hope he can perform like he did in the last few month in the chamoionship. The statistics that prove Joe Aribo can step up in the Premier League Southampton’s midfield trio of Downes, Smallbone and Aribo was so successful because it had a blend of tenacity, creativity and skill. Downes often sat in front of the defence while his teammates were given license to maraud forward, a part of the game that Aribo excels at. When comparing him against other midfielders in the Championship, the powerful midfielder is levels ahead of his peers, especially for his explosive ball-carrying, passing range and ability to receive the ball in tight spaces. As highlighted by FBref, Aribo ranks in the top 9% for progressive passes per 90 (7.40), the top 8% for touches (Att Pen) and the top 4% for progressive carries and progressive passes received.

We always have to wait to the end of the teansfer window as we are usually going for players that are looking/ hoping for bigger clubs, and Saints asking less than what the selling team want. NOTHING new there. What is different is 6 PL teams are in breach of FFP and will HAVE TO SELL before June 30th to avoid points detuctions! This give us a chance to do some business early if we are after any of those teams players.

Gakpo reason for not choosing Saints....dang “The Eindhoven resident initially remains secretive about how he made his choice, but then opens up: “People might think I’m strange. I could go to Southampton, Leeds came into the race and PSV wanted me to stay. “I presented the three options I had to God. If I scored once, I would go to Southampton. If I scored twice I would go to Leeds and if I scored three I would stay at PSV.” To put such a monumental career decision down to how many goals you score in one game is certainly an interesting way to choose and – unfortunately for Southampton – Gakpo scored the first hat-trick of his career that night in a 7-1 win.

We have been scouting him for some time, liked his progress, playing 1st team ball at 18, and see something in him. But your 5min video has made your mind up and dismissed all the pro scouters efforts???????

Or Stuey, replacing a senior player with another that can bring PL experience, leadership and knows the club inside out!
-
Come back home JWP, bring that lad Downes with ya. At 30 yrs old, he is on his last few years in the EPL, still got a great engine/ stamina. Should NOT cost too much, or a loan. I know he gives everything on the pitch for saints and knows this club inside out. He is capable of magical free kicks and would love to see him break Becks record here.

Who was the short kid near the end of the trophy cerimony? Third from last, on the left, standing next to Beds and Sully?
-
I like Master Bates, always worth it, happy at the end of it. Seriously like your player and youth game updates.
-
How about your managers opinion of Mara.... He is a really good footballer, a good technician, and a brilliant athlete. I really liked his performance against Walsall. “I really rate Sekou and he has not had a huge amount of minutes, but he is coming more to the fore now and forcing his way into reckoning.

Not quite 6 foot, our scouts are slipping 🙃 MB do u have a master list of players that have been scouted?
-
Looking at this transfer thread, Master bates and a few others have been very active in adding scouting reports on here over the past couple of months, prob due to Mowbrays findings. Typical names we do not know, a bunch of teens around 19ish who could be the next top or flop. A few 24-25 old players with a bit of experience, but almost all were over 6 ft, so it seems we are looking for bigger playrers. We had a good look at the champ players and to pinch a few for the right price would be wise. The PL relegated teams have some good players we could use. Chelsea is supposed to have another firesale to improve FFP finances. LOTS of chioices out there, lets hope we get most of them right.

Luton Town - £12.2m Back in 2020/21, the Premier League new boys spent precisely zero pounds on transfers and earned exactly nothing in return. Proper old-fashioned Football League stuff by a club that resolutely refuse to move with the times in many respects. The £22.8m spent this season, obviously much less than most clubs, is nevertheless their biggest summer outlay by a country mile. I find Luton approach to Epl very interesting. Very diff from NF huge spend on PL promo. I assume they are saving the Pl monies to strengthen their club finacially. Sensibly realised that you could spend +100 mil and still be relegated from PL. Why not take that PL money and take it back down with you to the the championship. With parachute payments, Luton will have a HUGE cash injection to finacially stabalise ther club and be a force in the transfer market with there new PL $$$$$. They can start buying better young talent and build a stronger team for another promo. I am toying with this idea for SFC. SFC fans are loving the championship, but to stay here we will cause financial ruin and degrdation of talent. But if we get promo to PL and dont buy a buch of expensive players , sell players that are wanted and turn a profit and give it a go with our mainly young raw talent? If we get relegated, we are in a strong financial postition to buy the best young talent and loans to prep for another exciting season fighting for the championship title, heck we might even win one? We are known for our youth academy and have a first rate training grounds. Brought a lot of young talent recently and looking to buy more. We are no longer looking at PL ready players ( +20 mil) to fill out our squad. As we saw last season, a bunch of young raw talent in the PL will not do well. But in the champ they can improve and develope into great assets. So.....could we adopt a PL and Champ relegation/promo stratagy that will allow us to stay finacially strong. Aquire the best young talent and loans to push for champ promo, which is so much fun compared to trying to stay in PL and trying to avoid relgation.

Sully is a strange one, so strange that RM admitted hes has never played with or coached a player like him. I am sure he is a player with pace and skill to beat any player, even a whole team at times. Stand and watch as he tries this over and over....this is the problem, the TEAM stops when Sully is on the ball, no point in moving in for a pass, a one- two.. he rarely passes. The single mindness to beat his winger and drive to the box leaves no room for variations. The thought of playing triangles up the field is lost on him. Thus RM is perplexed on how to play him as he is so single minded in charging forward on his own. Sully is brilliant at beating a player, i noticed how our players are looking to get the ball to him as much as possible, sometimes forcing the pass and bypassing the triagle we work on to move the ball up the field. I think they see him in training and know he can beat players for fun with his pace and skill. BUT as others have said he is playing for himself, not as a team. Hopefully he can show he can be a team player, looking for the pass, looking to defend and looking to score from a team effort!

Charlie is on loan there, a realtionship is building with Juve, lets hope it benifits SFC.

The whole ficking club was a shambles, but it was the individual player that took the wrath of "you are shite" from so called supporters. Guess we have to buy a whole new team around KWP as he is the only one deemed good enough for the EPL. I thought our new players are playing to their strenghths and improving now that we have a better manager and defined system.
-
Another maligned player by the geniuses on the first page, some familiar fans with their wonderful player judgments, so glad we have thier valuable insite. 😵💫 Again, last years new players are not the shite some think they were. We were a team with no direction, style, confidence or togetherness. Now with a solid team effort we can see the quailty the new playes posses. We can rely on the clubs judgment of a good player, and give the player the time to show why the club track and pay millions for these tallented footballers.

Sekou Mara - Official: Signs for Strasbourg

Just making sure i got an idea of what the real football telent spotters think of young Mara. Thanks SAINTS SUPPORTERS for your valuable insite. -
Our Manager is getting more fame, seems to be the man everyone is talking about. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/02/12/russell-martin-broke-cycle-domestic-violence-southampton/

What a goal!!! What an impact!! We heard he was good, hoped he was good and what a time to deliver? A game that looked like we would loose, turned on its head by a goal of the season strike, and a cool second goal. You could see it lift the whole team and confidence returned to regain a winning mentality. Shout out to Brooks, classy player and another sigh that our scouting/recruitment team does have a good eye for great talent. Our loans have been excellent ( Mason only exception) and the new signings since the new magment team are proving to be good players. This give me confidence when they buy the next young players i have never heard of and I will give them time to see what the management sees as they have spent millions of $ and month/years tracking the next super stars in the making. To judge a player after a few cameos would be foolish on my part, a quick judgment will not take into account all the time the club has put into recruiting these kids.
-
Great to see twinkle toes back. So good with the ball at his feet, can beat a player at will, and do it again for fun. Got a few goals and shows confidence in himself. We have another great youth sighning working his way to great football career.

Sekou Mara - Official: Signs for Strasbourg
BERMUDASAINT replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Are we getting another few pages of "I was so wrong about Mara". I hope so, if you could hand out the shite, surely you can eat it when so wrong on players abilities. How about the early Mara haters reflect on their abilty to judge a football players ability and realise they should just shut the fuck up! -
So not so far fetched we could see Soule at SFC! This Charlie deal is very interesting, a young raw Argie that cannot get into our team can be swept away to a mega club like Juv for big loan and possible big fee. Juv were reported interested in him before we snatched him up, another obscure buy from our scouts, but obvioulsy well known to the intl scouts as a player with huge potential. Add this to the attempt to buy Gakpo we seem to be interested in some of the worlds best young break out players. With Sully, Abk and a few others that could have a very high ceiling in world football, we are certainly look like a club that still shoots for the "stars"...." future stars".

So say you.........he is our young player that needs game time, one that has show more promise than KD. " never amount to anything"? what the fuck has he done to you? Why such the hate?
