After last night's fiasco is it time to declare VAR a failure and bin it at the end of this season? Teams score what look perfectly good goals in real time and fans celebrate but then comes the bitter disappointment of having the goal wiped out by the dreaded VAR. Often the decisions are given on such hairline decisions and based on a part of the body being millimetres offside. This is killing the game and surely not what most of us expected from VAR. I'm sure most fans would rather go back to the old days of blaming the referee or his assistant for decisions we think went against us and having a healthy debate on it afterwards. Even with a VAR decision nothing is cut and dried so what point does it serve? We are now left debating VAR decisions rather than an officials interpretation in real time and still nothing is conclusive. Also referees often bottle penalty decisions and would rather give nothing and let VAR decide. This is not in the spirit of the game. Maybe others think that overall VAR does a good job but I believe it has proved a complete failure.

Unfortunately incompetent referees like Mason have now also become total cowards. What I mean by that is that they rely on the cosy blanket of VAR rather than doing their job and making big decisions on things like whether it is a penalty. When a defender commits a possible infringement in the box Mason prefers to bottle it, give nothing and wait for VAR to do his job. Lack of moral fibre I'm afraid. As for the offside the linesman clearly could not have been certain Ings was offside so should not have raised his flag. In reality he probably raised it, not based on when the ball was kicked but on the fact that Ings got in before the defenders ergo he must have been offside. This type of decision making is killing the predatory nature of strikers like Ings and is ruining the game.

Right, lets be clear, that was a stonewall penalty. The reason it was stonewall is because, as Armstrong shot, Cash had already extended his left arm with the obvious intent of trying to block the ball. The fact that it brushed his thigh is not relevant. His intent was clearly to use his left arm to block the ball. Had he kept his arm by his side it might have been different but he set out to use his arm to block the ball and the fact that it hit his thigh then his arm should not affect the fact that it was handball and we should have been awarded a penalty.

Seen that tactic backfire many times. Start with a weakened side, go behind and it is sometimes very hard to get back the momentum. Go for the jugular in every cup tie and you might even win the thing. Go half hearted and you almost certainly won't.

Do just enough to get through and you run a big risk of not getting through. This playing a weakened side is a fairly recent idea. In the good old days when the FA Cup was taken seriously managers would not have dreamed of putting out anything but their strongest side because every team wanted to win the Cup.

Listen, we are not going to win the title or even get into the Champions League. People get drawn into this negative idea that you daren't risk key players in the FA Cup. The best we can hope for is Europa position and I'd take a good cup run over that especially as it could even lead to us winning it. There is no chance we will be relegated so why rest players for the league when, in reality, all we can hope is to finish between 8th and 12th. Go hard for the FA Cup and enjoy the excitement that will create.

Disagree. Strong team to start - win the game then make subs. Don't risk an upset by playing a weak side with a strong bench - seen that scenario too many times where you go a goal behind then make subs to chase and end up embarrassed.
