Agree, Salisu and Vest would make a great central pairing in defence. Salisu is going to be a brilliant player for us. He is a little rusty as you would expect but he showed signs that he is going to be the real deal. Strong in the air, knows his position, spots danger and covers the ground extremely rapidly to snuff it out and he can pass the ball too. Also has the physical presence to cause problems at set pieces. Imagine trying to mark him and Vest from a JWP delivery! Very excited by that debut.

McCarthy's f*ck up at Newcastle plus Foster being solid tonight. It's a no brainer if Ralph is being fair.

Agree on Moss. Not his greatest fan normally but that was a good performance from the referee. Certainly showed the arrogant, strutting poser Dean how to do it.

Far better second half and a deserved win. Good persistence from Tella to set up Armstrong who made up for missing an open goal with a very assured finish off the far post. Salisu looked very accomplished apart from the odd mistake which is understandable on his debut. Foster did all that was asked and should replace McCarthy on Sunday.

All too slow and predictable again with nobody willing to get between the lines or take a gamble. Passing it backwards just or the sake of it. Get some mojo and bang down on the accelerator. Nothing changes. Wolves are there for the taking but we need to be a lot more positive.
-
No because we weren't playing this negative football 2 months ago.
-
I think it is not that he isn't trying just that he is playing within himself to guard against injury. If that is true, and obviously nobody other than Ings himself can confirm it, we are likely to continue to see this drop in levels of intensity, work rate and goal poaching from him.

Maybe Ralph needs to tear up his bible of the way we play and rewrite large chunks of it - maybe include a chapter on how to defend by marking opponents in our box and picking up runners from midfield.
-
We have to stop this negative passing with just the aim of retaining the ball at all cost. The continual recycling and going back to our own goal is killing our instinctive creativity. We seem very happy to work the ball up into the opposition third and then, if a simple pass isn't on or someone might have to take on a defender we immediately turn back and look for a 'safe' pass back towards our own goal thus surrendering the gain into opposition territory. I'm not convinced we do well when we have lots of the ball because it usually means we have spent large spells just playing keep ball without actually hurting our opponents. Let's start being braver and taking more risks. It will not always come off but right now we are in danger of becoming boring to watch like a Puel team.

Quote from Redmond, "It's difficult playing against 10 or 9 men". Tells you all you need to know.

Before the current very bad run I really thought we might be in with a shout of winning the FA Cup. Sadly, that optimism has melted away as we have disintegrated. Injuries and officials have not been kind to us but we just seem to have lost that spark and verve. Now, we play a very conservative game and prefer to continually pass back and recycle the ball for no apparent reason. Forget the 9-0 and today's debacle and get back to taking risks instead of the boring, tedious rubbish we have resorted to. I always admired Ralph for the fact that he would rather go for wins than try to eke out draws. Why are we having to watch this joyless football now? Be braver and go for wins.

Think Ings knows he is going in the summer and not busting a gut because that could risk him picking up an injury. Don't be surprised to see him continue to coast through games and, without the high energy, he is no use.
-
So we went down to 9 men on Tuesday and conceded 3 goals in about 8 minutes but we can't even score one in 25 minutes against 9!
-
Why do we still have 4 defenders on against 9 men ffs?
-
How the f*** have we got 29 points?
-
No team should concede 3 goals to this Newcastle team in one half. Shocking.
-
We continually fail to mark players in the box. It costs us time and again yet we don't learn.

Dean is a disgrace. Just watched Ralph's pre-Newcastle video and they showed the clip at the end of the Man Utd match. Ralph fist pumps the officials and when he does so with Dean the twat hasn't even got the courage to look at him let alone look him in the eye. Fuming at this lack of respect.

The question is, how much longer will Dean get away with these sort of decisions before he is disciplined?
-
Ralph needs to put him straight into the side on Saturday as he is not in trauma unlike those who played last night.
-
Might be wrong but from what I saw Dean waited for VAR and they confirmed it was a penalty.
-
The VAR decisions and standard of refereeing have been comprehensively covered. To appraise the performance it is very clear, having watched the goals again, that we seem to be adhering to social distancing when defending our penalty area. For most of the goals we had plenty of players in position but if they all decide to mark none of their opponents then chances are goals are going to flow. It makes not a jot of difference whether you have 9 or 29 players on the pitch, if you mark nobody the opposition will fill their boots. Ralph needs to take a long hard look at man marking when the ball is played into our penalty box.
-
I can blame Mike Dean for the fact that it was raining. Why on earth does the man get all dressed up as a referee? He just makes himself look ridiculous.
-
Dean is permanently confused by what he is supposed to be looking at.
